The Roman Empire; Introducing Some Key Terms
While this class defines such terms as "imperium" it is no doctionary, but a sampling of Rome's unique culture as reflected in its words (as well as nonverbal symbols such as symbolic figures in a mosaic tile floor). It is enthusiastic and approachable, and wonderful to read. Video segments are in the same spirit, though tablet users may suspect that the pixelated images were intended for a phone. Essay segment content is good, but unlike the main text they don't resize. I can enlarge them, but then I have to wobble them back and forth to read both ends of the lines. Set against these minor imperfections of the medium, this marvelous class is free, and it's really quite good. If you wonder if Rome is interesting at all, this class will convince you that it is.
