BradaliusGreat Podcast! Highly recommend.BBC podcasts never disappoint. This show is thorough, informative, and enjoyable (for lack of a better word considering the upsetting subject matter). I was quite young when the siege of Waco happened and I have always been curious to learn more about the motivations behind the cult as well as the siege. This podcast really gives an insider look at the British perspective.

shyandlonely28different perspectivelowkey makes americans seem lower class than brits; aside from that, it’s a brilliant podcast

Amlash63Very InterestingGood to hear the perspective from the British survivors and families of the 30 deceased citizens. The Waco tragedy still resonates 30 years later 🙏

miss cghA different perspectiveBeing from the US, I wasn’t aware of this connection! I appreciate hearing the story from a different angle, really well done.

antwandodsonEntertains but a lot of unsubstantiated information and rumors passed as factTitle says it all. Especially the account given by reporter (Danielle McKormick?) You can actually hear her fumbling when asked for supporting evidence or sources!

Clinton1111One SidedNow investigate ATF, go back to Ruby ridge. Is there corruption in these agencies? A good investigation looks at BOTH sides

MhbrckGreat follow-up to Netflix WacoJust finished watching Waco on Netflix and I have learned that it is always good to follow up with multiple sources of additional information after these docu-dramas. While I believe what happened there was horrible, it is excellent to gain some additional information about the Branch of Davidians religion and to learn about more than the core members.

piratesswoopGreat Interviews, Some Shoddy ResearchThe interviews they have are fantastic, some great insight into the British members of the Davidians who don’t often get much airtime. I wish the host had been a little more persistent with Livingston Fagan and Sheila Martin when questioning them about Koresh’s involvement with underage girls by bringing up Michelle Jones and Aisha Gyarfas, but the interviews were really eye opening. However several pieces of research stated as fact are actually untrue, so it makes me question what other things they’ve mentioned that were also not accurate. For example, in the fifth episode, the host states that six Davidians died on the day of the February raid, “including children” but in reality, no children died until the April 19 fire. The six Davidians who died were all adults. One was holding her child at the time she was shot and killed, and another woman was shot in the hand while holding her toddler. but no actual kids were shot on February 28.

ExPatCatRe examining and rethinking WacoI'm a native Texan (raised near Waco) who had recently moved to the UK when all of this happened (At the time I could tell I had a very different take on the situation than many of the British around me). There is fault on every side and this piece does an admirable job of presenting new evidence shedding more light on this terrible episode. I have great sympathy for families who tried to stop relatives from going with Koresh and I'm especially sad for those who tried to extract them from the compound. But most, I appreciated the incredulous tones of the presenters as they looked at the mindsets of otherwise sensible people encountering the forcefield of David Koresh.

Niban #2djFascinatingI had no idea re the British connection. Also, really interesting to hear a story I thought I knew well through the eyes of the U.K.

Lucy_Lulu_LuciaSensitive exploration of a complex storyI appreciated the nuanced approach the reporting team took to understanding the story and tracing its resonance today from its roots 25 years ago. The sound design and mixing evoke the slowly building crisis chillingly, but without sensationalizing it. By the end, you really empathize with the victims and can better imagine how any of us could become vulnerable to deception and abuse.

Overdressed1234Outstanding!I grew up in north east Texas in in early 90s and so I was very familiar with the story of Waco - or so I thought! This story was shocking, interesting and heartbreaking. The production value is amazing and the journalism is top notch.

EverythingIsFigureoutableRIVETING!How does this not have more reviews? This is an exceptional piece of journalism, better by far than anything out there on The Branch Davidians. I listened to the whole thing in the span of one weekend - I was so enthralled.

Teacher808Surprising Perspective on an Infamous EventI did not know so many British people followed and died for Koresh. This is a fascinating story about a frustrating and sad event. Religious grifters preying on the confused and deluded are a dime a dozen in America and this one spread his crazy all the way across the Atlantic. One final note, that LivingSTONE guy sounds like he still has potential to be a religious terrorist. Anybody still claiming to be a Branch Dividian should be locked up for the good of humanity.

Jack_McCoyGreatSad tale of Waco seige told through a bunch of Britons who were followers of David Koresh. We hear from survivors, their followers, a lady who’s still a Branch Davidian adherent, journalists and more. Sound design is great, with archival audio, original interviews, layered sound effects and excellent use of somber music and low, menacing tones.

tina4wvBingeworthy!!I just spent a Sunday afternoon glued to my Bluetooth speakers listening to this podcast. I watched the events at the Branch Davidian compound unfold on TV all those years ago, never realizing just how far David Koresh's evil influence had reached. Incredibly captivating and heartbreaking. Well done, Chris and the BBC5 Live podcast team.

Mairs1976Very Interesting PerspectiveI was in high school here in the United States when this standoff came to it’s disastrous end. I recall watching the compound burn on live television. The British citizens that died, and the lawsuit filed on their behalf is all new to me. The BBC did an excellent job telling this tragedy in a different way than we have all committed it to our memory.
