    Leaving the zone
This program is an antidote to the sort of reporting which, by seeking to be fair, seems puzzled and looks for arcane motives—an approach which only succeeds in treating the Babyman’s “purposeful lunacy” as worthy of considered thought. Chaos doesn’t always have depth nor does it always lead to emergent order. This podcast does solid analysis but it also calls a daffy duck a duck. Lastly, I wish that Mr. Rothkopf would lay off patronizing Minnah Stein.

    Can’t listen on Alexa
What are the magic words to say to Alexa to play your pod? Everything I’ve tried plays something else totally unrelated

    Agreed…but didn’t enjoy
Though I ascribe to a similar political ideology to the one exuded by this network, I found the primary host of the DSR Daily episode I listened to dry, joyless, and unenjoyable. God bless the young cohosts for doing good work and being good soldiers, but I doubt there is much investment in their personal or professional growth from that leadership personality. All involved are capable of more!

    Distraction
These tariffs for cars is all about distracting us from their mess up with Signal group chat!!!! Think about it, weren’t the tariffs supposed to be on April 2nd? Why now when we’re so close to that date? Flood the zone!

    Listen at your own risk
Rothkopf is a coward and can’t handle critical feedback. Comment on one of his Twitter or Bluesky threads? Get blocked. But more importantly, most of his pods are all doom and gloom with no possible hope for the future. It’s like he’s clinically depressed, not taking his meds, and he wants you to feel his depression and make you feel as hopelessly depressed as he is. I also don’t think he surrounds himself with the best and brightest. I was a paid subscriber, no longer.

    Great Job
The DSR Network is becoming one of my favorites, up there with The Bulwark and the Meidas Touch Network.

    5calls.org
I am so grateful for the DSR podcast keeping us informed as the barrage of lies from the Trump administration continues. I wanted to share 5calls.org being helpful in contacting appropriate congress people, giving info & scripts with who to contact in your area. Part of resisting is accurate information then using our voices to inform congress of harm that power grabs & dismantling government bring to us all.

    Do better!
Regarding the 4Feb Daily podcast, Mina reported on the “concessions” that Canada and Mexico have agreed to in order to pause or delay Trump tariffs. How can you possibly report this as a win for Trump? These are not “concessions,” they have agreed to continue with policy and/or action already taken. Trump is being humored like the bullying toddler he is. Mexico already has well over 10,000 military troops stationed at the U.S. border. Canada has already approved a budget that will increase their defense spending. Trump and his mouthpieces continuously flood the media with lies, half truths, and disinformation. It is your job to explain the true and accurate facts. This was not a win for Trump, and he and his sycophants must not be allowed to lie about it. Do better,

    I’m a whiner but you’re not?
It still shocks me how people are so ready to spew personal venom at pundits. If you disagree with the narrative, there’s a million other places to go silo yourself into. Your personal and vitriolic comments don’t help either side of any argument. Pretty wimpy tactic, to boot.

    Why I don’t subscribe
A comment on the DSR post-election program tonight was that Democrats must learn not to lecture others. I whole heartedly agree. Although I do listen carefully to several DSR programs, my money isn’t there for DSR because it does get lecture-y. Lecture-y and self righteous.

Adopt a cat or kitten, Reilly! It doesn’t matter if it’s a purebred - they’re all individuals and magical in their own way. David is right that it will make your life much better! You rescue them and they rescue you right back.

    Flexing their Riz!
Minna, David, and Reilly are flexing their Riz on The DSR Daily news summary pod. . . Their camaraderie and fun interactions positively complements the serious international and domestic news stories that can sometimes (let’s be honest, almost always) be an emotional headwind.

    Democratic rhetoric!
I listened to part of their podcast for the first time and convinced it’s just more Trump haters. The Democratic rhetoric demonetizing conservatives. The host are obviously Democrats and claim that they are well educated and well informed, but I beg to differ, but if you like listening to people demonizing conservatives and boasting about the Joe Biden administration then enjoy.

