    Rund, PLEASE, the Ts!
For the nth time I beg you Rund. Please pronounce the Ts in words where they need to be pronounced. It’s not Supreme Core. It is Supreme Court. It is not quow. It’s quote. It’s not spore. It’s sport. And so on and so forth. It gets too distracting listening to someone missing required sounds in the English language. Please make an effort to enunciate your Ts.

    Great topics …
Terrible hosts. Ignorant, poorly prepared, bad interviewers who miss obvious follow up questions, etc. I’ve tried to suffer through a few episodes because the topics were interesting but I finally gave up.

    Great podcast
Fantastic but it does go in depth a bit so have some time on your hands; it hits deep sometimes.

    Sound effects too distracting
The topics and hosts on Througline are great, but the background sound effects are WAY too distracting and make it unlistenable. They’re at a 15, and need to take it to a 3. Or better yet, stop it.

    Not for me …
I only made it through four minutes — the overly dramatic intro backed by the schmaltzy mood music took me back to similar presentations in my fourth grade class. I have no doubt that the hosts of this podcast are brilliant professionals with a grasp of history much greater than mine. My suggestion and hope is that future podcasts will be targeted at the level of intelligent high schoolers. Please consider us as historically uninformed folks who are curious but not stupid. Thank you.

    Ideological
It’s a good show but too political and biased for public radio. Weird bias towards Hezbollah and Iran-backed militias

    Love this pod!
Finding this podcast through NPR has been such a gift to my brain. I love learning about history in ways that aren’t dry and lifeless. I appreciate the research, production, and humor of this show. Keep making work you all are proud of and ignore the grumpy, pompous reviewers. My message to them, if you don’t like it, go listen to a million other things. Go make your own show. Find something you do like and pour all that enthusiasm into hyping it up. I can’t imagine loathing anything enough to waste that many words on it. Move on and hush.

    Stop with the background music
The background music takes away from the content and is so distracting. I’ve stopped listening for this reason. Please stop.

    LA Water story
Very disappointed in the LA water story. This episode made the common mistake of thinking the story is about the podcasters and not about the story. Don’t want to hear about the podcaster going there, they’re slow driving etc etc. The talking and giggling was so slow an drawn out, people don’t really want to hear this. Not up to the Throughline standards.

    Terrible Production
I occasionally try to listen to this show because their topics and perspectives are very interesting to me. But the direction and audio design are amateurish, bordering on bizarre. Listen to just the recent Dickens episode. Every voice has been post-processed in a different way, and sometimes one character’s voice changes from moment to moment; nothing makes sense; it’s distracting and baffling, and it makes me wonder how people working professionally in a storytelling medium which has existed for more than a century can have so like competency. Some of the actors are capable and natural, and some are not. I’m not someone who easily blames actors for bad performances. Performing artists need to be given tools to succeed, and it’s clear that nobody who is part of this show has ever recognized that good acting requires good direction. I don’t know why they insist on creating flimsy dramatizations of history when that’s not the wheelhouse of anyone on the staff. I also can’t conceive of any reason why experience hasn’t made them better at the format they’ve chosen. They’re still terrible at it, and their listeners need to let them know that they are falling short. From what I can tell they are mostly journalists and historians, and those jobs are important. But artists and creative technicians are important too, and there don’t seem to be any artists or creative technicians on Throughline’ staff. Mostly they just record what seem like single-takes of undercooked and underdirected readings of different pieces of old texts, and they believe that by getting someone to do a British accent and adding lots of reverb in post that they’ve done their job. I could go on and on. Please at least hire a proper director for one of your shows. Great theatre and audio directors are actually all over the place, and the most shocking thing about Throughline is that your producers haven’t stumbled upon even one before now. The ineptitude is staggering!

