ArlieLPEncouraging and engaging! It’s so easy to be nihilistic when it comes to discussing climate change - sometimes, it seems like we have insurmountable problems to overcome. But this podcast offers a refreshing and timely look at how we can realistically adapt to our circumstances. Thankful for Doug’s work here!

L0ughlinGreat guests, poor presentationMy biggest complaint is that the conversation flows really unnaturally. The guests are fantastic and I love the range the podcast covers, I really just wish it felt more like conversations with professionals instead of interrogations.

J. BarshopValuable and TimelyI appreciate the variety of episodes, the super practical takeaways and sincerity that Doug pours into every guest - I can literally feel his sincerity in everything he says, and can tell the guests he brings on are people he’s genuinely excited to share with his listeners. There is truly an episode that will benefit everyone.

Dissappointed AthleteBig egoI usually enjoy the interviews and the people he brings on, but he spends a lot of time promoting himself or having his guests talk about when and how often they listen to his show. Comes across as self indulgent and obnoxious

Brian EttlaingWonderful podcast focused on climate adaptation!I have been listening podcast for months now. I find it to be very informative promoting the conversation how we should prepare to adapt to climate change with the interviews with top climate policy adaptation experts, climate advocates, etc. Host Doug Parsons does a great job!

Dee CarboneReally dumbWow the stupidity of some people still amazes me. Anyone else notice the record breaking cold temperatures the past two winters? Look to the sun you idiot lemmings. They want to tax your breath, and place a meter on everything you can think of. You morons are talking yourselves into voting away your freedom. Nice work dicks

lmv000Climate-niche and relevant! It is such a pleasure to learn more from Doug’s guests about their work in adaptation. If you work in climate adaptation, resilience, planning, this podcast is for you!

ccshatzMore detail, less generality pleaseI usually learn more from this podcast but episode on extreme heat was heavy on superficial remarks and devoid of data, stats and specifics. More rigor please. This is serious.

H2O_DocExcellentDoug does an excellent job ensuring his guests bring useful information to the discussion on adaptation and related climate issues.

Russia is greatAdaptation risesRare science podcast that’s both educational and entertaining. The host is doing a great job elevating the adaptation space. Highly recommend.

BrassmooseGreat guests, grating host5-star guests. Single-star host. It’s a testament to the guests’ intelligence, professionalism, and generosity that they suffer their insufferably smug and condescending host Doug Parsons. See for recent example the 2019 year in review episode (101) in which Parsons holds forth on his painfully masculinist bias to three brilliant women on the irrelevance of topics he considers beneath him. Worth it for his guests’ gentle schooling of his empathy-deficient and indefensible position. Listening to Parsons begrudgingly admit the relevance of topics and subjects relating to climate adaptation championed by women and minorities is almost too much to take.

jspinelleCrucial, relevant, realistic take on climate issuesSo many podcasts in this space are “pie in the sky.” Doug and his guests are grounded in reality and driven by facts, both of which I appreciate very much.

Eric RiddleCrucial Conversations on ClimateAmerica Adapts and Cultivating Place are my favorite podcasts for 2019. Host does an excellent job of not making this topic a partisan issue. He interviews people already engaged in careers in adaptation to climate change. I really appreciate the diverse voices in the interviews. Important to note that nature is not static and reality is a constant adaptation to our ecosystems.

RefryGreat podcast!Somehow stumbled onto this podcast and heard speakers from the eco-right 9/4/19 episode. As a disillusioned Republican I was relieved to hear some ideas that made sense to me.
-
JFelzzGreat interviewerI am impressed by the honesty and genuine curiosity with which Doug approaches each interview. The episodes about the LGBTQ community and tribal communities were particularly eye opening. Doug manages to be totally respectful while still asking meaningful questions that get to the heart of the matter.

CurtlezumiGreat place to learn about adaptation options. This is a great podcast to better understand what adapting to climate change may look like. It’s fact driven and a great source of up to date information on this climate topic.
-
MDbirder3100Perfect way to learn about the effects of climate changeGreat podcast with thorough information. Would highly recommend. My only complaint is that the host tends to talk for a long time during his introductions. Would appreciate it if he tried to speed up a little.

Keso SokeThis podcast is going to blow upClimate science is a hot topic in geo-science today. I can definitively say that Doug serves the topic well. He bring guests and questions that are well thought out.

Charlie SCA different perspectiveI follow several climate and science podcasts, and this one always gives a unique and challenging perspective.

EnviroEGInsightful and captivating disucssions about climate changeAmerica Adapts is an exceptional podcast that unpacks the complexities of climate change and how people are responding to that change. I enjoy learning about how communities across America are responding to the impacts of climate change.

