omnivert mamaA great tool for the parenting/homeschool tool box!Rachel’s vast knowledge and the guests she has on are a far reaching resource. What she presents on her podcast bring in a wide range of ideas and potential for the critical thinker!
-
RochelleadairPerspective changerI started listening to this podcast as a brand new mom and, now, 6 years and 2 kids into motherhood I still value so much that I learned and continue to learn from Rachel. She has such an eye opening and gentle perspective that has truly helped me so much in navigating parenthood.
-
njpnjpnjpnjpInformative and fun podcast!I’ve listened to the Sage Family podcast for years. It’s a great source of inspiration and education, and has fantastic guests. I recommend this podcast for anyone interested in a thoughtful approach to raising a family with a strong bond.
-
tslorthe#seriousparentinggoalsI cannot stop talking about how inspiring Rachel and this podcast are. Even as a non-homeschool family I have learned so much from her and her guests and cannot stop sharing it will my partner and friends. She opens your eyes and challenges you to move off the mainstream path of thinking about children, parenting, and living. Whenever I feel the overwhelm of parenting set in I know this podcast and Rachel’s other tools will help me find my way back.

SVillinesRefreshing take on homeschooling.Love the host’s calming voice and her point of view. We need more people like her in the homeschool community.
-
ncpeifferContinues to be my FavoriteI found Rachel earlier in my homeschool journey, and I can’t say enough beautiful things about her and her family. She truly is carving a space in the homeschool community unlike any other. Her advice is always thoughtful, well researched, and eloquent. I feel so fortunate to have this podcast and her books in my back pocket as I navigate schooling and living authentically with these little and now not so little people of mine.

juliecinciWise, compassionateRachel is a skilled thinker. She brings a blend of insight, curiosity, and passion to her work. She lives her values. I highly recommend her work including her book and this podcast.
-
mincrat loverFantastic Family support for everyoneI have been following this podcast and social media page for several years. The author uses her platforms to deconstruct outdated, harmful ideology. She is healing and open to learning. Rachel is excepting to all children and all families and is using her platform for the betterment of education and family life for all children. Thank you so much Rachel for using your platform for good, I highly recommend these podcasts and social media pages. They are educational, loving and excepting, it is a safe space.
-
GirldeclinedRare VoiceI don’t agree with Rachel on everything, but I greatly appreciate how she is one of the few homeschooling/unschooling platforms that affirms the rights and dignity of LGBTQIA individuals. I would recommend her to anyone considering homeschooling as she approaches things from a different perspective than many in this space.
-
itsmoo2LGBTQ+ agenda pusherRachel posted her support for the trans movement on the Sage Family Instagram account. She then deleted the comments that disagree with her viewpoint. She was wrong about some of the points she was making in the comments. She was not open to hear anything except what she has already made up her mind about. Seeing as how she has the platform to spew her opinion and sensor those who disagree with her, she has revealed how closed-minded she is, and is not someone I can respect anymore.

Truelly’s momUplifting and encouragingI found this podcast as I tried to understand unschooling (very reluctantly). I was irrationally against it until I made friends with someone who unschooled and had the best kids and family I had come into contact with. I am so thankful for this podcast and the friendly conversations that allow me to visit and process concepts I don’t understand without having to face a conversation I might not know how to navigate. Even when I don’t think a podcast subject will apply to me I find that I take away family changing information. I am so thankful for the help this has provided me in having a better relationship with my children. Rachel is a joy. She is gentle and caring in her teaching. She gives me hope for a better family life and a better world. Best podcast ever!!!!

BrookeAlly15Not for EveryoneI’m giving 3 stars because there are some things to consider looking into when it comes to homeschooling, however, I did start reading Sage Homeschooling and I am not easily offended but most of the book felt very snarky. It feels as though if you don’t follow her advice shame on you. This is A very close minded way of thinking. The one thing I can take away from the podcast and the book is to let your children express themselves and listen instead of just telling them what to do because you said so. Take with that what you want.

