The_ClooneyAmazing hosts and always interesting topics!I don't know who could ever rate this podcast lower than 5 stars. The Indicator (and Planet Money) never miss. Their hosts are so likable and do an amazing job and presenting economic topics in a relatable and interesting way. I also enjoy the laughter and playfulness the hosts have when discussing otherwise dense economic subjects. Anyone who complains about ads should sub to + or research and learn that it costs money to produce high-quality podcasts.

Bamcquern“We could be on red alert.”“Jobs numbers are better than we expected and unemployment is low. Does this mean a recession is coming?” Absolutely the most pea-brained stuff a month from the election.

tookeymonster7Used to be goodI used to love planet money and the indicator. Gosh they have fallen far though. They seam more interested in political puff pieces than actual economics. I don’t know why I still listen.

Long time OGSad DaySadly today marked the day I decided to unfollow this podcast that I’ve followed and listened to since it began. They have forgotten the premise of this show - take an interesting indicator of the day and discuss the topic, often shading light on something surprising and fun that other news of the day headlines are not covering (interesting and surprising are key words here). But instead, now they skim through headline news topics that I can get in any other show and without much interesting nor surprising insight. The non-stop giggling over unfunny things makes this not listenable even as background noise. I’m sure the show will get a new generation of listeners and fans, but sadly, not for others who loved the original show.

Dusty Baker Street IrregularsDisappointedThis used to be lively and informative podcast that didn’t sacrifice depth and accuracy for humor. That’s not the case anymore. Now the focus seems to be more on frivolity than depth. Take the recent episode about NCAA athletes. The hosts spent more time discussing Crocs styles than explaining how NIL developed. They didn’t mention the name of the case, the O’Bannon case, that forced the NCAA to change their rules. Instead they just said there was a court case and the NCAA changed their rules. If I wanted this level of fluff I’d listen to Fox.

Sarah at Indie PracticesMakes me happySomething about the hosts (especially Wailin) just makes me relaxed and happy. I love the laughter and the lighthearted approach to serious topics. Please keep it up!

Stern_NunAlmost entirely ads and gigglingI was excited to listen because I thought it would be an efficient way to get some basic familiarity with these Econ topics, but the ads (which make up most of the runtime) and the very intrusive giggling make it hard to even catch what they’re addressing. What I have been able to parse has not been substantive.

the burning inchWhere’s the beef?!A few interesting ideas, but they barely graze the surface, add an intro, outro, and an ad spot and why am I listening to this? Some of us still have an attention span and nobody’s catering to us.

Woodrow GattThis is my FAVORITE podcastI just wish it were longer than 10 minutes!

EfbrazilThe best show from NPR, by farThis show is awesome, especially Wailin Wong. She’s a bit like a young Anne McElvoy. Great fun, great insight, always a step ahead and always genuinely fun and funny. The other hosts are fine too, but more traditional. I wish Ezra Klein and Planet Money / The Indicator would jettison from their mother ships (the NYT and NPR). Other shows on those networks are just elitist liberal spin. They could join up with The Rest is History and Stuff You Should Know to create a podcast network that is actually interesting.

JT123@@A great podcast for kindergartner level economicsA podcast that is often bereft of basic understandings of economics and slanted by the clear political views of the hosts.

singhularityI agree with the “Hosts need to be replaced” reviewerFor the past several months, there has been too much giggling and cackling on the show. It’s really childish and quite irritating. It’s gotten to the point that if I hear it, I immediately delete the episode and move on to another show. Please do something about it. I really used to enjoy listening to the Indicator.
-
JK SeattleUseless and not helpfulNew format and new hosts please. This show is more about the hosts trying to entertain and not at all about reporting useful information. There’s too much emphasis on the personalities and personal opinions of the hosts and really just distracts for the importance of the topics they are pretending to care about.

