denahughesNew FollowerLove this podcast. Eager listener for a couple of months now. I’m in Southeast Texas, so your show has been very informative on the speakers race. Thank you for the news…the full-story thought-provoking version!

John John Smith SmithUnbiased and informative! Finally a political podcast that shares factual news and opinions. Bipartisan and for both sides of the spectrum.

anymom214You’re hard to love, you don’t make it easy.Updated November 2023: I can barely listen anymore. It’s just out-of-touch, liberal, white, male hosts calling out-of-touch, conservative, white, male politicians racist. Sigh. “A republic, if you can keep it,” indeed. Original Review: I listen to this because it focuses on Texas politics and let’s be honest: Texas politics is niche. Texas politics does not draw the country’s top journalists to cover it on a consistent basis, and Scott and Jeremy do a pretty competent job reporting the important stories in an approachable, conversational way. I give them credit for that. My struggle with this program is the smug, under-informed tone of it. It blatantly (almost gleefully) oversimplifies complex debates, conversations, and problems. And coming from a non-partisan standpoint, it feels anti-conservative. That may simply be because Republicans hold the majority in Texas, (so why would you go after Democrats?), but it gives the show a partisan feel that I’d sooner do without. (I prefer “just the facts.”) Also, Jeremy says “ya know” so frequently it’s distracting. I hate to mention that because I’m sure he’s a nice person, but if he’s paid to speak on the radio, you’d think Scott might bother to give a bit of feedback or offer a few hours of coaching on it. Long story short, these old white guys (surprise, surprise) aren’t bad at their jobs and I listen because it’s what’s available. But if there were competition against this podcast, I’d happily let the competition compete for my listen.

fromtexasbygodTypical leftist spinAny illusion I might’ve had about maybe finding a source to hear fair & balanced opinions on Texas politics that might inform my moderate conservative political predisposition was dispelled by the end of my first & last try at this stinker of a podcast. These two liberal hacks are hardwired to regurgitate the typical leftist spin & propaganda i could listen to on many other ridiculously biased radical left podcasts if I wanted hear such garbage.
-
dlandry9Really goodA great breakdown of the Texas legislature when in session and overall Texas politics. If any novice wants to learn about the state's political landscape, this is the starting point. Only issue I have is a clicking sound that takes place when Jeremy Wallace offers insight. Still a good show.
-
another "Graham"Great insightI really look forward to new episodes from Scott and Jeremy. When something happens Texas, I can’t wait to hear their take on it and hear the behind the scenes discussions.
-
Kirby ParkerThe best pod about the Great StateIt is a pleasure to listen to Scott and Jeremy discuss and explain what is going on in Austin. I wish they could take on more than one pod a week. The circus that is currently in town has to many acts to cover in just one show. As a fourth generation Texan, business owner and resident of the hated, communist Harris county, it is required listening. They are also good twitter follows for news and snark about the great state. My only recommendation for the show would be to drop in some banjo or the Benny Hill music when leading into discussion about any topic related to a state wide office holder. Maybe just the banjo, Benny Hill would be to complimentary.
-
shannrc79The best Texas political podcast!I’ve listened to several episodes now after following Scott’s legislative updates on Twitter. Very informative. It’s like listening to your buddies talk about what’s going on in Texas. Love it!

Kmy33True #txlege insiderHey Scott, I don’t listen to anything on Spotify, either. But I do really love Texas Take, and I highly recommend it to anyone who wants insight and good explanation on what’s happening at the #txlege.
-
TheDoodlesBias GarbageDon’t waste your time. All they do is simp for the dems. Might as well just listen to MSM. They provide no insight into actual Texas politics.
-
leslieandelkyStop saying you know, you know?Love the show but the coanchor constantly uses the sentence connector you know. Please stop, you know?

Ashdia1My favorite middle-of-the-road podcastA podcast/news affiliate that says only things with which you agree isn’t a healthy, balanced source of information upon which to base your opinions. What I love about this podcast is that it presents the facts as they happen, in an unbiased manner. Do I always agree with the hosts interpretations? Certainly not. But hearing other viewpoints that make you uncomfortable also serves to improve you by stretching you intellectually, unlike an echo chamber. This podcast does that for me. Additionally, the wealth of knowledge that comes from two individuals who have decades of Texan political knowledge at their disposal is helpful in putting modern events into context for those of us too young to remember the 80s. Texas Take keeps me informed about the going’s-on in Texas politics without an overtly detectable slant. If you’re looking for MSNBC or Fox News, this ain’t it. But if you’re looking for a podcast that delivers “just the facts” so that you can make an informed decision about issues affecting Texans, give this one a try.

edppp9adversarial or partisani appreciate adversarial journalism. they do a decent job at holding state leaders to account. too frequently, however, they cross the line into just repeating democratic party talking points and just sound like the texas version of msnbc.

lizaroo71Texas NewsI started listening a few months ago and I am hooked. I like that these two offer the facts around the issues. They cover a lot in one episode. I learn something each time I listen.
-
lindasusernameFair and factualThis is the only political podcast I listen to regularly. Here's how fair it is: one of the hosts once admitted on Twitter he voted for John Cornyn, and while I wish I didn't know that, I never would have guessed it from his reporting on this show. I think that says a lot.
-
chef gnogGreat podcastI live in New England and know no one in Texas, but I never miss a show. I’m really pleased with how well Scott and Jeremy cover the political scene, and greatly appreciate all the effort that they put into keeping us up to date. Gnognam

-
daigakuseeGreat podcastThis show does a really good job of making political issues easy to understand. Any Texan interested in keeping up with what’s happening in Austin should tune in.
-
jlemonsDon’t miss an episode! This podcast is an excellent, clear headed weekly review of Texas politics done by two experienced and respected journalists. Scott and Jeremy are honest brokers - if they were baseball umpires, you’d admire just how consistent their strike zone is. But they don’t do this at the expense of calling out outrageous, egregious, or even ineffective behavior in the Legislature or Governor’s Mansion. This is pretty bold for political reporters, who have to walk a thin line with the people they cover to ensure that they aren’t denied access. Things move fast during the legislative session, and my only complaint is that it’s a weekly review. But this is my go to podcast for Texas politics, and I get a little excited every time I am notified that a new episode is available.
-
TDTexasUser1234On Fire!In the last couple of episodes you guys have been on fire, especially regarding voter suppression and civil rights. Wow. Learning a lot from these episodes. Keep up the great work!

Mr.SliCCFrom California? You’ll love it.This guy speaks with a rich voice but the words used are very subtly pushing the liberal agenda. Very one sided, but soft, views. Texans from California will love this podcast.
