44

A manga discussion podcast focusing on shojo (and josei!) series that make your heart go doki-doki. Covering classics like CLAMP’s “Cardcaptor Sakura” and Yuu Watase’s “Fushigi Yuugi” to newer favorites like Kazune Kawahara’s “My Love Story!!” and Hiro Fujiwara’s “Maid Sama!” Shojo & Tell host Ashley McDonnell discusses one series per episode with a rotating shojo superfan. We're recreating all those impassioned rants you'd have with your friends about your favorite series, just in podcast form.Shojo [or shoujo] manga: Japanese comics made for young women. A breath of fresh air after reading over 100 volumes of “One Piece.” The underappreciated sibling of all those same-y never-ending shonen titles.

Nice Variety of Guests and Shojo titles discussed
Definitely a good place to find interesting discussions and manga titles

    THE shoujo space
This is my favorite podcast :) What I enjoy the most is that someone - either the guest or Ashley herself - really enjoys the manga, so they can still have a passionate discussion about it (I find podcasts where they're simply trashing the thing the entire time very unenjoyable). I also like that there is only a short summary before the real meat of the discussion comes up. I love every episode of this and listen as soon as it drops and have been for the past three years! Really got me through the pandemic. The theme song of the podcast is amazing :)

    A must for Shojo fans
Ashley and Asher covers a lot of classical manga and media in time where shonen gets the cake and eat it, too. A much needed and refreshing escape for younger girls and ladies who wants to dive in their own media✨

    Awesome!!
It feels like I’m enjoying a conversation with my BFFS!!! Most of this is super relatable and fun to listen to! It was so hard not to laugh on the ouran high school host club one 🤣

Chatty and not much of content
I listened to the maid sama podcast and it was just two girls laughing at the plot or the conversations in the book even they don’t know the plot well. The podcast itself is too chatty and does not give real content. I like the concept of telling stories about shogo manga but you gotta know better about them

    Awesome and Fun Listen
I came across this podcast late last year and I’m so glad I did! Ashley has such amazing personality and keeps things interesting each episode; along with great variety of guest. Thanks to this podcast I have from new Shojo titles to read. This is a podcast I highly recommend.

    Detailed and enjoyable podcast
I really enjoyed the episode of Banana Fish. I’ve been watching the anime and was excited to find a podcast discussing the manga and anime. Both hosts were knowledgeable about the series and it was enjoyable to listen to it in its entirety. The discussion about the art style and differences between the show and manga (I haven’t read the manga) were also things that I found interesting to hear It put a smile on my face to hear the best Ash and Eiji moments from both hosts. Time for the second part!

    So much fun!
The host and guest hosts are enthusiastic about shojo and their faovrite series, which makes it a joy to listen to. I've found that a lot of manga/anime podcasts can overlook the shojo genre, so it's great to have a show highlighting these works in particular. And it's led to me buying a bunch of new series to try out, too!

my childhood self is crying tears of joy (and so am i)
as an avid shoujo lover of 6 or so years, this podcast has been a total joy to listen to!! utena, cardcaptor sakura, and maid-sama are all some of the series closest to my heart, and the people who chat about them are clearly just as passionate! it was super fun to hear a seventeen quiz's opinion on misaki's love for usui haha i'm really excited for future episodes, especially regarding some of the less well-known shoujo manga to be covered! (kitchen princess, maybe? or skip beat, or something by arina tanemura... whatever they cover, i'll be excited to listen!) now go listen to this podcast ❤️✨