    I always learn something fascinating!
Throughline is always excellent: thoughtful, well researched, adding depth to some topics and issues I might have only vaguely known about, or not known about at all. I especially loved the recent episode on the history of Dickens’ A Christmas Carol, a story I’ve always loved. Now I love it even more! Thank you! 🎄

Confused about how we got to this point in history?
This is THE BEST, most well researched show on radio that explains historical events as they influence this crazy, confused world we now inhabit!
  • Tylore801
    Very informative!
Started listening to get a better grasp on the Palestinian conflict. Was not disappointed! The pod cast is well produced and offered good insights and greater context to the problem. Excited to to listen to other topics!

    Is it that hard?
Just present both sides EQUALLY and let the listeners make up their own minds…you know, journalism?
  • 82Grad
    Thought provoking
A well researched and insightful presentation of historical reality.

    Yet another lie!
You just couldn’t help yourselves getting the banning book lie out there at the end. Limiting children’s viewing of pornographic and sexual images is not book banning!
  • Qwerty3251
This has potentionally to be better
The episodes that is just purely telling history are great. But there’s too many episodes I find myself quitting half way through because it is just so heavily biased. Taking people out of context, refusing to give credit where credit is due, putting people into extreme categories that very few people actually belong in, and just plain ignoring actual facts and promoting misinformation. Stick to just the history, and let the audience conclude things for themselves. Stop trying to twist it to fit an agenda and many more people will listen. Incredibly tone deaf and hateful at many points.

    Wow! Where have I been?
A friend recommended this podcast a few weeks ago and I've been hooked since then. Wow! What history I'm learning about as I do more research after listening to these episodes. I'm starting from the beginning, 2019, and going through it all because I haven't learned so a lot of this in school and college. A must for those who still value truth in history. We know they're trying to pass legislation in various states to prevent history from being taught, so listen to this.

    Beautiful
The first class story telling is really great. I truly love learning about history and this team does a fantastic job of explaining drawing pictures in my mind. Thanks Throughline

    Thank you, Throughline!
I have learned so much about the history of our country and the world as a whole. This podcast puts things in perspective with factual reporting.

    One of the best!
I have listened to many different podcasts for many years. This is one of the absolute best. in my opinion, the topics, the quality of the research, the quality of the production and the calm, clear, unbiased way it is presented, makes it shine above most others. Enjoy!

    Excellent Deep Dive Into Hitory
Thoroughly researched and beautifully produced. An excellent, detailed, immersive deep dive into history, hosted by two of NPR’s most talented journalists.

I hope it gets better but never does
Perhaps one of the most biased podcasts on the NPR platform. I know what’s coming, but am still wowed by it every time.

    High hopes, but biased podcast
Ive listed to many NPR podcast, and I had high hopes for this podcast. I have listed for a long time, but it keeps demonstrating how biased it truly is. I can no longer subscribe. It’s blatantly anti-Western, anti-Israel, and anti-the facts. Enough virtue signaling please!

    Excellent
So well researched. The episode on settlements was very informative, even for someone who has followed the illegal expansion of settlements for many years. Thank you for shining light on this important issue.

    Leftist activism psyop
Everything these days is a psyop for one side or the other, this podcast is clearly in support of the establishment. As long as you understand that fact, this podcast is quite well done and very informative for understanding current leftist perspectives, talking point, and what the oligarchy (the man) might have planned on the horizon.

    Always fascinating and informative
I always appreciate the depth and nuance with which Throughline illuminates the chapters of history that are the context and backdrop for our world today. Thank you for the erudite storytelling and excellent treatment of the auditory landscape of the stories you bring to life.

    Over produced - content light
I wish they’d spend more time telling the story than sound effects. I do not come away knowing the through line of history.

