    Great Podcast
These guys are great. I’m not a scientist or a humanities guy but I enjoy them a lot. Their friendship shines through and makes me wish for friends as close as they are to each other.

    Just great
I have Destin’s YouTube channel for years and recently started listening to this podcast. I really like it. They are both really intelligent AND thoughtful—a seemingly obvious but actually rare combination lol. Even when they’re being “dumb” or silly, they don’t go low for the lols. It’s always positive, respectful, and interesting. Their passions shine through and it’s awesome. Thanks guys.

This is not Matt’s mom, this is just a fan of the show.
Fun conversations that leave you laughing and reflecting. I have been enjoying the third seat. In this chapter of my life, Matt and Destin were hussars in providing a medium of learning, laughing, religious discussions, parenting moments and entering the deep water on all sorts of topics. Thanks for allowing us listeners to be a part of the conversation! I am always excited for the next episode!

    Fun and Goodness
Appreciate so much about this podcast. Give a few episodes a try and you probably will too. Love the fun and interesting jaunts that meander into side paths with more depth. One of the few podcasts I cant wait to listen, hearing a type of friendship I hope grows in my life.

    Longtime listener
I’ve been listening to this podcast on and off since I was 13 years old. I’m now 20, and I’ve loved the podcast through all those years. Y’all’s conversations are thought provoking and fun. There are very few internet things that have made me laugh as hard as some of your episode’s have. I hope you all continue on with this podcast for many more years, because I always look forward to every episode!

    When you need vicarious friendship
I write this after a fun week-long depressive episode where I felt capable of little else than sitting under a weighted blanket playing Diablo 3 with NDQ on my earbuds. I've gone through roughly 3/4ths of the backlog, and being The Third Chair(tm) for hours upon hours with Matt and Destin has made me...well, a few things: 1. Jealous. I grew up watching Scrubs and Psych, wishing to have a best friend relationship like theirs. Just when I chalk it up to Hollywood magic, these two dinguses come along and prove that it's entirely possible. 2. Laugh. The exchanges and banter have made me wheeze many times, to the point where my kids are asking me what's so funny, but I can't quite explain the nuance of a potty joke stemming from a deep, thought-provoking conversation. 3. Thoughtful. Whatever they find themselves talking about out, Matt and Destin can pull connections to life, fatherhood, and faith without feeling hackneyed or cheap. Their particular backgrounds bring a different facet to the conversation, and there is genuinely life-changing material hidden in the tomes of fart jokes and folk soda sampling. At a time when I needed a simulacrum of human interaction because I didn't have the mental energy for meatspace, this podcast provided both a way to work through it constructively and thoughts to take with me when I stepped out of the valley. Thanks, guys. A circle of friends
Great guys, great podcast. Has me thinking hard then almost busting my side laughing the next. Worth a listen if you don’t mind the dad humor (honestly half the reason I’m here) and you might just learn something. Informative and edifying so yeah, happy to be here. :)

    There are no dumb questions
I have been a fan of Matt and Destin before they had the podcast and I love the stupidity fun tangents, jokes, and atmosphere this podcast is amazing if you want a laugh while they (sometimes) talk about important life stuff I would highly recommend if you want more fun content from two upstanding people please check out their YouTube channels smarter every day and the ten minute bible hour

    Excellent Exploration Podcast
This podcast doesn’t have a single topic other than whatever interests the hosts. That said, they are extremely interesting to listen to. One of my very top podcasts! I have been listening to the back log so far, but hope to be back in real time soon. You won’t be disappointed by the thought provoking, funny, and sometimes heart wrenching conversations these guys have. I’m loving the podcast!

    Thankyou
I’ve only made it through 8 episodes so far but this has quickly become my favorite podcast. I really appreciate the two differing views and the discussion following the disagreements. I believe this is what we need in our lives today to demonstrate how to properly disagree but still have respect for someone. Also the humor is great!

    Red Herring Correction
Love the podcast! I’m a seminary student and philosophy undergrad. As a correction, a "Red Herring" is called so because the term originates from a method used in training dogs to follow scents. A smoked or salted herring fish, which turns reddish-brown when cured, was used to train dogs to track scents. Sometimes, to throw off the dogs during training, trainers would drag the fish across the trail or use it to mislead the dogs. Hence, the term "Red Herring" came to signify something that misleads or distracts from the main point, just as the fish was used to distract the dogs from their main scent trail. The prominent philosopher William Lane Craig has referenced this origin in some of his debates.

