Мария М & ЯBest legal podcast in the time of doom and gloomLove what you do! Every episode gives me chuckles and/or puts a smile on my face.
-
kms_23Great Hosts! My favorite part of this show is the dynamic between the hosts. Joe, Chris, and Kathryn are hilarious and entertaining, especially when they’re giving Joe a hard time about talking about work during the ‘small talk’ segment. Such a fun show!
-
Geek7More Elie , please!Good topics, funny-ish hosts, nice succinct format. Buuuuut, can we get more guest appearances from Elie Mystal. Please and thank you 🙃
-
😉BarbDisappointedThe title of this podcast is very misleading. The episode I listened to was nothing but Democratic politics. The hosts are not lawyers. They don’t appear to have common sense. I’m certainly not up for a podcast where I keep hearing well I think, it could be, but if they did this. No thanks!

RealRates28383849Joe please stop interruptingLiterally Joe…please
-
Greentea cupzThis podcast is 5 starsI look forward to it every week. Love the hosts. Great topics.

AskingTheFanLove the show butWish Joe would be a little more playful in the banter. He’s kinda a downer and it takes away from the pep that the other two bring to the show.
-
Wine 4Poor analysis - annoying self righteousThe presumption that they are categorically morally correct in their “analysis” is beyond annoying. I would have thought they could argue or discuss any legal topic in a more holistically balanced manner. News flash the Left is also authoritarian and biased - and I am a democrat. Clearly not discerning and critical thinkers. Good idea for a podcast. Poor execution.

desfauxamisRising 3L - Team #SmallTalkFirst generation law student here. Commenting after scrolling through and seeing tons of non-lawyers commenting with hate. If you wanna learn the law, learn the law. I appreciate this podcast for what it is and find it incredibly informative as someone just starting a legal career. Even references to hours at firms are validating to hear. Keep the small talk please—it’s helpful for baby lawyers to hear! Editing to say I took finals during riots on our law school quad in DC. Finals were moved to white plastic folding tables where we sat 2 per table across from each other. Chaotic setting and only found out exam location 2 hours prior. Told it’d be “off site” away from riots. It was not off-site. exam on the day bizarre campout started was moved AT EXAM TIME to location closer to the riots. Our class was paraded in front of the riots—dead sprint to get to the new room and start our exam. Law student success has been ignored for the sake of non-law students who live on the internet.

TravelingFootballDadPolitical hacksI don’t expect hosts to be pro one political view or another - but these hosts are clearly anti-Republican at every turn. I think they would explode if they said one positive thing about a Republican. Call it a commentary podcast if you want but don’t masquerade it as anything legally intellectual. Shame, wanted to like it - have it 4 months but I’m done..

dymphna515Love the showThis group is hilarious - I wish the segments were longer though!

Ash, AZStrong 3 starsThis was the first legal podcast I started listening to and now they make up my entire library. In my opinion, Above the Law covers way too much big law. I could not care less, given the high stakes climate consuming the legal world right now. Better for those with a more casual interest in law, rather than a means of pursuing a better and more equitable society. Also—30 minute podcasts are not eligible for small talk segments. I don't make the rules. Thanks for everything, as I'm unfollowing this show for now!
-
lopkhgf nkrxhSmall talk ?The whole thing is small talk, what even is small talk , idk anymore, but what I do know is that you can probably learn more law by watching 5 minutes of keeping up with the kardashians.
-
t78tt.rFar too much small talk not enough law or analysisThe small talk is mind-numbing. After 10-15 minutes of what did you do/eat/watch this weekend you get to actually hear legal analyis. Sorry but I unsubbed.
-
Please- no nicknames 😊Supreme CourtPlease ask KR to stop laughing at her own jokes.

ImHereLABoring Chit Chat Ruins ItImmediately unsubscribed when Joe said hey we have an amazing episode for you but let’s ease into it with some chit chat. He literally says that. This is marketing 101 BIG NO. Get to the valuable content right away. What makes him think we want to listen to some guy named Joe who nobody knows nor cares about (sorry but true) randomly talk about mundane stuff?

TylerBenoit82How long does it take to claim the title of long time listener?Been listening to the show for what feels like at least a couple years… how long has the show been around? I believe this show to be the first legal podcast I listened to and I still love it do to this day!! However long it has been aired and however long I have been listening to it, I am not going anywhere! Keep it up guys and gal!
-
JohnshirYada yadaYada yada writing this to spite Joe yada yada

Shawn from COProbably the only electrician listening, hopefully notLongtime listener, since Elie and Joe. Electrician/“Sparky” by trade. Listening to the Legal Talk Network engages my mind in different ways and helps me to understand legalese (a little) AND the National Electrical Code(how to interpret). Love the banter. Left leaning for sure but with appropriate explanations. Keep it up, at minimum I’m getting something from this production.

