    Please don’t ever stop!
I found you after the stupidity of msnbc. I hope there will be news worthy information and I love that we get to see inside your mind, Joy Ann.

    Reid with the Read
You’re one of the best to do it. You’re always factual, knowledgeable and informative. The culture needs you to keep to keep informing the masses, calling out the hypocrisy and championing for the people. Keep doing you Joy and all things will fall into place. May abundance always follow you.

    Get Rid of the Timer
I love your show and listen regularly. I enjoy hearing your views and your humor. Could you PLEASE get rid of the timer? The ticking is very distracting to hearing what you’re saying and the dings are annoying.

    Not convinced!
Joy, I trust you and I’m a fan but a cheater is going to cheat. Trump stated for months that he did not need votes because he had enough and his buddy Elon had a special app that provided the election results 4 hours before it was official. He had too much to lose. I think we are so use to pushing “our elections are secured” narrative after 4 years of this criminal constantly stating the last election was stolen that we accept he won fair and square. Glad you are back. IJS

    The Reid cousins are back!
Joy Ann and Jacque are back! This podcast is like going to a family gathering and sitting with your two favorite cousins. Two amazingly brilliant Black women who can hold their own on any topic. This podcast has an amazing balance of humor and intelligence. If you are encountering the show for the first time, go back and listen to all the episodes. Thank you Reid cousins for providing this space.

    Welcome back!!
I am thrilled that y’all are back 🥰I never knew how much I missed you until I heard the podcast today. It was the best! I was shaking and nodding head at the same time. I know the people in the DMV were probably wondering what is going on with that lady😂 Thanks for making my drive to and from work today a smooth one. Can’t wait for the next episode!

    What’s the schedule
I enjoy the podcast. They have a great chemistry and truly feel like cousins. What I can’t understand is the inconsistency in recording. They go weeks without recording, but there is never a heads up they’re taking a break. Lack of consistency makes it a hard podcast to love.

Guest Iyanla Showed Little Compassion When She Called People Lazy
I generally enjoy this podcast and maybe it’s not the forum for challenging guests. But I wanted one of the co-hosts to challenge guest Iyanla Vanzant’s view that one of the reasons people (in the USA I assume) don’t do the work of therapy is laziness. Ms Vanzant has been upheld by Oprah and entertainment media as a credible spiritual and mental health adviser. Her laziness comment lacked the awareness, empathy and skill one would expect from someone who is a counselor, but it does reflect the harshness of USA culture. More importantly, in a context where too many people are overworked, underpaid, not educated about the value of therapy and can’t afford healthcare, podcasts featuring counselors like Vanzant can be so helpful. It’s not the end of the world, but co-hosts, please think about your audience so that when you’re showing respect to your guest, you don’t forget to think about how their words may hurt your audience.

A good listen for the over 40 crowd!
I love podcasts and find it hard to locate podcasts that are fun AND informative that speak to my interests as a 50 year old African American woman. This podcast does that! From politics to pop culture to health and wellness, The Cousins discuss it all. A recent podcast with Toure’ did not land well with me for several reasons. This is the same Toure’ that faced allegations of sexual harassment in the workplace 2 years ago, which was highly concerning to me and I don’t recall any real dialogue in the Black community (which I am a member of) about the allegations. I do remember a sort of silence and dismissal of the allegations, which doesn’t give space for women to be heard. There was no mention of the allegations in the podcast...which I did not expect...however Toure’ made comments that were insensitive and from a place of privilege that were glossed over. For example, in his recounting of how he and his wife got the vaccine, he described the pharmacy that offered the vaccine as “ghetto” and is intimated that the Black folks that were in line for lotto tickets instead of the vaccine were “ghetto”, too. *crickets* In his remarks about DMX days after his passing he shared a story about DMX having a woman to his hotel room that left her phone number on the windshield of his truck after she spotted him at a mall. In his comments he mentioned earlier that night he was present when DMX was professing his love to his child’s mother (who he was in a relationship with) during a heated phone conversation. Relevance? *crickets*. Absolutely none. To their credit, the cousins worked to move past the privileged comments Toure’ made and did not follow him down those unnecessary paths. It would have affirming to hear the cousins challenge Toure’s comments or at least counter them with positive comments meant to diminish those comments. I am hopeful Toure’ listens to his comments on the podcast and reflects on how he could have shown up less privileged and more empathetic, which is exactly how the cousins show up on the podcast. Overall, a good listen and the cousins have great chemistry. I am so glad they are back after a break and I can’t wait to hear from them for the duration of 2021. All good things...

    Great Show/Volume Shows
Great show! I thoroughly enjoy the content of each episode. Please be careful with the excessive over talking. It takes away from the listening experience.

