cover the earsGreatJust came across this podcast in the past year. Really wish I’d known about it sooner. Intelligent and not overly political or dogmatic while covering topics not found elsewhere.
-
Silian RailLiberal TearsThe host can’t stop crying about libs losing the election and being exposed as unintelligent frauds.

mickbarn50I never knew how much I didn’t knowWant to know more about economics? This is the place: Outstanding guests with David as an astute and knowledgeable interviewer. I look forward to every episode.

HDieterDMM is greatThis podcast is usually very topical and extremely engaging for anyone interested in macroeconomics and public policy issues. It would be nice if there were the occasional deeper dives or explanations, theories, or applications discussed for the benefit of the non academics in the audience - but that belies the trade-offs governing the shows market 🙂. IlVisconteDimezzatoHands down best podcastThis podcast is fantastic. It is consistently interesting, informative, and intellectually engaging. Amazing and thoughtful guests and helpful links provided with each episode. If you are just curious about monetary policy or a dedicated macro economist, this is the best way to spend one hour each week. Your brain will thank you for it.

Ayowol3Great Pod!!Very neat Dr. Beckworth!
-
sm05!Well done - how to apply economic thinking and keep up to speed in new ideasGreat interviews, David Beckworth is a pro, and you can really see he knows his stuff, yet ask questions that speak to an audience from Economists to business owners to investors and folks that want to be up on economic thinking. Be awesome to see an “after-show” recap of some really big ideas, some additional facts and maybe even an application to a current event if that wasn’t already made during the show (which it usually is). This is the sort of podcast that’s making me smarter. Awesome recording quality as well. Well done!

samshshsGood stuffGreat show. I enjoy the host’s demeanor and the show’s topics. Sometimes I wish they explained the concepts more but I appreciate that it’s a show for experts.
-

JMontes1969Worth your timeGive this podcast a listen! You don’t have to be a trained economist to learn something new and enjoy doing it. Dr Beckworth is an great host with a sense of humor and a humble approach.
-
WillbillbnaSuperb! This show covers a wide range of economic thought from a diversity of perspective. A wonderful resource for anyone learning or teaching economics and a great way to stay close to the currents of political economy.
-
MasterKanobiLet’s keep political views outThis lady obviously has a political agenda, and it just happens to be to the far left, the views should be balanced, not everyone opposed to destruction of their neighborhoods is a wealthy land owner! Utterly ridiculous!

Nlaz3I love this podcastI’ve been listening since the earliest days, in 2016, and it has been incredibly helpful in nurturing my interest in economics as I finished undergrad and got into the field. The guests have spanned a wide variety of fields in economics, and David asks pointed and interesting questions of all of them. Though he often plays the role of detached interviewer, he’s a capable research economist in his own right and that knowledge comes through. I have on many occasions referred back to an old episode for a reference. I find I learn as much from these discussions as I would in the same amount of time spent reading academic papers, sometimes more because of the clear explanations offered. The podcast format allows me to learn while driving, biking, doing chores, etc. This is a public good, and I’m proud to have donated to the Mercatus Center to help provision it. (Also I wanted the NGDP target mug, but one can have multiple motivations for donating.)

JRL TennesseeAdam Posen InterviewYou cannot let a great guest go to waste because of crap sound… Please do not allow a guest to speak at the computer. Mic them up correctly or wait till you can. For this interview he sounds likes he’s in a small, enclosed room and the sound is reverberating off the walls…Otherwise I very much love your show…

Avishs01Great breadth and depth on key macro topicsA little something for everyone interested in macro. David keeps it fresh, and I like that he also hits on market-facing topics frequently rather than just a more purely theoretical discussion.
-
lucremanJust really goodentertaining and informative, plain and simple. a grasp of monetary policy that’s better than what you can find in almost any financial journalist and a curiosity about economics that’s greater than what you find in many academics!
-
pmmcmuVery informative and thoughtful discussion.Very good podcast. A detailed thoughtful discussion.
-
@AtahualpaGreat Listen ButThis is a great listen and informative as to the mainstream view. I think it could be improved if David would raise some of the rising popular criticisms of those views and tools with respect to a) lack of transparency, b) aggravating the wealth gap, d) credibility of and challenges to the dollar, e) competing systems. All of that with a reference to great events and disturbances in history. Again, I love it, but find it a bit too deferential to central bank dogma.

Learner987654321Thoughtful and insightfulDavid Beckworth, the host of Macro Musings, is a terrific interviewer. He has a very diverse set of guests on the show, treats them with respect, and asks good questions. I’ve learned a lot from listening!

Jske47IrishMacro Musings - Not For the GeneralistYou probably need some basic background in economics to get the most out of these podcasts. A Money, Credit and Banking course would be ideal. A lot of the podcasts revolve around Fed monetary policy. But with a little reading and background prep, you can really get a lot out of David Beckworth’s discussions with leading economists in academia, government and the private sector. Well worth your time to listen to these podcasts — at least if you care about the economics issues of the day — and historically.
-
Noriaki2013Latest episodeThe latest episode with Tom Hoenig was wrongly released on Conversation with Tyler. which helped me find the show!

XmasBaby777Exactly what we should all be listening to…The BIG picture of helpful and thoughtful insights into what’s going on now, what’s ahead, and how to think about the economic implications of our world changed by COVID.

Ben3713Thank you for reminding me of my love for EconomicsIn college I double majored and Economics I studied because I enjoyed it. Performing research with my professors are my favorite memories from that time period. Since then I had forgotten how much I enjoy learning about Economics and listening to this learning thinkers of this community. I’m truly thankful for reminding me how much I enjoy this field. I was on the edge but, this podcast was helped me decide to go back to school for my Doctorate in Economics.