VanJoIsenI shared this with everyone I knew!I have been struggling with relationships and really understanding and respecting boundaries. And I happened to find Sage parenting and sage podcast. And what a beautiful experience. The podcast about boundaries was incredible and so eye opening and honestly refreshing. It made so much sense and was so helpful! I shared it with everyone I know and I can’t wait to start practicing and implementing their tactics.

Hannah Rose ArleneCan’t say enough about Rachel! This is going to sound dramatic, but between her podcast and books, Rachel really has changed my life. As a new mom I struggled with following my instincts and going against all of the “shoulds” and norms of American society. She helped me trust and lean into my gut, follow my instincts, and have the language to articulate what I’m passionate about in the world of parenting and beyond. I can’t recommend her and her work enough. I’m a happier, more free, more grounded and more content version of myself. Thank you Rachel!
-
Jen @ GoDiaperFreeGreat info!A kind, respectful podcast where parents are made to feel welcomed. Really enjoy the variety of topics and how they are discussed, giving practical advice as well as overall views and thoughts. Appreciate bringing these ideas and conversations to so many!
-
GMNusaGood messageAs a new mom, I really appreciate the message and topics. I would absolutely had given this 5 stars, but I do get frustrated when Rachel interrupts and does not let her guests speak. More than half of the “interview” is taken up with Rachel’s monologues about her own experiences with the guest speaker remaining silent. Roles reversed? It feels more like a dinner conversation than a guest speaker. I do like the topics, though, and goals.
-
CarolynSaccomannoOne of my favorites!I look forward to every episode! Sound advice, a soothing voice, and a gentle approach. One of my favorite parenting podcasts, hands down!
-
FatimaBakineed to let the guest speak moreI love most of the topic she discusses and her view of the gentle parenting and unschooling. I have been a listener for the past three years and learned a lot from her. However, she doesn’t really let her guest to complete their thoughts and ideas before jumping in and affirming with her own thoughts and ideas. I have found myself many time eagerly waiting to hear from the guest more yet Rachel is giving the conclusion for the guests. Sometimes it is hard to not being able to fully listen the guest, and I just forward the episode. I love her guests and topic.
-
deegmarieGood adviceJen has good parenting advice but her interview episodes are painful to listen to. The guest seems to barely get a word in and it seems like she structures the questions so she can say what she wants to say. She goes into a random monologue mid interview where it seems like she’s just reading from a script. I’m not sure why she bothers having guests if she doesn’t let them speak. It feels extremely rude sometimes. That being said she does give good parenting advice.
-
Satah from AZA calm, grounded voiceRachel’s professional expertise coupled with her real life examples from parenting her own kiddos have been influential in my unschooling journey. I hear her calm, grounded voice like that of a trusted friend. I so appreciate her vulnerability and willingness to mentor others on this incredible journey through her podcast. Thank you, Rachel!
-
ewetopiaPrivilegeThis alternative schooling is so necessary, my kids are so much happier now that they are home. I am very surprised at how privileged this podcast family seems to be and her guests as well. Assuming everyone can unschool is unfortunately not how our culture and social systems work in the United States. I wish there was some acknowledgement of these struggles occasionally. An attempt to see life through other lenses.
-
MollyLPCNewbieI’m new to homeschooling. Rachel makes my road ahead seem not only manageable, but illuminates it in glowing, forest dappled light. Whenever I struggle or feel plagued with doubt, she offers the wisdom I need. Her guests and the twists and turns of their conversations almost always alleviate my concerns and back my intuition up with science and experience.
-
oliviajeskeInvaluableI am new to unschooling and am currently diving deep to learn all that I can. This podcast is in one word: invaluable. The people interviewed have such fantastic information that resonates deeply with me and there is so so SO much information that every episode is like it’s own treasure box. I cannot wait to see what amazing experiences unschooling brings my children and our family and this podcast is like a beacon of light guiding the way! The resources are endless and the words of wisdom are profound.
-
LakeRubyHighly recommend!!Rachel’s words and interviews add so much peace and hope to my day. I am always inspired when I listen, and find myself jotting down notes. If you have kids, you will benefit from this podcast!

janineBNVSO SO GOOD!!!Authentic, with depth and integrity! Love every word Rachel says!!!

