One of the best in the biz
Phil is a fantastic beat writer and excels at covering and speaking about the team. Very engaging host and one of the most knowledgeable Patriots guys out there. Must listen every week. Also knows a lot about the league in general. The king!

Hey Phil - I love your work. I was in the school of thought of Tom Curran that I didn’t care about college players until they started to work for the Patriots however, it is a combination of your due diligence and the Patriots going from Super Bowls to toilet bowls that this has become must listening. My suggestion for a future pod is instead of prototypical patriots when we look at prototypical ‘Marrone’ offensive lineman. He has a significant body of work in the NFL and we can look at his past drafts for OL to determine his skill at identifying offensive lineman. Keep up the good work.

Phil is a must listen for Patriots and NFL draft fans. He does his homework and gives you all potential prospects and scenarios. Phil is a must listen for the next few months leading to the draft.

    Question
How likely is it that as a Pats fan from the late 80s (the first NFL game I remember watching was the ‘85 Super Bowl, and being the only one in my house up in Saco, ME rooting for the Pats) to see my dream off season shape up? The Pats sign Stanley and Alaric Jackson, sign Josh Sweat and Milton Williams, and trade out of four down to one of the QB needy teams and take Luther Durden in the first

    Long time first time
Love the show and listen every week. Phil, is it possible that the recent Patriots draft/sign good WRs and somehow make them all worse? (With the weird exception of Jakobi Meyers.) -Matthew in Philly, grew up in Norwood MA

I love the Patriots turn of events — just when you thought Bill was gone, we get the rebirth. Vrabel is the essentially the same football guy, just not as grumpy and disdainful toward the press. Also really glad that Vrabel is signaling a focus on winning his “balanced” and “efficient” way — not trying to simply entertain the “throw it all over the yard” quant crowd. If I can’t have Bill, I’ll take the next best thing — someone who sees football and leadership the same way ;-) If this outcome doesn’t warm your heart, go report on one of the tight-pantsed coaches who continue not to win anything meaningful (i.e., 1 SB for just about 10 yrs of hype)… Welcome back Bill 2.0… PS: Now we need to have Eliot exited — no way he continues duck his portion of the responsibility for 5yrs drafting and personnel failure. He is the cockroach of personnel people — simply a mediocre or worse survivor…

    Awesome podcast
Amidst a bad season this podcast keeps an eye on positive story lines for the future and not current season negativity. It’s much appreciated.

Best Patriots pod in the business
Phil is always spot on. Must listen every single time!

    Maye
If the Pats coaches think Maye isn’t ready by game 1, why not put him on the 53 man roster then move him to the IR? The Foxboro flu buys them more time to develop Maye and takes away the fan and media pressure to play him.

    Solid
I will say more is less sometimes. I understand why shows would bank content from radio row, combine etc and post it 3-6 weeks later — but it comes off as stale and like you’re just filling a show because you have to. This show is best when it’s fresh.

Great podcast, questions need more focus
I always enjoy listening. I have two recommendations: for Phil to make his questions shorter and more focused. The windup is waaay too long. Secondly, and I know this is difficult, to challenge the interviewee with tougher questions so it's less of a lovefest. Thanks for listening and keep up the great work!

    Great Pod
Phil - love the pod, especially because you always get really good guests that provide unique prospectives. You are also great at conducting organized, well thought interviews. One point of feedback would be regarding the “Pats need more explosive players at all cost” take. I agreed with that take 2 years ago but the roster has changed since then and it’s a stale take. It’s no secret that every NFL team would benefit from more explosive players, but it’s not like there is a surplus of them out there. How about discussing more about how the Pats can better use the explosive players they already have? That is a much more interesting and relevant thing to discuss.

    Always a must listen
Can no longer listen to local radio analysis and commentary - 98.5 and 93.7 will straight up ruin my mood and waste my time. You never get that with the Senator - always credible, grounded and on point!

    Great show, practice squad questions
Thanks Phil - great show. Live in Charlotte, NC now but will always love the Pats! Can you explain how the practice squad works? Specifically, What does it mean when someone has “practice squad eligibility”? Can teams protect draft picks on their practice squad or can they only be placed there after they clear waivers for the whole league? Is there a limit for how long a player can spend on the PS? Always look forward to this pod - thanks!

Love the show Phil Great content Stuff we don’t hear any other place Question…..where might the Patriots find a late cut offensive tackle currently on another roster? Bengals? Eagles? 49ers?

    Great Pod
Phil’s stuff is outstanding. (And I would’ve sent this review in ages ago but I couldn’t figure out how to review a podcast!)
  • tyl3r130
    Love the pod!!
We keep talking about how great our defense can be, but I’m worried about how it stacks up against other defenses in our division. I’m extremely exited for this defenses potential but there’s an argument to be made for us having the worst offense AND defense in the east.
  • jdunphy68
    Great show
Still my favorite Patriots podcast as Phil digs deep to get true and thoughtful feedback on the newest additions to the roster which gets me fired up for the season. So a prediction and a question. The prediction is that we are going to look back in a few years and identify this current draft class as the most influential foundation building draft since before the early 2010’s when the second dynasty was built. Then just a random question….with the Pats likely having a new kicker and definitely a new punter has there been any discussion on how the new scoreboard and end zone closure will positively or negatively effect the kicking game in 2023. Keep up the great work Phil

    Gonzalez v. Gardner
Hey Phil. After hearing so much about Christian Gonzalez possibly lacking competitiveness physically and mentally, and that likely being the reason he dropped from projected top 10 all the way to 18, it got me wondering what was being before the 2022 Draft about Sauce Gardner’s competitiveness? How do you believe they compared as prospects overalls coming out of college? Thanks.

Hey Phil, Appreciate all that you do. Any theories on why we haven’t seen Juju yet? My conspiracy theory is that Bill doesn’t want anyone to see how he’s being used. Thanks man.

    Great Podcast
Love the podcast Phil I’ve been listening for years. . I learn a lot about football and how the Patriots operate by listening. In the hot take era, your analysis is measured and based in facts not narratives. Not sure if you were on the BC High teams that played Rutland(VT) High but that’s my high school. John Carpenter

    Question belichick the GM
Is a good way to evaluate belichick as a GM by who he did and did not draft from the east-west shrine game. Belichick and his staff were there and had the upper hand compared to other teams to evaluate these players. Who did they draft from this game/week and what other players at position of needs went around the draft pick the patriots could of drafted them. I think seeing where these player end up in a couple years would help grade belichick the drafter/evaluator. You did a lot of great work for the podcast during those week so I think this would be a great way to cap it off. Alway enjoy the podcast. Side note a perry barth podcast would be a must listen.
  • mek1954
    Always Enjoy Phil’s podcasts.
Phil keeps pushing the offense. We focused on offense in free agency and defense in the top selections in the draft. When discussing running backs in the latest you left out Robinson who is a good running with a 1000+ rushing season.

    Decent Pats coverage
I don’t agree with all of your takes. Nonetheless, overall I think this is a decent Patriots podcast.
  • mmmfruitypebbles
Can the Pats develop outside receivers?
Phil - Still loving the pod. You’ve mentioned the Pats potentially taking Quentin Johnston at pick #14, but even if you like his talent over the Offensive Tackle class, do you trust the Patriots to be able to develop any outside receiver? Have they successfully done that with anyone from the recent drafts? If don’t trust it. For my money, draft a tackle, acquire a wide out somewhere else. What do you think?