Has gone downhill: repetitive and political
I used to love this podcast when it was David Sanger, Kori Schake, Ed Luce and Rosa Brooks. It has undergone a steady decline. David only invites guests that agree with him and it’s barely about foreign policy or strategy anymore. It is the epitome of US narcissism where everything they discuss revolves around US policy or relates to the US election. David obsessively hates Netanyahu (fine) but fails to even talk about the geopolitics, he just cherry picks questions to his guests to ensure they criticize everything and anything done by Netanyahu. I’m not a fan of him either but the recent episode on Israel’s killing of Nasrallah and Iran’s strike against Israel was mind blowing. Such bad analysis, if it could even be called that. Concluding that Israel eliminated Nasrallah to impact the election (are you kidding me? Israel has actual threats on its border and that’s the angle you take?) not to mention Barbara’s all-around bad takes and sympathy towards the Iranian regime. There was no discussion of Israel’s strategic environment, the history of the Hezbollah-Israel conflict, why dismantling a terrorist org could change the strategic landscape of future of Lebanon. This show has become empty and political, and David’s direction is to blame. I turn to Rational Security for actual contemplative analysis.

    Good some of the time
The podcast can be a little feast or famine. At times it’s very informative, with great guests. They tend to be a bit anti-Israel, so if you like that, you may feel more affinity for the pod. If not, be aware going in.

    Wet Blanket
Riley Fessler kept saying Biden had been a wet blanket & maybe it’s true but Fessler seems to be following those footsteps. Listening to him you’d think the sky is falling & all is bad. He disliked the speeches on the 4th night except the VP’s, etc., etc.. Next time I need to be depressed, I’ll tune back in.

    Stuart Stevens
The show with Stuart Stevens was the most interesting, informative and insightful episode I have ever heard. And the first 16 minutes were anything but boring! That background information by Stevens was fascinating, as was the rest of the show. I listened to it three times.

    Pronounciation
Hello- To the hosts: If it hasn’t been mentioned prior, this is a helpful way to understand how to pronounce VP Harris’s first name: “ , la” “comma la”. Phonetic visuals will often help. (or-uh-gun, neh-VA-duh)

    A longtime listener stepping away
This is my third review of this podcast. I am a big fan of the original podcast, “the mother ship.” It has always been a good place to get insight on world events. But all of the extra podcasts have overtime diluted the quality. Many of the one-on-one interviews have become quite boring. Plus, it has become increasingly depressing to listen to. I am someone who has suffered from mental health issues. The collective despair that the hose and the gas like have events over a likely Trump second term is very difficult for me to listen to day and day out. So many times do I listen to the podcast that I feel a great well of despair. This podcast is very bad for my mental health, especially when Norm Ornstein is on. His commentary always puts me in a bad mental state, a place of deep despair.I hate Trump as much as the next person, but I can’t listen anymore. I really wish the show would’ve stayed in the foreign policy arena. The show was always at its best when Kori Schake, Rosa Brooks, David Sanger, and Ed Luce were opining on the foreign policy matters of the day. I will still listen to the “mother ship,” but I am cutting off all the other episodes.

    15 July 2024 ‘Assassination Horrors’
Just seeing Trumps reaction to the shooting, raising his fist and yelling ‘fight’ was unbelievable. This seemed encouraging to his MAGA followers toward a violent protest/attack. I found it extremely unnerving, a close reactionary response looking an awful like a Hitler salute. Ironically, having the MAGA response blame Biden in itself is unbelievable as the shooter was a Republican himself. Just another excuse toward a violent response against those of us whom embrace civility.

July 3rd Show is Naive Drivel
Normally you seem to understand the seriousness of a potential Trump Presidency but this episode made me crazy because your guest was acting like there would still be norms. The Supreme Court just immunized Trump from legal consequences and he can pardon all of his people. I wanted to throw my phone at the wall! This made me very mad. They will have Trump’s protections. I had to stop listening to the drivel in this episode.

    Alternative to legacy media
For those who want to understand what is actually happening in America. Yes, the frank truth scares me, and I modulate intake so that I can process it emotionally, but knowing/understanding is the critical first step. We must work together to build safety, peace, and stability into our communities.

