    Just okay
It’s rather lacking as a true crime/ law podcast. At least one episode has a disturbing amount of victim blaming. Some episodes are really good to fall asleep to though, something about the hosts voice is relaxing as long as he’s not doing phone interviews.

    Has potential
Interesting cases in a poorly assembled podcast. The factual presentations of the case lack flow but are generally a concise, non biased representation. However, are interrupted with “round table discussions” that are sensationalizing and victim blaming all over the place. Interviewing witnesses, family members, and other previously involved in the cases give the podcast life

    Episode unavailable
Wish I could give a real review! Unfortunately, the first two episodes are unavailable. I haven’t tried any others.

    Everything but her socks episode
Scott fixating on a woman keeping a diary of her sexual partners was disappointing. The way he acted as if it was the strangest thing anyone could do was extremely off putting. The woman was a victim of an unspeakable crime, it was hardly that important to the story to bring it up nearly 5 times. Disappointed in the victim shaming that occurred in that episode.

    Are you kidding me
Such a horrible injustice, the good citizen Stanley was framed by the criminal justice system!!! It’s worth mentioning sat this monster stabbed an inmate to death( self defense of course) , molested a 9 year old girl, he is also a cocaine dealer. It’s terrifying how these monsters manipulate media and people and criminal system, what a hypocrite lawyers. But beautifully narrated, I like the hostess

    She spoils them
I’ve intersected with a lot of parents as a volunteer. Whenever they’re feeling insecure about their parenting they talk about all the Christmas presents they bought for the kids last year. They often pull out their phone or point to a photo on the fridge of a Christmas tree with a pile of presents. It seems to be the goto excuse to alleviate their guilt and anyone’s suspicions of neglect. Or worse. One day a year they exclaim, “oh I spoil these kids.”

    Just Ok..
As a podcast in the past, it probably would’ve been a pace setter for true crime convictions... but the production as a whole is still stuck in the past. There is a complete lack of editing background noises and there’s definitely not fine tune editing... There’s not really a background on the cases themselves... it’s like reading a small newspaper column somewhere in the middle of the paper; it’s just a quick overview. The episodes would be worth the listen if the stories were always multi-part series... That brings me to the number one issue, if there isn’t much of a story then PLEASE don’t drag out ONE ad for FIVE Minutes! Keep it short & sweet and/or speed up your talking!! I even heard the papers being turned over while very slowly reading script. Repetitive ads are hard enough on the ears, but way worse when ONE is 1/4 the entire podcast episode!

    Bar alibis
When Stanley Liggins said he was at a bar when he called the home of Jennifer Lewis at the time she was abducted, where are all his alibis? I can't believe this wasn't brought up much if not at all.

    Like this a lot!
    Can’t wait for another season!

    I like the content!
My favorite thing about this podcast is interviewing other journalists and podcast hosts. I enjoy their input about the case, and the hosts seeking the other podcast hosts perspective is wise and adds credibility them. It has introduced me to other podcasts too!

    Racist Much!
So the two jurors in this episode said some really racist stuff. “ black people are aggressive and angry” “ black people will side with black people not matter if they are right or wrong” where are these black people that they are speaking of!!! Come on now!

    Not that great
Cases are interesting but the awkward pauses, poor recordings, and lame interviews make this so I just can’t listen or recommend this podcast.

    Suspect Convictions
Silly insights. Far too many personal and unintelligent opinions. Also between the eating and pauses, is he drunk. So hard to understand him....Lots of ads....ugh.

    Well done!!
I really enjoy this podcast. Well done straight up podcast. I like the podcasts without a bunch of music and annoying interruptions/annoying people talking. Give this podcast a try if you enjoy true crime.

    Far far away
The stories are interesting, but the sound quality is awful! Is it done on purpose? When the host is on the phone, he sounds like he’s calling from another planet. Fix the sound and I’ll give it five stars,

    A binge worthy podcast
Host does such a good job setting up the case- very good

    PLEASE Scott!!!!
I love this podcast. It’s my favorite by case and analysis by far. But you HAVE to stop with the lip smacking and background noise!!!!! It is SO distracting and unprofessional sounding!!!! It’s mainly during the interviews...you can hear your breathing and lip smacking OVER the other guests talking!!!!!!!!

