AttackontimmyMultiple listens always great!I probably re-listen to this book once a year. His ability to build a world and characters is just amazing. This story never gets old and I’m so glad Scott Sigler made this recommendation. RIP PG you were an amazing author and im so happy I got to listen to your book and will continue to listen in the future.

~ Violet ~MysteryishOld timey fantasy mystery. Two men need to solve a murder mystery to pass through a walled town, which devolves into mystical stuff that ultimately overwhelms the former (fun) procedural puzzle solving. Plus vampires and werewolves and priests and potions and horses and servants and fancy blade weapons. And I admit this is not my comfort zone for stories. Mostly because ——> The way the women are described is kinda zoinks: A town full of the most beautiful women ever seen. And many of them deceitful, dangerous, and hyper sexualized. Most of the women actually get to do things, which is definitely a plus. But what they get to do is generally a big sigh of tired overwrought misogynistic fantasy tropes. The voice work is generally pretty good ... it resists fake British accents, and there are fun guest voices. But also it’s read v e r y slowly, so listening via an app that lets you speed it up and trim out silences is useful. As is Voice Boost. LOTS of time spent on music in the earlier episodes. Some hints of homosexuality that would have been nice to develop, especially if they weren’t also buried in some old school tropey stuff & red herrings. So ... it’s a mixed experience for a current (2020) listener.

Galactico Supremo3rd Time ListeningEach time I find something new and truly enjoy the roll out of the mystery and action. The interplay between Aramiss and Aaron is something I look forward to.

JohnG4What Harry Potter should have beenThis is an immaculately conceived universe, full of all the political, religious, and social factors of the real world. This is just as mandatory a literary experience as Frankenstein or Flowers for Algernon.

Iggy_kThe story was great, the production was notI'll keep this short. I liked the setting and story. Main narration voice was good. However guest voices used terrible recording equipment, mispronounced fantasy terms, and broke the immersion. Also having a three minute outro every ep is just tedious. Again, story: great. Guests:bad but not a deal breaker. Wish there was more in this setting

ThePit12GreatGreat murder mystery with a touch of fantasy.

rdmyers97115Good Murder Mystery/ FantasyP.G. Holyfield started with his fantasy murder mystery Murder at Avedon Hill. Holyfield’s fiction is very moody and atmospheric. He was very capable of fusing Mystery with fantasy without either genre suffering any issues. He is a wonderful host and worth the listen.

ChuluotaSmurfetteWell Done Fantasy/MysteryExcellent plot line with lots of twists. I loved the attention to detail and life in Caern. It reminded me of a fantasy version of the Father Caedfael stories. Like a good book I found myself 'reading/listening' until late into the night. It was just too good to stop. P.G. Holyfied: all I can say is - MORE PLEASE! I can't wait to hear what happens next to Arames and Arrin.

Sgp232790Good story but the music was waaaayyyy to loonnngOnly got to a third of the way through only because the author thinks that he needs a 2 minute song at the end of every track. If he would just edit, I would finish the friggin book.

radlilimA great fantasy storyPG did a great job of meshing gothic horror and fantasy. It reads like a great D&D session, with the plot twists keeping the listener's interest the entire time. A podcast novel classic.

Tim SchneckGreat story!!Never been a big mystery fan but have always enjoyed fantasy. Gave this a shot after hearing the author on the Dead Robots Society pod cast and glad I did. It hooks you right from the start and never let's go.

ailispCompelling storyI know I'm late to the party, but I just now had time to listen to MaAH. I finished it in just a few days (long commute, plus I just wanted to find out what was going to happen next.) Reminded me a little of the Brother Cadfiel mysteries. Enjoyed the cameo's, but be warned that you have to wait until nearly the end for Scott Sigler and Mur Lafferty!

daciasilAbsolutely Wonderful! The story is exciting, engaging, well written, and well narrated. I listened to the first few episodes, and now I can't stop! I would absolutely recommend this podio-book to everyone. Thank you P.G. Holyfield; I really appreciate you making this great story and narrating it so well.

TomCatt2ExcellentGood story, very good production & reading. Only one minor 'complaint'; outro music is a little long for a podcast novel.

L E CodyMurder, Suspense, Fantasy, SexOk, not much sex, oh all right, not really any sex, just a few innuendos. But it is a well crafted murder mystery set in a land not unlike ours but with magic and vampires and werewolves and gods and goddesses and other things to grab your imagination and attention. I was constantly surprised by the twists and turns and cliffhangers. PG Holyfield has written an excellent story with great production values and guest voices regular podcast listeners will recognize. And, as an added bonus, he has a voice that makes listening a pleasure.

BlairisbuffyWonderfulI have a one hour commute to and from work each day and this podcast made it worthwhile. Several times I found myself sitting in the driveway so I could finish off an episode before going in to the house. The voices are all superb and the story was excellent. I can't wait for the next volume!

Adam T.Amazing mix of fantasy and mystery!Normally I am not a fan of mystery but Murder at Avedon Hill has definitely sucked me in. Holyfield does an amazing job of keeping me guessing as to "who done it." The voice acting, sound quality, effects and background music make the story even more immersive.
-
deekayoh007Excellent mystery!I've listened to this wonderfully gripping mystery trying to figure out what's going to happen next and failing happily. The story carries you along the twists and turns of the characters' actions and keeps you coming back for more. The voice actors are a talented bunch and I love to listen to them as they animate the story. A must listen!!!
-

born2knitnpurlI love itThe title caught my attention and although I am not a fan of vampire books I just love this story. All the different characters, the sound effects, its wonderful to listen to. I am totally hooked. Keep up the good work.

ChadsterzGreat story but the music is killing me.The story and characters are fantastic. Character development is well thought out and the entire book is a good who done it. I would recommend this book to anyone and I honestly can’t wait to get more! The only thing that’s killing me is the lead in and lead out music! My God there is no need to have such a LONG play at the end. It honestly takes me right out of the mood set by the author and is the only reason I didn’t give it ‘5’ stars. I know that you can’t make everyone happy, but honestly there is no reason that I should be listening to SO much music, I’d download it if I did. I’m hungry for more of the story, not more music.

rick288High Fantasy Meet Sam SpadeIf you are a fan of High Fantasy or Gothic Mysterious or better yet both this podcast is for you. It has it all Interesting world Mythos, good solid charters and a good story. It is also well acted out with lots of talented people giving their all. I would especially recommend it to any old gamers out there. There is something about it that brings me back to the old feeling of exploring a new world while solving mysteries that brings me right back to the good old days of my role-playings youth.

BajanGuyTop NotchI thoroughly enjoyed this story. I’ve always had a thing for mystery stories as a child. This story is part mystery and fantasy. I thoroughly enjoyed it. The author did a wonderful job with the characters. After listening to a fair share of podcast stories, this is one of the best I’ve listened to. I enjoyed the voices and sounds of the podcast as well.

BigDPA cliff hanger in every episodeAn all star cast, outstanding recording quality, and a funny story line all work together to make a great audiobook from P.G. Holyfield. My only complaint is that I have to wait for the next episode. Highly recommend it.

ktjkiaNot just a mystery / Fantasy too!!!I picked this because it is a mystery in the tradition of holmes and watson, the master and the student, but the more I listen the more I want to learn about Caern and its unique fantasy world with its own unique religious world. I love complete societies and I am dying to know not just who killed who but what else is going on.
