Just discovered this podcast, these three guys really know their stuff! I love how they analyze the music both technically and thematically, and really go in depth. There's nothing like it. Hope they can delve into LOTR someday!

These guys are a lot of fun to listen to. They're very lively hosts, really bringing you in and making you feel the love they have for the subject matter. They all bring a different perspective, which keeps things a bit more fresh than some of the other podcasts about film scores. I only wish they would make more episodes!

Entertaining and educational. Easily my favorite podcast and the only podcast that I have notifications enabled.

Very informative, a deep dive into the kind of chords that epitomize the spy genre and Fun. I hope they delve into older movie composers.

I just finished part 1 of empire and I think Nick said you’ll have to do a lot of other composers before coming back to Johnny but I hope that’s not true! I came here for John mostly and I’m surprised there hasn’t been Ennio yet! Unless I missed it! An underated JW score for me is catch me if you can, I’m sure many people recommend things and it gets old but oh well haha I’d ove To hear you all cover that! Thanks for existing! I love this podcast. All three guys obviously know a lot about films/music, and their enthusiasm for the world of film music is infectious!

It fills me with joy when I see a new episode drop. All three hosts (Andrew Pogson, Nicholas Buc, Dan Golding) have obvious enthusiasm for the topics as well as loads of professional experience. They go quite deep into the scores, themes, leitmotifs, and the instruments (all hail the CS-80 and the crumhorn). It’s a special delight when Seja Vogel is a guest host and brings her expertise on synthesizers. All in all, a very entertaining podcast which I recommend without any reservation.

There are now more than a few soundtrack podcasts and some are better than others. Art of the Score is near the top with great information, enbtertaining personalities and a nice mix of covered scores. Currently, I am loving your take on movie studio fanfares and as a fairly educated film score fanatic, I was blown away to find out that the Paramount "theme" from 1976 was written by Jerry Goldsmith. I mean, in the US at least, that piece of music was used at the start of every Paramount VHS release from the 80s going into the 90s. I've heard it 1000 times and never knew it was the maestro. Keep up the good work and keep those episodes coming!

As a professional musician/educator and soundtrack geek I was thrilled to find this podcast and have been binging all the episodes. The hosts are knowledgeable and illuminate the amazing relationship music has with media, diving into specific compositional techniques and historical facts while gracefully keeping any type of listener engaged. 5/5!

How has it taken me so long to know about this?? I have already recommended this to all of my friends and family who like film scoring and they love it too! I love that this covers the context of the film’s release, the different themes within the score, and interesting and relevant commentary. I would give this 10 stars if I could.

Thoughtful, thorough, informative, and very calming

I’ve been listening to this podcast for a looong time (since episode 6), and it never fails to be entertaining. These guys are pretty balanced across the board. They’re naturally funny enough to keep a listener smiling the whole way through but serious enough about the subject to satisfy anyone who isn’t just a casual score fan. They’re professionals in the business but they don’t talk to the listeners like they are students who should know the basics. Casuals like myself who just like to listen to scores and not pick them apart can follow along no problem. And if you like Australian accents... The only reason why I’ve given them 4 stars is because of their upload schedule (or lack thereof). They’ve done only 32 episodes since 2017, and haven’t committed to any sort of schedule; monthly, bimonthly, trimonthly, or otherwise. I know they’re probably busy, but I want more of my favorite score podcast. Can’t help it. Love it!

This is my favorite podcast. I’m almost all the way through them all & I think I’m going to go back & listen through them again!

The guys who host the podcast know their stuff and they present the material in a very interesting way. They’re so enthusiastic about what they’re doing that their episode on “Blade Runner 2049” made me forget just how boring that movie was and want to watch it again!

Only knock for a star is the music cuts are way louder than the dudes talking. For a music-based podcast, gotta know the balance is helpful.

These guys bring analysis to two of my favorite forms of entertainment. Movies and music. Nick buck is a musical genius. Really fun to listen to him dude the it all. My vote for a score review is the greatest movie of all time “Braveheart!”

Though new episodes show up very infrequently, each one is golden. Whether you’re a musician, film buff, or both, the hosts do a wonderful job at making the podcast wholly accessible. I’m always in awe at their ability to explain music. If you love film scores, this is essential listening.

Love these guys. Would love a mega Lord of the Rings series of episodes.

Great for movie and music people alike- I love the little theories, revelations and insights they pepper into their episodes. The mixture of musical and thematic examination as it relates to the movie is amazing. I’m hooked!

Brilliant and charismatic minds who can dig into the finer technical and artistic points of music, but can also explain it in an accessible and simple way. This makes it equally valuable to the trained and experienced musician, and the untrained film score enthusiast/fan. Please keep them coming!

These guys are nerds about movie music n the best of ways. They pull out so much fun trivia and break down all the cues and moments that make each score they unpack so interesting. I consider myself a Star Wars fan, but I learned more from this podcast about Star Wars than I expected! The trio has such a fun dynamic - digging deep but never taking themselves too seriously. Good stuff, gentlemen!

I’ve listened to a ton of podcasts over the years and have never felt compelled to review one til now. Wonderful, informed, and completely inspiring deep-dive into some fantastic film music. I’m so glad I found this.

This show does an excellent job pulling out the unique characteristics of movie scores and how the match the characters and scenes. They are hilarious too.

Recently discovered this pod, and starting with Raiders of the Lost Ark, I am hooked. As music and movie lovers these guys do a fantastic job explaining things musically. 10/10 will continue to listen

Without a doubt my favorite podcast. I’ve been a film score fan since I listened to the Phantom Menace score, and having a bit of background in playing music this is a great listen for those who want a bit of a more technical analysis of the craft, while still geeking out with the cues. My only gripe is the frequency of uploads, yet even that could be a positive so that with each new episode it feels like an event, so can’t wait to listen what new score you guys talk about next and just hope you keep it up and share more of your insights, because they’re quite enjoyable. Thank you guys.