    Amazing Informative Podcast
I’m personally very interested in local crime and unsolved cases. This podcast is so informative and interesting it’s honestly hard to stop listening.

    Now I Feel Bad
Ok, I wrote my (one and only ever) review about sound noises. Then I’m listening today and hear it was a tech issue. Sorry guys 😏

    Eh
I really enjoyed this podcast for the first season. After that I have been less than impressed. I download each episode and some I listen to, some I don’t. I did not enjoy the format of a case an episode because it’s all jus the same questions of the same people over and over. I live in Iowa so I was excited to see a podcast centered here but now I’ve not been as interested as I was initially. Also, the sound quality on the last episode I listened to was atrocious. He’s explaining it in this episode but honestly, he’s kind of blaming it on a lot of things when in reality, it sounded like he was chewing his food directly in to the microphone, very unprofessional. Lastly (and I’m sure I’ll get some flack for this) he finds a way to work the fact that he was molested when he was 12 years old into EVERY SINGLE EPISODE. It always starts with ‘I don’t know if you know this but...’. Fun fact, I don’t listen to the podcast to hear about him, I listen to hear about the case. I appreciate that for most part his analysis of the cases is pretty objective but when he gets the commentary I tend to tune out.

    Loved the content and research
This is one of those podcasts I love because of the content. It’s well researched, accurate work. I always look forward to each episodes. But sometimes the production value isn’t as good as others. It’s inconsistent. I think Scott and his helpers and guests on the show may not have the proper mics for really good podcast like this one. Occasionally the sound is very poor. If production value increased it would be my most favorite podcast!!

    Is the interviewer eating?
Is the interviewer eating while questioning people? This would be a great story...but I can’t listen to the eating and heavy breathing. Why would you produce something this bad?
  • Smitty512
    Love it, but
Fascinating and interesting. Only complaint is the background noises/breathing
  • October76
    Love the podcast
I love ❤️ this podcast, but please don’t interview someone with food in your mouth. It’s hard to hear the questions and answers.
  • Amanda ghakidsvhy
    I can’t focus
This story is really interesting and I’ve listened to it but honestly... is this guy eating popsicles or something while he’s speaking? Especially this last episode omg that’s all you can hear while the first interviewer is talking. I had to fast forward it was so awful. Mute yourself, please.

    Episode 33: 28 years later
Liked the first season. But episode 33: 28 years later...” had loud breathing, moving paper, sucking on something while interviewing Steve Duffy, “a jury consultant.” Totally rude both to Steve Duffy and the listeners! Why interview the guy if your going to be so unprofessional? Is this how this season is going to go? Or is it just because the you’re writing off what the guy has to say? Scott Reeder you are no Sarah Koenig.
  • StacetotheO
    Most recent episode
I really want to listen to this next part of the case moving forward, but was so distracted by the heavy breathing, shuffling of papers, what sounded like Scott eating, etc, at the beginning of the episode during the phone call with the first guest that I had to quit listening. It was so unprofessional.
  • hbomb12
    Eat on your own time!!!
I would have loved to listen to the latest episode, 28 years later, but the sound of the host devouring his lunch and smacking his lips was nauseating!
  • Shae Mack
    Loved the 1st season...
First season was great! Once they started doing one-off episodes the quality went down significantly. Now that they has started covering the first case again, the production just seems off. In the most recent episode you could hear Scott feeder eating during a phone interview! So unprofessional and distracting.

Notice more cons than pros about this podcast in general
Overall Scott, you've got an interesting story. There are a couple things that I think you could work on to present a great podcast vs. an okay podcast. The quality of sound: on almost all calls with interviewees I can hear you shuffling, breathing heavily, knocking the desk the microphone is on and possibly eating or smacking your lips? It's pretty distracting to a listener. When you respond to the interviewee could you use other words or questions than responding with, "Okay, okay."? Maybe dive right into your next question or if you have to clarify what the interviewee is saying ask specific questions. Tone of voice: you have a lot of peaks and valleys in your pitch and volume. Try to neutralize that and I think you will come off more more professional as a podcast journalist. Content: I have liked the content a lot! And the choices of professionals for interviews. I'd love to hear some news of you going out in the field, making interviews around Dubuque, other cities, etc. As listeners we want to hear from people involved in this story in present day. It feels as if some episodes do not present any new news or ideas and I think this could add something to the times you may be lacking in those episodes.