    Laughing at myself
See me in both of you. Love your honesty. I need this podcast! Really I am 67 & listening as I do my miles I do laugh out loud (and get some looks). This is an excellent podcast!

    The best podcast ever
I’ve been listening since the intro episode dropped and I love these guys. I watch both of their YouTube channels, so when I found out that they were making a podcast together my brain melted. Each episode is amazing, the humor is top notch, and the content is challenging. I want to be a better thinker and doer, husband, friend, and Christian from listening to these guys. I have to remind myself that I’m not actually their friend and just a listening because their conversations are so engaging. Why is this podcast only 4.9 stars and not 5?
  • Brent4Christ
This should be the number one podcast on the internet
I have been listening to NDQ since 2019. It is my absolute favorite podcast. I am one of the Winged Hussars (that’ll make sense if you listen to the podcast). Matt and Destin are the kind of teachers I wish I had growing up. They’re just as fun as they are educational. They have made me realize I care about topics I never would have been interested in before. Matt and Destin, if you guys actually read these, thanks for all that you do.

    New Favorite Podcast
Two genuinely kind and intelligent guys. This is exactly the type of podcast that I’ve been looking for for so long. Definitely give it a shot.

    Love this show!!
This review is specifically written about the Weak People Make Hard Times episode, but I absolutely love this whole podcast! To Matt concerning your bit around having been libertarian. I just have to say I totally agree with you on all points. Someone needs to grab the pendulum and slow it down. I’m an 18 year old senior in high school right now and am trying to figure out how to vote and how I can interact with people who are not aware of their own depravity and biases (not that I always do lol). It truly gives me hope for the future knowing that there are intelligent people out there who agree with me. Lastly, I must say that you articulated your position in a way that proved (in my view at least) that you have truly put an immense amount of thought into them. Love the podcast and both of you guys!

    An eye opening podcast.
Destin and Matt do a great job opening up the mind of the third chair. Wether it is an episode about playing catch, history, religious texts, or war, NDQ always leaves me thinking deeper and looking inward. I recommend this to every person I know who listens to podcasts. Matt and Destin, I am a cybersec undergrad and an IT professional and would love to hear you two discuss APTs and Cyber warfare. Thank you both.

    Tennis Match
Matt and Destin let us into their friendship to see how fun life can be. They mix lightheartedness with serious content that leaves me challenged to think deeper or sometimes just to laugh more. Their conversations are a fun volley of ideas. Thanks for sharing a window into your lives!!

Shout Out to the Time Travelers
Hey Matt and Destin, did you know that we are paying four times as much for meat right now? I had absolutely no idea! Figured I’d let you know, since time travelers ravaged your podcast.

    True GENUINE friends
I covet deeply after friendship like this, these two men are incredible friends, men who love each other profoundly, support each other eagerly, and sharpen each other zealously. It is refreshing and lovely and a wonderful analog for Christ. Matt, my favorite thing that you say fairly often is “stuff means stuff”. How do you communicate that with young students? I teach high school theatre, and it’s one thing to get them to understand that a human turning into a tree when they died represents escape from bondage. That’s easy symbolism and heavy handed analogy, but quite another to convince them that the things they say and do every day has weight and significance. Put that in your pipe and smoke it!

Always makes me smile and laugh
I love this podcast on a long drive or long day of working in my garden —- Matt and Dustin get along so well and challenge each other and ask wonderful (never dumb) questions!! After each episode I feel like I watched a great movie, plus attended a Ted talk and laughed along the way. Thank you guys!
  • ArcFlash9986
    Thoughtful and funny
Destin and Matt are just genuinely likable and funny guys, who have great chemistry together which leads to very funny interactions. They could leave it at that, and this would be an enjoyable listen. The magic of this podcast is they are also very intelligent and thoughtful, and don’t mind swimming in the deep water of ideas.
  • TribePurdon
    The laughs!
We love it most when y’all get laughing and enjoy yourselves while entertaining us. Thank you for teaching us (about WWF), challenging us (cigarette butt), and making us laugh until Mama had to run to the bathroom (possum hunt). We love learning from two humble guys who just ooze interesting tidbits which often convict us and cause us to think harder.

    So good
Matt and Destin are both great creators & communicators and always have interesting discussions that make me want to live in a way that’s worthy of being in the third chair.

Inject some thoughtfulness into your day
One of the most wholesome podcasts of all time. Destin and Matt feel like your good friends who cheer you up every time you’re with them. They tackle the whole gamut of topics, from trivial to complex, all the while bringing laughs and thought-provoking ideas to the table. I’m a mechanical engineer with a love of biblical studies as well as a growing household of kiddos, so maybe this podcast was just made for me??