AllstateballstateChris is overdue for an actual, good microphoneIs this a zoom call or a podcast? Get my man an actual microphone! Joe and Kathryn’s audio is fine, but Chris’s mic quality has been a (for as long as he’s been a host) gripe/pet peeve of mine that I’ve had for awhile now. I otherwise enjoy tuning in to get more nuanced or detailed takes on legal news. I listen most weeks.

jcz0123InterruptingIf the interruptions stop, I stop listening- love the show- and the clear chemistry you all have even when you pretend you don’t <3
-
antonio28723Very one sided. It’s more politics than law.
-
Jlingerfelt80Not a prismWithin the description it was obvious that the only lens these people look through is the liberal progressive lens. I could only stand 15 minutes before it was too much and turned it off.
-
elle 5000Wish it were sharp legal analysisI could deal with the irritating back and forth if issues and cases were presented and analyzed well, but it’s more of a muddy chat.
-
Mr RappPerfectPerfect mix of law and fun for this non-lawyer to really enjoy.
-
Xandra GonzalesLove thisI enjoy this so much as I prepare for law school and entering the work force. I’ve learned quite a bit about law schools and firms. Their opinions and thoughts when talking about cases are enjoyable and unfiltered. Five stars!
-
lilcofeBring back Elie!I know he left, but either way, this is the most entertaining legal podcast I’ve heard even if it’s über left.
-
AppMama2Interesting sometimes too goofySound effects —> thumbs down Don’t mind the liberal leaning. Data shows the more education you have, the more likely you are to be liberal. These are folks (Americans w/post grad degrees) in the upper 15% of Americans in terms of education so it’s no surprise and representative of their status in our society.
-
AugiegradVery biased / waste of timeHosts were too biased that it discounted their opinions. More like a liberal commercial
-
racegirl28InterestingProtracted laugh is a bit much, but I cringed through it for the interesting discussion.
-
QuickSamThinking like a liberalSad because there is so much potential here. But, once again we are subjected to the hive mind. The unreasonable bias here is strong enough to mortally injure the credibility.
-
Timberwolf219Best law podcastGreat analysis of law. Does law really well. Great Supreme Court analysis. Great response to former President Trump. Great analysis of former POTUS. Excellent Law blog. Excellent Law podcast. Excellent Biglaw podcast. Excellent Law school podcast. Excellent LSAT podcast. Excellent Bar Exam Podcast. Excellent political podcast. #Law #SupremeCourt #LSAT #BarExam #Biglaw #lawschool #USNWR
-
JoeynscMostly reasonable opinionsI think that for the most part they give very sound opinions. They do at times show a strong political leaning. Not surprising. I will continue to listen for now. Unless it becomes Rachel Maddow unhinged, I think the information will outweigh the political bias.
-
MurderNoteQuick updatesI listen to a lot of different podcasts. I keep this one in the mix because it’s less in depth than my other choices. I like that it’s a shorter podcast and not super heavy. I enjoy the small talk at the beginning. However, I often skip it because I absolutely hate the horn sound effect. It’s jarring and has often made me consider unfollowing. If that wasn’t a thing, I’d give it 5 stars.
-
1994ruppToo PoliticalVery political
-
taken an LTerribleMore opinions than actual law
-
DK360The dumbassery of the Republican Party……Look moron, it’s your vote that put this complete imbecile in office and look at us now…. And cops shoot unarmed black kids? Now that’s a stupid statement. You both are idiots on this episode.
-
HeartedRecordsNot Worth Your Time.Show is not representative of legal opinions or even educational on the law. The level of arrogance and political bias of the current hosts is astounding. And such bias is presented as the mainstream. Go listen to Advisory Opinion, it is much more fair, honest, educational, and entertaining.
-
Seth with TwinsThis belongs on CNN+Loud and liberal, with some legal news in between.
-
$eventhGreat podcastI thoroughly enjoy the podcast and Joe Patrice’s soundboard. I would love to hear about a topic or single issue in much more depth. Go, Joe!
-
Nonamex1678Small talkTakes way too long to get to the point of the discussion
-
raven5321Too PoliticalContent is not what is described in the show description at all. Ultra liberal. Even if you are too, there are far better options out there to scratch that itch than this. Don’t waste your time.
-
NotALawer...Interesting perspective…I am not a lawyer but became interested in the subject and started listening to NUMEROUS legal podcasts. These guys have an interesting take on the current ‘events’ in the legal field. Love the banter and teasing. Love that the content delivery is pedestrian—very little jargon. Overall, the 30 min podcast gives me a smile and some insight into the legal ‘industry’
-
Top gear bugattiPolitics not LawThe description of this podcast is that it goes over legal ideas and legal ramifications of whatever given situation. This isn’t true. It is just three people, who are very left leaning, which is not a bad thing, discussing their political points of view. I can get my lefty content from any corner of the internet. There is more than anyone could want. I don’t need another leftist podcast, i wanted to hear legal topics being discussed and to be done so efficiently. They waste your time on this podcast and just give out opinions, not legal analysis. It’s a waste of time. They hosts are also very annoying, but that is a personal opinion. Objectively, they do not deliver what they propose to.
-
OhioSean“Smug”Like a less-refined Bill Mahrer: smug political commentators misrepresent and attack people and ideas they don’t like. At least Bill occasionally invited a lone dissenting voice.
-
BW_50Thinking like a LawyerThis is not thinking like a lawyer. The law is seldom touched upon. Its a cutesy exchange of self-affirming social slights and pop culture commentary. Twitter without the word limit. So disappointed.
-
janisburroughsToo much jibberNot enough content
-
podcasta-nistaEnjoy the show but the cheesy sound effects…I enjoy tuning into the show each week. But, for the love of God, do away with the cringy sound effects. They aren’t funny and add nothing. I have enjoyed Chris’s guest appearances. He’s witty. I would like to hear more substantive comments from him, however.
-
Bradley karateLong time, first timeI have listened from the beginning and still look forward to the weekly podcast. I work in a mid-sized firm in the Midwest and love hearing about Big-law, law school, and legal news. I miss the annual award show though! Great podcast.