    New info
Always the most fascinating info, love this podcast, thank you!
  • Cocoman18
    Thoughtful but clearly biased
I agree with others that the show has tremendous potential. Is it well edited and produced and tells good stories - but clearly takes a strong anti-western anti-Israel (and all that entails in progressive SLT s this show caters to) perspective - mostly in the choice of what it chooses to emphasize and highlight and add powerful imagery to it what it chooses to not put tools on display for . For example, in the episode on HezboIlah, most of the episode highlights their inspiring origin as freedom fighters and counterpoints that with a gruesome conditions in the southern Lebanon prison (run by Lebanese with unsaid but implied supervision by the Israelis) and yet chooses far more hygienic language and descriptiosn throughout on hezbollahs actions and ideologies and Irans orchestration of the violence in the region. Overall the show is informative but would be so much more refreshing and powerful if it could take a less biased perspective.

    Where’s the 5th?
I discovered this program recently and the specific series “We the People”. As I listen to new episodes of the show I go back to pick up the ones I’ve missed re: WTP. I have not been able to track down an episode on the 5th Amendment. Can you help? Fabulous show!

    Love this pod!
Very few misses here, and great interesting topics!

    Topics and interruptions
Love the topics explored, but the narrators interrupt people interviewed to correct their pronunciation or take over the comment themselves. Also the show is interrupted by listener comments (I’m so and so from X City and I listen to Throughline). Interruptions make it difficult to listen to the program.

    Great show but be careful
I love this show but be a little careful with their facts. In Jerusalem episode they claim pope urban called for crusade to jerusalem however he was really talking about anatolia and todays turkey. The crusade morphed.

    One of my faves
Love this podcast, the episodes are always well researched, well spoken & very interesting. The hosts do a great job of covering all the bases & serving up an intelligent, well-rounded pod. Thanks guys!

    In depth content
The topic covered don’t require you to lean right or left they invite you to open your mind to the context and guests who bring you the information. Thank you to all who strive to bring the history we take for granted out in the open for a good airing! Keep up the great work!

    Conspiracy Files
So much time repeating half-baked excrement without acknowledging that the revolution in communications is in its infancy and is at least as much a cause/source of distrust as the swaggering arrogance of the purveyors of lies and fever dreams. And then...nothing... nothing in all your reporting made you wonder, "How do we counter dangerous misinformation?"?
  • Dakota58102
Ramtin, please say “ah” and not “ayee” for the indefinite article
“Ayee” sounds so amateurish. “Ah” good idea instead of “ayee” good idea. However, the information in the podcast is valuable.

    Absolutely a must-listen
This could be required listening for all Americans.

    Excellent show. Audio needs attention
Volume of hosts voices are often inconsistent with guest, so need to keep adjusting volume.

    Bill of Rights series— excellent!
Just listened to Episode #305 about the Third Amendment. Thank you for the in-depth research, the expert interview, and the description of court cases. My high school civics course pretty much skipped over this amendment as being of only historical interest before and during the Revolutionary War. You gave such clear recent examples of why we still need this right. Thanks again! I will be following every episode of this series.

    Typical
Anything from NPR is so far left And biased that anyone in the center or to the right will find it insufferable. Just another echo chamber for the far left

Audio messed up on latest episode
Fades out every minute or so missing a lot of audio!!!

    What’s with the Audio Drops?
Usually, the audio quality of “Throughline” is impeccable. But the latest episode - in Througline+ no less! - had periodic audio drops that took out so many words that it made it unlistenable. Obviously, this isn’t what I’m paying extra for.

    Poor quality-legal representation episode
The audio cut out off and on the entire episode.

    Needs to reach further
Doesn’t do an effective job reaching across the isle. Try employing podcasters with views on the other side and see if you can meet somewhere in the middle. Your views and opinions lack breadth.

Love the show, but please fix the audio
This show is one of the most important podcasts out there and I listen regularly, always learning something new. In the latest episode on the sixth amendment (re public defenders) the audio of the voices cuts out every few seconds. This is not an issue with my device buffering the audio in general, as the music continues flawlessly while the voices lose every few words. Please check your noise gate level or something—I want to listen to this episode but the audio is so jarring I cannot process it.

    We The People Series