Nbtgm1Well worth the timeI discovered this blog recently on advice by a friend. The guests are generally very good and engage in good conversations with the host. As a former central banker, I find this blog really a gem, both on central banking issues and on macro in general. Highly recommended!

philosopher_kingFascinating Relevant Economic PodcastThis is hands down one of the most amazing podcasts ever. It’s topical, features top notch economists and is conducted in a way that is so pleasing to listen to that all you need to do is grab a glass of what-have-you sit back and be immersed in easily understandable economic insight from some of the best professionals and academics in the field. Mace Musings makes Economics a true pleasure to learn about while covering the most current and engaging topics. If you are new to the podcast, look for a title with a topic that strikes your interest and prepare to be hooked!
-
Scott.RichardsFascinating conversations, insightful & entertainingDavid Beckworth is a brilliant, highly engaging host that never fails to deliver a conversation that is accessible, informative, and highly entertaining. While many macroeconomists view their trade as a solemn branch of applied math, David reminds us how economic thinking can elucidate the world around us. Excellent work and many thanks for the tremendous effort - you've made us better thinkers and inspired us to engage with new ideas!
-
JMatt271828Great economics podcastThis is a great podcast that anyone even remotely interested in macroeconomics should listen to.
-
Econ StrategiesThe Real DealNot glitzy, and certainly not dumbed down, this podcast is for those like to think great thoughts about macro economics. The guests are leaders in their fields. The questions are thoughtful, relevent, and provocative. You know that David Beckworth does his homework ahead of time. Also the accoustics are usually very good, with host and guest clear and at the same volume.

Elliott2485My favorite econ podcastThough David Beckworth is an expert in his own right on monetary policy and can speak knowledgeably about economics in general, he lets his guests do the talkingand never interrupts. He uses his economic insight to ask great questions that move the discussion down interesting paths. As is often said, you have to be fairly knowledgeable yourself to know which questions are the right ones. One thing he does that I deeply appreciate is that after his guest has spoken at length and in detail about a subject, he will often rephrase and consolidate what was just said in a way that is conscious of the laypeople in his audience. He gets some of the best guests of any economics podcasts around, whether they are established Nobel-winning heavyweights or up and coming young economists. It's one of the best econ podcasts around, and great for any econ nerds who want to hear deep dives into policy and theory.
-
J StogeyGreat Weekly Subjects!A great weekly podcast and very much geared towards today’s economic events!
-
yakkyyakKeep up with the latest in academic economics!Always great guests and fascinating discussions on topics across economics. A great way to keep up with new ideas and research!
-
rongardenhiresbrainA must for Econ junkiesMacro musings is reliably topical and always interesting. David Beckworth manages to feature most of the leading Economics minds while having an uncanny way of asking the exact questions that I want answered. If you can get past the blatant nominal gdp targeting propaganda it is a fantastic way to spend an hour exercising your mind.
-
Greg A 2018Best economics podcast out thereA gem of a podcast. Dr. Beckworth gets highly esteemed guests from academia, industry, and the fed. They talk about the economy and really distill complicated and interesting ideas into manageable bites. This podcast makes the subject of economics addicting!
-
Expat^2Incredible resourceMaybe one of the best podcasts, and the best podcast on economics without a doubt.
-
KoreanJohnAwesome podcast for those who are studying econHi, currently I am preparing a test to get in this trade agency here in South Korea and actually this podcast is really helpful for me to gain all these quaility information. The only thing that’s hilarious about this podcast is that the host is one of the most laid-back hosts ever seen given that guests talk during most of the podcast running time haha
-

enronalEssential listeningMacromusings is essential listening for anyone interested in developments in macroeconomics, including professional economists. Beckworth and guests delve into key questions and controvversies of macroeconomics, but with a light touch and good humor on Beckworth's part that makes it always enjoyable as well as informative. Great economics podcast.
-
YobolightBest podcast on macroeconomicsEconomics podcasts are a dime a dozen these days, but none delve into weedsy topics like the global safe-asset shortage or nominal GDP targetting in the way that this one does. I can't reccomend it enough.
-
jclerchHelpful for teaching AP EconThis podcast has helped me supplement my teaching many times with real, relevant discussions involving today's economic leaders. Thank you!
-
Kmat922Best Econ podcast out thereMostly covers macro economics. He brings all sorts of guest with a great variety of viewpoints so this will be sure to challenge any priors you hold. Already, I can say this podcast has made me question and change my mind on a number of things.
-
K@te7856Non-partisan calm discussions about key economic issuesMy favorite part about macro musings is David’s ability to have guests on from a variety of professional and academic backgrounds. Each guest brings a set of unique credentials and experiences. In today’s media landscape of hyperbole around economic news and events, it is great to have a podcast explore important topics with a nuanced and balanced view.
-
RY98Great InsightA delightful listen.
-
D BunnIn depth, educational discussionsThe variety of macro topics covered by this podcast make it a must-listen for folks who want to stay current on recent and developing my macroeconomic policy debates.
-
philipaugustusWide-ranging, genius host, not right-wingThis is probably my favorite economics podcast (in a race with FT's Alphachat and KPFA's Behind the News) and it is getting even better, very fast. Emphasizes monetary policy and the great recession. Favorite episodes: #86 - William Barnett (new angle on the Volcker disinflation) #58 - David Schleicher (hipster deregulation) #40 - Anat Admati (bank leverage buzzkill) #32 - Roger Farmer (the weirdest Keynesian) Now I know what my fellow liberals are thinking: Really? A podcast from the Koch-backed Mercatus Center? Why are you wasting your time with this? Well that's what I was thinking but I WAS WRONG.