    Annoying Bad Habit
Please stop talking over each other. It gives permission to your guests to do the same. It’s very annoying and distracting to your listeners. Please do better!

    My Newfound Aunties
I have adopted both of these women into my virtual podcast family. They are beautiful, smart, opinionated and funny! Listening to them feels like home. 😊

Watch Joy all the time on MSNBC and Jacque Reed from her days on BET & Tom Joyner. Love em both and always a great podcast

    Grown Woman Business
I had a friend suggest I listen to the episode with Bevy Smith. He said it was a ‘must listen’ because it touched on what we’d been talking about. Building my brand. Well, this episode was like me and my girls getting together and just speaking truth. It felt good just to listen. I didn’t know these ladies had a podcast, but I’m glad I do now. This feels like a 40 vibe and I like that can relate to what they’re saying. Too often I feel like some podcasts I’ve come across are more for younger women and I can’t relate. I think I found a keeper.

    Dumb and dumber.
Joy is truly one of the dumbest people on the planet. Conspiracy theory after conspiracy theory. Openly racist against white people and jews. Has she found those hackers yet?

I miss these ladies so much! 😩
This pod was always one of the highlights of my week. I’m toying with just starting again at the beginning and re-listening. Or I may just go straight to the “impossible burger” episode and then skip around from there.

    Love these ladies
Wanted to comment on Tia and Tamara. Tia was on baggage claim. Tamara has the mole “m” in mole and Tamara is how I remember them. This is from the March 29th discussion. This podcast is so informative!!

    Potential but needs work
I really enjoy these ladies and their perspective but the lack of professionalism is disappointing. The volume issues & dogs barking are too much.

I fall out laughing at Miss Jacque’s exasperation with Miss JoyAnn over shows she hasn’t watched!!

Entertainingly funny, informative, chit chatty, and down to earth! Take a listen and enjoy 🙌🏾

    Dog Barking
I completely agree with the previous review. Found myself saying out loud, “why are you not taking care of that dog barking?” I expect more professionalism and why is cousin joy not telling her to handle that? Please get it together! Love you guys, but, really?!
  • lks02
    Your barking dog
Please take care of your dog so it doesn’t bark during your at home podcast. I am a devoted fan but can not listen with a constantly barking dog.
  • DJTopaaz
These sisters are smart and funny!
I love the black girl banter between Joy and Jacque. Keep up the good work, keep us politically aware, fashionably gorgeous and keep suggesting the vegan options. I’m not a vegan but you’ve definitely opened my mind to trying more vegan options. Love the show!

It’s so awesome to hear you educate your co-hosts. Trump had to be impeached!! It’s messed up that the senate won’t do their job or even listen to the facts. He won't be removed but he had to be impeached. This is not the same situation as Clinton. Not even close!!!!!!!!
  • DaystarDani
    Love the Aunties!
At 15:16 I was so concerned! It was right after a commercial and I had forgot that Chris was there. I thought Auntie Joy’s voice had dropped a couple octaves. I was worried she might be sick. Lol! Then I remembered. Love the show...including Cousin Chris!

    Fabulous Content
Love the show!!! My friend and I are looking to launch a podcast ourselves and we looking to follow a similar format. Thanks for the inspiration. I just discovered you guys a few weeks and I too noticed a slight issue with the sound quality. I actually thought it was my device. Some shows were clear as a bell. Keep up the great work.

Black Ladies Rock.. but the producer?
I admire Jackie and Joy and I love this podcast. BUT the technical issues really hurt the podcast and cause listeners to stop listening. The audio issues are consistent but the latest episode was unbearable. It was obvious that Jackie’s microphone was off for the entire podcast... how did you not know? I understand that mistakes can happen but this is not the first time. Advice to the producer: please check microphones and have a test run before recording the live show. I will continue to support this podcast and I really hope the technical issues improve.
  • ElleOnErf
Play cousins, I love y’all but...
...the only reason why this review isn’t 5 stars is because of the sound quality—it’s not great and is inconsistent. Between the low amplification, mic placement and peaking I’m struggling y’all. This is an easy fix...please, please. Other than that, the free flowing conversation is awesome!
  • Safia lovechild
    Great podcast!!
I love this podcast so much!!! My only concern is a technical issue. The Volume is too low. Please please fix it.
  • MistyEagle
Enjoyable but the sound levels need to be better
The sound levels have always been inconsistent, but the latest episode was the worst. Joy Ann sounded fine but Jacque sounded like she was too far from the microphone. I’m not sure how no one noticed that before posting the episode. It made it really hard to focus on what Jacque was saying. Otherwise I do enjoy the show but please fix your sound levels.

    Natural Hair Talk
Great show! You guys should look up @iamblackgirlcurls on IG. Different philosophy, but I’ve been natural since 2013 and it’s the best advice I’ve received thus far! Keep up the great work!