Long time CU memberHosts need to be replacedThis podcast used to be really good and enjoyable to listen to. The content is great but the current hosts are horrible. Like giggly teenagers. I have resorted to simply reading the transcript for the content. Please replace them.

BaustinABoringPseudo intellectual self gratifying conversation. Used to be interesting. Now it’s boring.

J$7Indigator is great, but ads are annoying. The podcast is great, but I’m tired of hearing the same advertisements for other the same other NRP podcasts 10x a day. Stop it. This is my voice and I won’t change it for anyone!! This is my voice and I won’t change it for anyone!! This is my voice and I won’t change it for anyone!! Azr613Usually goodEpisode on Israel was shockingly antisemitic. Stick to economics.
-
prion_loverWonderful podcastI have enjoyed listening to the podcast for several years including while I lived in Taiwan. I enjoy the bite-sized daily economic news peppered with the wit and humor of the crew. I have gained a better appreciation of economics through this podcast and its parent, Planet Money. This podcast helps keep one informed of current affairs. It’s well worth the listen for those who may not have a degree in economics.

sunshine scooterKeeps me in the loopI enjoy the topics and helps keep me up to speed with just the right length of shows

Mictaka8My Stars Go To WailinAnyone else have a fan crush on Wailin? I’m routinely impressed by her creativity, as it’s easy to learn which episodes have her fingerprints on them. Her banter, sound design and storytelling make this show better than its older Planet Money sibling.

A dollar sh0rtLike it but…Can’t deal with Darien’s voice
-
MKULTRA83Useless and annoyingNot to mention they’re praising the system that enslaves humanity. Pretty, annoying, uncle toms. Traitors to humanity.
-
crackpotfanUsed to be greatThis podcast used to be great. Once Cardiff and Stacy left, the podcast continuously went downhill. Now listening to the hosts’ biases makes it unlistenable.

mwpmanSo disappointingI’ll give 2stars for at least bringing up the issue of our public debt. The simple (balanced appearing) story features a debt “hawk” and a debt “dove” discussing whether the public debt is really a bad thing or not. In this somewhat academic discussion, nobody considers how this debt will ever be paid! A pretty important detail just ignored. That sure makes debt seem better. As I said, so disappointing. I hope for, and expect more, from NPR.

realitystrikesbackYou literally steal our tax dollars for the leftist propagandaDefund NPR immediately
-
zmoney221Pure propagandaNext time you feel the need to put out another episode, ask yourselves if it’s a public good or if you just like hearing yourselves talk.

ae142920% adsNice show, but it’s <10 min with 2+ minutes of ads.

Unbias, valuable showUnbiasedwhat I really like about planet money, specifically the indicator is they focus on the hot issues affecting the economy and provide valuable insight with opinions from both sides. The Rhino Horn story really exemplifies this, they had both people who thought synthetic rhino horns would be a really great thing, and others including from both economists and environmentalists who argued that it would harm wild rhinos. Fantastic reporting, fantastic show! All the haters should actually try listening to an episode; the best part is they are usually super short! Some of these reviews are wild!

That nerdy kidStop hatingStop hating on the indicator. Just because you’re a Republican doesn’t mean you have to hate on a bunch of NPR shows!!!😡👎👎👎
-
sabbynessAll FizzThe show is all fizz and noise and much less thoughtful reporting and insight.
-
Liberal Austin HawkNeeds some adult supervision +1The recent episode of this show jackknifed into the end of Planet Money seemed a bit uninformed at first. As it went on “uninformed” grew to wildly ignorant. (*form a bit back) These guys are cute but shame NPR’s good name. I feel a lot of the terrible-ness is about the short format, but many podcasts keep things short and complete. The Indicator picks one or two views on a topic and blithely ignore the rest.
-
Wetland EcologistThey report my realityAs a millennial who has been personally and financially effected by literally every single mini-recesssion, inflation event, employment dip, and housing bubble or boom, I appreciate the transparency and reporting about my lived economic experience.

ncDinoPanama Canal showWailin, Patty, love the show, listen to it weekly! But on the Panama Canal show, you didn’t explain the obvious question, if they’re running out of fresh water, why not use the sea water to help lift ships in the locks?! Seems like there would be an endless supply of sea water?! Thanks I’ll take my answer offline! 🤓

KP20007Short and sweet!Really interesting.