    Right?
Please stop saying “Right?” Over and over. This is now a national epidemic, as awful as vocal fry. It sounds insecure, needy of reassurance, bush league, and beneath the intelligence of the show.

    Bravo, Noga!
...26:44 April 3, 2024, “I’m curious, from the three of you, what do you wish Joe Biden had done?” Noga Tarnopolsky asked David, Eddie, and Meir Kahane’s own Rosa Brooks regarding U.S. policy in the Land of the Chosen People of the Kahane Master Race. The Pundits’ responses were, at best, mediocre if not downright pathetic. Bravo, Noga! Bravo! Encore! Encore!

    on a downhill slide
This show was good & informative during the Trump administration, but its … editorial position? … has been degenerating into a there-is-no-alternative style celebration of the Dem-side neoliberalism. It feels very out of touch with the lived reality of people who aren't policy insiders, government workers, or procedural wonks. Its guests broaden the politics on display, so it's not exactly an echo chamber, but is very tied to the current moment's overton window of "centrist" liberal vs conservative. Some of the spinoff shows are embarassingly awful in what they're presenting as fact (the spy shows in particular); they all show up on the main feed. A few examples of out-of-touchness from the past few years: - immediately after George Floyd's murder, when there was massive unrest and street violence with the *police attacking the citizenry*, several eps came out in various policy related topics; the George Floyd related events were not even mentioned in passing. - uncritical acceptance & presentation of the sketchy "havana syndrome ray gun" syndrome as being factual. - partisan identification with the Biden administration leading to repeated "how do we educate people that Biden's economy is good" when, in the lived experience of many people, it very obviously is not. - mostly glossing over the indiscriminate destruction of Gaza and slaughter of Palestineans by Netanyahu's IDF, instead sticking to the Biden admin perspective of "how do we help them" / conflating Hamas with the Palestinean population at large. - assuming that "AI" technology (LLM based generative models, particularly as offered for widescale use in 2023) will inevitably grow and be used in more places, such as for autonomous war machines, platforming its boosters and buying into the current tech hype cycle uncritically. There are things related to the show's production that make this worse: - locking themselves behind "The DSR Network", which listeners are expected to join to give any feedback, creates an echo chamber of people who are mostly bought in to their distorted perspective. (When they first announced it, I did not join because I was irritated by the out of touchness; it has gotten a good deal worse since). - they do an annoying "well, that's it! unless you want to join, to hear the rest of the episode" in most eps. Frankly it's better to have some short snippet full-eps-for-members-only previews, and other full eps, than cutting each ep off. I feel like this show could come back, but only David Rothkopf and the DSR Network stakeholders wake up and stick their head out of the echo chamber they're evidently working in. These problems are avoidable and *embarrasing*. Please turn this around!

Where are the smart people at
Reagan Should Not Seek Second Term, Majority Believes know history to know the fact’s. Almost six in 10 Americans feel Ronald Reagan should not run for a second term as president, according to a new Washington Post-ABC News poll. If Reagan were to run again, he would be trailing if the Democratic candidate were Edward Kennedy but leading if it were Walter Mondale, as things now stand. The poll did not ask citizens why they were opposed to Reagan's seeking reelection, but the pattern of responses made it clear that those who have been most dissatisfied with his presidency are the ones who want him to step down in favor of another Republican nominee in 1984. Ninety-five percent of blacks who were interviewed, for example, said Reagan should not run again. Among Democrats, 81 percent said the president should not seek reelection. But opposition also surfaces in segments of the electorate that helped elect Reagan. Independent voters, a key to his victory over Jimmy Carter in 1980, now oppose a second Reagan candidacy by 50 to 42 percent, with 8 percent expressing no opinion. Even one-third of the Republicans interviewed said they are opposed to Reagan's seeking renomination.

She’s absolutely painful to listen to. She’s got so many fragmented thoughts in sentence all running together you lose track of what the subject is. I’m surprise she ever finds her way back and a lot of times she really doesn’t. Trying to catch what she’s talking about is impossible. talk about words salad. Downright irritating.