Love the show! Start at #77
I’ve been a fan of this podcast for at least a year now. I love how deep Matt and Destin go on whatever topic they arrive at (whether accidentally or on purpose). I appreciate that they only accept sponsorships from products that they use and like. While I happen to share many of their views on religion, I appreciate how they always respect where people who are not of faith are coming from. I’m still a teenager and growing in my faith, and these men are both role models in my life, so thanks Matt and Destin for being awesome. P. S. If you are new then definitely start at episode #77. It’s titled New Listeners Start Here.
  • Nail Grass Chicken Nugget
    Positively glorious
Meaningful, thought provoking, fun. As Matt says, “stuff means stuff” and boy is there a lot of meaningful ‘stuff’ in these episodes. Just scroll through till you find a topic you like and try it out?
  • woahclar1
    Thought provoking and fun!!
This podcast was recommended by a friend and boy am I glad I gave it a listen. I started with the marshmallow episode and was hooked after learning about the shearing of a marshmallow. I’m an engineer who has always had an interest in history - so this podcast is literally perfect. I find myself getting emotional, laughing out loud and everything in between when listening. Thanks Matt and Destin!! (Ps just learned Destin is taller than Matt from an old episode - did not picture that in my head hahahah)

    Amazing, Thought-Provoking Podcast
A friend recommended this podcast a year or so ago and I gave it a try. It quickly became one of my favorite podcasts. I started from episode one and have now listened to every episode and it is now, definitely my favorite podcast. I come from an engineering background by education and I didn’t really appreciate history growing up. One of the biggest things that I found personally through this podcast is a developed sense of interest, wonder, and enjoyment of history. Thanks Matt! I also come from a Christian background, and Matt and Destin do mention their Christian beliefs occasionally, but I feel like they do the best out of almost anyone I know at not pushing their beliefs on others and just sharing what they believe and how it affects their decisions and world view. Overall, I have enjoyed every episode of this podcast and can’t wait for each new one. Proud to be one of the Winged Hussars!

    Effective and Affective… and fun
NDQ has an impact on how I think about some things, and that is a good thing….most of the time. ;-) And it is fun and engaging.
  • J_LeVine
    Thank you soo much!!
Thank you Destin and Matt!!! You are both so personal, and make me feel like I’m a part of your little world, that is NDQ! I love your story telling, and I love your way of explaining the world, and explaining how things have changed! I would really love to hear more story telling, more explaining of old technology, and the difference between dating and courting! Cant wait to hear more! Thank you so much for this podcast!

    Wholesome, Silly and Intellectual…?
I listen to both Matt and Destin’s channels individually and finding that they do this together was an amplifier to my podcast rotation. Full of interesting conversations and exploring corners of society and topics that wouldn’t normally be accessible in such a casual manner. Thank you for seeking these topics out and talking about so many subjects in rational and humanly ways. And yes, I listen to these podcasts almost 100% of the time on my Raycon earbuds.

A light hearted (most the time) and interesting podcast. I’ve been listening for a long time. I also watch both Matt’s & Destin’s YouTube channels. Always good stuff. So subscribe to this podcast. If it is not to your taste you will know relatively soon. If you do love this content, you will thank me.

I love this podcast! Destin and Matt are hilarious and goofy and yet have deep, complex ideas that are very thought provoking. I love their genuineness and their serious conversations. They also make me laugh a lot while listening.
  • Huge NDQ Fan
    Totally Tubular!
I discovered SED a few years ago, and it was my first encounter with quality YouTube. Destin’s videos are so meaningful, educational, and valuable. I love his pure joy of learning. The best part of any video is when he is puzzled or giddy when he has an epiphany. All-time best moment is when he introduced HARD-CORE dominoes. He knew what he was “researching” was ridiculous, but he didn’t care. I can relate so much! SED also served as a gateway into a world of media I never knew existed. SED lead me to NDQ, which acts as central hub where a constant stream of guests directs me to a new source of quality media. NDQ led me, of course, to TMBH, which I’ve thoroughly enjoyed. I’m 15, so I do a lot of yard work, and I run a lot, so I can plow through a lot of podcast episodes at double speed. I listened to 180 episodes of TMBH in 3 weeks. I love it. Matt’s delivery is exactly what we need in news coverage: a presentation of the facts, as well as a few theories. I love that Matt leaves conclusions up to the listener. *No, I’m not Matt’s mom :)*