LittleroundhouseJust so-soPositives: short episodes that touch on relevant & timely subjects Big con: Please hosts, stop finding the need to laugh or chuckle at every piece of news delivered. I love a light hearted tone and the world is heavy, but laughing at every prospect of disheartening economic news that affects families/individuals is incredibly annoying- it’s not time to deliver a tight-5 every episode. Ugh.

listener_kcTaking away previously free episodes to move them to subscribers only is annoyingI’ve been listening to The Indicator from the very beginning. I love this podcast. HOWEVER, I am extremely annoyed that now that they have a subscription option, they have gone back and removed access to episodes that were released prior to the subscription option. I had saved episodes removed from my downloads. If you want to create the incentive to pay for the subscription, add value with new bonus episodes, don’t yank away episodes that you already gave away for free without telling your listeners. That’s shady and annoying. Because this podcast is so good otherwise, I’ve only taken off one star, but I feel manipulated and lied to.
-
CaptainCoypuOne of my go to podcastsWhile I enjoy basically every episode of the indicator, I look forward every month to jobs Friday and the Bee Gees! What a way to make economics, fun, accessible, and informative. Thank you!

JohnodonSpreading confusion about BitcoinThese fools said Bitcoin isn’t a currency because you can’t buy a bagel at the local coffee shop in America. By that definition, most foreign currencies don’t pass the test. My local coffee shop doesn’t accept the Japanese Yen. So I guess Japanese money isn’t real? Why does this podcast hand the microphone to the uninformed like Ben McKenzie instead of the well informed like Jack Mallers? Because they don’t want you to exit the ponzi scam called the US Dollar.

Swim#1Love this podcastBeen listening to this podcast for years and I love it! I always learn something I didn’t know in ten minutes or less. The hosts are funny and interesting and I always recommend it to my friends and family.

Horton McKinneyBiasYou all used to cover true economics and the free market. Now you just cover bias unfounded theories that defy true economics. Has gone to the garbage.
-
J. TieFocusing on fringe economicsI used to really enjoy listening to this podcast until the episode on “greedflation”—company greed causing inflation in the economy. Although the hosts note this is not a mainstream view held by most economists, the content just irked me. At least interview another economist to provide the opposing viewpoint and provided a fairer representation. As an economist, I would say the story of inflation is far more nuanced and complex than some of your episodes would suggest. Do the world some justice by not explaining inflation dynamics in a way that just confirms your priors.

Pete12321.Bad dataUsually I’m a huge fan and a daily listener. But I don't tolerate Bad data from the data geeks. Joking about shortening showers on a Colorado river story is the problem. 79% of the water goes to ag and farming. Pretending an individual can solve the problem is the problem, and I don’t go to the news to be part of the problem. 1 star.

raven1537Woke NPRThis state-affiliated podcast used to be pretty good. Sadly it’s become just another intellectually simple podcast that u would expect from NPR. 90% of the podcasts revolve around climate change, sexism, or racism. Well, perceived climate change, sexism and racism. According to this podcast climate change is responsible for literally every single negative thing that happens in your life. Netflix doesn’t have anything good on this month? Climate change. No more chicken fries at Burger King? Climate change. Maybe racism too though….
-
LeftyBSI just can’t anymoreThis show used to have lots of interesting information but it’s turned into a left wing talking point show. Imagine being dumb enough to think forest fires are caused by global warming.
-
PhillingroovyState Affiliated MediaThe Biden climate episode was a one-sided fluff piece. I’ll give 2 stars because it was quite informative if you’re a Democrat/climate activist.
