Mixed Feelings

Every episode, your hosts spoke about their favorite news stories of the week … and probably at least one random current event that has nothing to do with anything. Hosted by Gillian Parker and Quinn Rose.

This podcast got me a girlfriend
I DM'd one of the hosts a few months back. We are now dating. Going great. Highly recommend.

An interesting show, to say the least.
Let me start off by saying I don’t find myself very agreeable with either host on most topics, but they do provide a unique perspective on many issues. The two have chemistry and their banter can be charming, albeit at some points annoying. Soothing voices all around, which act as a nice contrast to the tragic and despicable events that take place in our world. I’d like to see greater research on the topics discussed, especially with regards to geopolitics and terrorism. The lack of historical context I believe takes away from the hosts ability to comment appropriately. A lot of talk in a recent episode had to do with sociology and terrorism, and they seemed not to be able to grasp the causes and effects that have led to the worlds current situations. All in all, I’ll definitely continue listening and hope to see more, and growth, from these two. This isn’t typically what I expect from Relay FM, but it’s a nice addition.

    Fun podcast
Honest opinions about what's going on. I don't agree with them on everything, but I like hearing their takes on things. Keep up the great work!

Mixed Feelings Review 2: Revenge of the Quinn
Dear Podcast Sisters, It's been 6 months since my last review. In that time I have continued to listen to what these two people have to say. I love Quinn's quite frank discussions and options about the Trumpster Fire that is our prez. Gillian herself is an accomplished speaker and has the sass and brass to speak and backup her thoughts as well. From episode 1 and 2 that happened around the election these podcasters shared their feelings with total strangers in the podcast world. That is something to be celebrated and cherished. I bet anyone of their regular listeners could meet them on the Quad and strike up a conversation easily. If you want some episode suggestions listen to episode 1 and 2 together and 8 and 9 together. They make a great two parter even if it's unintentional. I'm a tech nerd and my wife hates sci-fi. But we both have listened to Quinn and Gillian for each episode. Subscribe and you two can share your mixed feelings. Question for Quinn and Jillian. If you could have either $50 Million Dollars (after taxes) in your bank account tomorrow OR live forever and never age. Which would you pick and why?

Two 13 year olds talking politics?
No research, no production value, just pedestrian, ill-informed rants. This was not pleasant. I am used to freakonomics, radio lab, neuropod, sam harris... I have never heard anything like this. These two are driven by their emotions about social justice, they feed on each other's outrage. They opine --with enthusiasm-- the trite and cliche at every turn. They embody the lowest common demoninator. I just cannot endorse this kind of thing. For example, one of them says at one point, "I am afraid of flying on United Airlines because I'm afraid they will beat me". Jesus... I dub thee hence forth, the amygdala sisters. I'm concerned for the people you influence. Since I couldn't listen to all your podcasts, I can't be certain if I disagree with you on all topics, but I heard enough to feel thoroughly disappointed.

    Such a Wonderful Podcast
Gillian and Quill are amazing hosts, and getting to listen to them just be best friends in between discussing the news makes this podcast feel very special. It is a great way to process political and pop culture news during a time when it can feel like its getting overwhelmingly bad. The title is apt: they often stuggle with figuring out what to think or how to feel about current events, and even I find myself disagreeing with them as often as I cheer them on. As a genderqueer person who also identifies as a libertarian, I want to especially thank Gillian for representing socially progressive libertarians, which is a perspective that I wish received the spotlight more often. This leads me to my questions: Gillian, what do you beleive are some problems within the libertarian community that you think we should work to fix? Likewise for Quinn: Within the American left-wing community, was are the important internal problems that should be addressed? (I'd like to know about anything: policies they get wrong or communicate poorly, orthodox beliefs you disagree with, etc.) Thank you, and keep up the great work!

    It's wonderful!

I did not expect this to be a show for me but I was wrong
I really love this show. I am not super interested in current events so I did not expect to be in to it, but like many of the other podcasts I listen to, the reason I really got in to it was for the personalities of the hosts. I really enjoy hearing people my age on a podcast and their opinions. Keep up the great show! Question: If you were going to be stranded on a deserted island, what 5 items would you bring? (Devices that call for help dont count!) Cheers!

Hopeful for a long future of this show
A delightfully fresh and different take on news, politics, and Taylor Swift. It's great to hear fellow young people weighing in on the political and societial issues that will define our future. As a young Libertarian myself, I particularly love Gillian's take aways from her Libertarianism courses, and her explanation of where the philosophy comes from in the context of multiple issues, rather than the usual approach of writing off anyone with that viewpoint off as a borderline anarchist. While I do not agree with every stance of Gillian's and Quinns, I am quite a fan of how clearly and directly they convey their opinions, with a little dash of fun pop culture in every episode as well. A question I have is this: In previous podcasts, you reacted to facebook cracking down on fake news by saying "if only it happened earlier" and other such sentiments. To me that seems like encouraging censorship for the sake of altering the outcome of an election. Not everything is categorically true or false, and censorship of this manner seems arbitrary and dangerous, would you agree? Along the same lines, what are your thoughts on so called "filter bubbles"? That is to say the notion that the algorithms on social media sites generally show you only opinions you share, creating a personalized echo chamber for everyone, and widening cultural divides.

    A breath of fresh air
While I love most Relay FM shows, it's been great listening to one hosted by two people my age (and in my general vicinity). Keep up the good work!

    Funny, Timely, and Important!
These women know what they're doing - this is the only current events podcast that I can listen to without getting angry or stressed.

    So much fun
Amazing podcast. It's great to have hosts who appreciate memes and Taylor Swift as much as they deserve. My only problem is that I don't know how to properly fangirl when they're my age and liking all their tweets would be kinda creepy. Help??

    Best New Podcast of 2016
As a college student who struggles often with how to consume news and politics (especially this fall) this podcast is such a breath of fresh air. Having two thoughtful people who are my age talk about the issues is both informative and enjoyable. Also question: best/worst classes you have taken in college and why?

    Love the Show
Great podcast and very relatable! College freshman! I have 67% confidence that the United States will still exist in four years! Campaign season for the next election starts in 2.5 years! My favorite part was when you told the story of how your life was one 'LOL' What is your favorite Starbucks holiday drink? What do you think of the concept of peak oil? Favorite movie of all time? I can't wait to hear the next episode! @jchowabc (Joshua Chow)

    Not very mixed feelings...
They hate Trump; they love Taylor Swift and Kim Kardashian. Five stars.

A great way to consume political news
Mixed feelings is a great podcast which talks about political and cultural events. The two hosts sound like they are genuinely enjoying themselves throughout the show and deliver the information in a way that tries to understand all sides of the event and then give you their opinion without pushing their personal beliefs on you, which is hard to find in the current clown fiesta that is the is 2016 election cycle. The show is a fantastical way to consume this type of media and have a few laughs at the same time and i look forward to hearing more in the future!

    Awesome!
A great source of digestible information regarding current events which are becoming evermore complicated. Personalities that convey a non-pretentious view of the happenings of the day but not without quick wit and a little anecdotal analysis.

Great so far, can't wait for more
An interesting and fun show run by two young hosts, talking about news/pop culture/etc. I enjoy hearing their perspectives; aren't too many college-aged podcast hosts out there, especially not with the personality of these two! As a college student myself, I think Mixed Feelings is pretty cool. Can't wait to see how the show develops and progresses!