Am IllI think it'll get betterI know I'm in the minority here and I've tried about 3 different episodes but it's just hard to get into it. His podcasts are long so he takes a long time to get to the meat of what you want to hear. I don't often have an hour plus to digest what he wants to get to. His skills as a host are improving and there are times he asks the odd question which the guest doesn't get (neither do I and to his credit he owns it). I hope it will get better and will try to give it some more attention.

kylejohnson_EITExcellent resource; now a non-profit!As someone who is an information sponge and always on the lookout for opportunities to further engage on climate adaptation, I must say the America Adapts podcast is among the best climate adaptation resources out there – and comes in a welcome format that I can listen to at any time (in the car, at home, on the commute, even during a slow day at work). Just as Dr. Jesse Keenan remarks in one of the episodes, America Adapts provide some great educational content in a way that doesn’t feel like a lecture. It also doesn’t hurt that you can listen at 1.5x speed and hit the 15-second rewind at any given time (where was that in school?)… While I love EcoAdapt’s CAKE database and the Georgetown Climate Center’s Adaptation Clearinghouse, I know personally that one can certainly exhaust themselves with too much reading material, so it’s nice to have something just as technical that is easy listening. It also fills a void in the podcast realm, where other standout climate podcasts typically focus on mitigation and daily news stories, rather than the consistent day-in-day-out grind of adaptation. As a young professional trying to break into the field of climate adaptation, I particularly appreciate that the host speaks to some of the challenges for youth in breaking into a newly formalized profession (although adaptation itself is nothing new) and that America Adapts continues to book guests that expand the range of topics considered. Looking forward to seeing where America Adapts goes as a non-profit, it is definitely well deserved recognition and opportunity.

LaTina8888888Informative and engaging! An really worthwhile listen.Doug's energy and passion for spreading knowledge of adaptation in the face of climate change fuels this informative podcast, in which he brings very knowledgeable and notable figures in the climate change & adaptation community. They share about what important work they're doing and how it impacts all of us. I learn something new every episode, and the guests he brings on are just awesome people! Totally worth a listen, and absolutely worth sharing.

climatecuriousCalling all the climate curious! If you consider yourself an environmentalist, this podcast is 100% for you. That goes for all types of environmentalists - activists and politicians, teachers and students, scientists and science-interested. Why? I'll give you two reasons. 1. The host Doug talks in approachable terms (great for non-expert theatre majors like myself) 2. He invites guests whose perspectives/experiences with climate change adaption are across the map - SO there's something new to learn in each episode. (That keeps it interesting and informative for EVERYONE, including experts/professionals like my boss.) Basically, whoever you are, you can learn something new from this podcast!!
-
scnbathInsightful and AccessibleAs a young member of the adaptation community, I wholeheartedly endorse this podcast. The conversations are insightful for those familiar with adaptation while being accessible to everyone else. Are you at all interested in climate change? Perhaps all you've heard is doom and gloom or tech speak about emissions reductions targets and 2050 this and 2100 that? Let Doug introduce you to the great work being done right here and now to address climate impacts.

Julesverne386Informatively awesomeJust started listening to this (might I recommend listening on 1.5 speed, it really helps absorb the information!). Loved the three most recent guests, the conversations we're honest and hopeful. Can't wait to listen to previous episodes!!!!

ScienceFanEGFun & informative! As a mom and a professional with little time to spare, it is really hard to keep up with all the latest science across all of the subjects I want to follow. I love how Doug's interviews cover solid science about climate change and adaption but are also entertaining to listen to. Instead of putting on something from Netflix, I can catch up on the latest science during downtime with my husband, after dinner, after a busy day, when we want to listen or watch something fun.

Adapt123Smart podcastGreat guests. Smart conversations. Very positive message for sobering topic.
-
Dan SiskenHighly recommendedI just discovered and started listening to this outstanding podcast. Smart, interesting guests, conversing about climate change issues in a way that is accessible to scientists and non-scientists alike.
-
Trauma Like RainA Necessary ConversationWhat I love about this podcast is the level of conversation Doug attains in his interviews. He rises above the normal timbre of climate change dialogue to discuss adaptation strategy, and he does it without muddying the topical landscape with cries of fear, woe, or other negativity.

L-MCGood for the layperson without being dumbed downOne of the very few podcasts I've actually subscribed to. Good stuff.

T06301115Interesting for non scientistsDoug is excellent host. Makes abstract issue relevant.

DkantdanceAn underreported but important topicThis podcast is doing the highly important work of covering an underreported but seriously important topic: adaptation to climate change. As the scientific community has made abundantly clear for several decades, climate change is actually occurring, so it's necessary to understand not only what it looks like, but just as important: how the different levels of government and non-governmental organizations are taking on this crucial task. The host does an excellent job of keeping the discussisions interesting and entertaining. Highly recommended.

LlamaMadGood discussion re climate change terminologyI really liked the way the ASAP rep contrasted mitigation, adaptation and resilience. She clarified a lot for me. And Doug did a good job leading her there. I learned a lot.