    Episode 33
Are you eating and breathing heavy while this other guy is speaking??? It’s very off putting.
  • Memememe12234455686688
    Editing external sound?
The heavy breathing and background noise has been so distracting I’m unable to focus on the story. Otherwise nice podcast for a true crime fan.

    Awesome
Such a great podcast. I’m also loving that WGLT is supporting this. Keep putting more episodes out please
  • Someone that knows.
    He murders the ads
Have no idea why he would put up his recorded ads. THEY ARE TERRIBLE. Feel sorry for anyone advertising with this podcast. I can’t even listen to what he’s talking about because his struggle through the 30 seconds to a minute of talking about a product is cringeworthy. Also the recording audio during certain parts is pretty terrible.

    Season 2
The narrator/host is too radio-guy-ish, upbeat, etc to be narrating a crime podcast. I can’t listen to it. He spoke too fast for me to let the murder details sink in.

    The Best!!
I finally have waited to long!! Today with Anthony Ray Hinton... hypnotically informative! Thank you

    Wincing.....
Scott Reeder definitely has a voice that could age cheese. Yes. It’s that bad. There should be a disclaimer before each episode. There adverts are unbearable. Beyond that, it’s a good podcast that seems to be well researched.

    The big sleazy
Sound is terrible. Can’t understand these voices.

    I like it but .....
All the episodes are not in order and when they add a new story they start back over at 1. I'm constantly downloading wrong episode. Annoying

    Suspect Convictions
Scott Reeder’s nasal voice and nose whistling and dry mouth are so very distracting and annoying. Please back off from the mic when your guest is speaking and drink some liquid to stay hydrated and cut out dairy. Like the content but all the above is really making me want to quit listening. Thanks

Started good but subsequent seasons are not
I’ve been listening since the start, and I thoroughly enjoyed the Stanley Liggins investigation. The subsequent seasons leave much to be desired. We hear lots more reporting directly from Scott Reader which is unfortunate. His voice/accent are not podcast friendly. Quite frankly, his voice is grating and I can’t stand to listen to another season. Further, subsequent seasons have lacked the facts and multiple perspectives of the first and all we hear is what Scott Reader thinks. Personally, I don’t care what he thinks because he doesn’t provide much original thought. I’m done with this podcast. Unsubscribing.

    Bad Sound Quality
I like your podcast but why is the sound quality always so bad? You really need to get that fixed. I understand that the recordings you use are what they are but even the recordings you make often sound bad.
  • Sarah Mac1
Great content, hard to listen to
Your content and storylines are engaging and very good, however the sound quality of the last several episodes are terrible. All you hear is ringing and feedback and it is quite hard to understand many of the interviews.
  • HCRushmill
    Interesting but hard to hear
I enjoy listening to the details about these cases and how there is justice for those who are wrongly convicted. My only complaint is that the audio is a little lacking in quality. Some of the phone conversations have quite a bit of static and background noise that are distracting and make it hard to hear the speaker.
  • dmradchic
    I like it, but...
Like some others have noted, the production quality is in need of some help. When people are being interviewed on the phone, it's often hard to hear over the interviewers breathing and mouth noises. Otherwise, I find the stories intriguing. Especially when discussing the science.
  • Naty9917
    Awesome
I like the podcast a lot, I have heard every episode now, and also I want to thank you for recommending Simple Contacts, I used the app and your promo code at checkout and it was so easy, I got scared again thank you so much
  • LalalisaT
Really good but I think they need to do more research
I really enjoy this podcast. They do an excellent job when they take more than one episode to cover a story. My only complaint is that they can’t cover as much with just one episode. For instance, the case against the young Corning mother was very interesting. But, I found myself researching it afterwards because I couldn’t understand why she was convicted in the first place. Some of the evidence presented at trial was compelling and the podcast never covered it. Whether that evidence was true or not, it should have been touched on. I’ll definitely keep listening, but would like more details with each case.
  • Hans 2019
    Terrible
This podcast is now the show of the maker, which is OK, but I am out. All these interviews and self centering 'crime buffs'? Why? Couldnt you continue to tell a story? I liked the first season somehow, but now in hindsight it should have been clear that the author is a self centered hypocrit.