ClhebelMostly GREAT Podcast!I have enjoyed SO many episodes from Rachel! She’s very well spoken, her voice is calming, she’s knowledgeable, progressive and interesting. The only thing I wish were different in this: when she is discussing a topic which she is very comfortable (for example: not using sticker charts for children because they are manipulative, etc.) she tends to laugh and giggle at the idea that someone might still be doing that. That reaction is off-putting. It feels as if she has figured everything out and those who don’t follow suit are silly. While that may be true I bet a small alteration to the conversation could be made to make BOTH newbies and experienced parties feel comfortable. Thank you Rachel for your wonderfully intentional and well-researched contributions to life!
-
Zoe DonleyLove love love this podcast!I’ve been slowly working my way through all the episodes of this podcast over the past couple of months and have learned so much. Everything that is discussed by Rachel and her guests makes so much sense to me on a deep level, it’s like she’s turning on the lights in a dark room and I’m able to see things so clearly now that were all blurry and out of focus before. I’m a new mother, my daughter is only 13 months but since having her, I am questioning so much about the mainstream ways of parenting that I’d never even considered before. I didn’t even know unschooling was a thing before listening to this podcast but I already know it’s what I want to do with my daughter. I’m excited about this journey ahead rather than being filled with a feeling of dread at the thought of sending her to school! Thank you Rachel, you help soothe my soul and fill me with hope and excitement knowing there is a better path out there!

Aud412A beautiful podcastI have grown a lot through Rachel and her podcast. I greatly appreciate all of the work she gives to the world. She is an inspiration and brings a beautiful perspective to motherhood and life. I highly recommend everyone listen to this podcast as each episode provides so much room for growth and learning.

TabsaskMixed FeelingsI like the content of this podcast enough to subscribe and listen regularly. When she has guests, they bring a lot of good info and perspective, and I appreciate what they bring to the table. She’s pretty good at presenting quality content that I both enjoy and benefit from. That being said, I find the flow/style of the pod in general to be distracting. She uses a lot of unnecessary sound effects, which always annoys me. There seem to be a lot of “segments” she does before getting into the ”meat and potatoes” of the episode; almost as if she’s heard other podcasters doing these little bits that she likes and feels she needs to do all of them, too. I also agree with another reviewer that her interview skills could use some work. She does often interrupt with an odd giggle or interject her own thoughts or ideas in, and it seems like she uses her guests to make herself look like the expert or hero, rather than focus on what they are bringing to the table. Like I said, I still listen because I appreciate the content, and that outweighs the annoying parts of the pod (my personal preference on style, really). There are others I love as much or more, but I come back to this one regularly, too.

TrickbirdAs a new mom in today’s crazinessThis podcast was everything I needed to hear. I feel so much more confident in following my natural parenting tendencies now that I am realizing not only am I not alone - but people are coming together over these new methods of parenting and allowing kids to be kids and not robots! I absolutely love all the advice, guest speakers, topics, and lil tidbits of fascinating information! I highly recommend this for anyone who feels they want more options on how to parent, who are sick of society telling us how to go about life, parenting, making a living, etc. Life is what you make it! Nothing more, nothing less.

LIVEfor empowering kidsGives me hopeThis podcast is like a breath of fresh air and a perfect cup of coffee on a fall day. From the opening music, to the soothing sound of Rachel’s voice, and finishing with the most inspirational, action oriented, and useful knowledge her and her guests share, I am hooked. This world can be heavy sometimes and it doesn’t always feel right. This podcast gives me hope that I can make a difference in my life, my husband and my child’s life, and even in the lives of others simply by how I choose to live and show up in the world each and every day. Thank you for giving me hope to live the family life of my dreams!
-

Andilou26Life changing, soul affirming insight!!Our family has been elevated to a new level in every nook and cranny of our lives— from finances to (de)schooling to minimalism... and more— by Rachael’s calm, wise insight. I have spent the past few months absorbing ALL of her episodes and loving every. single. one. I feel like she speaks directly to my instincts— reaffirming what my heart has always felt to be true about living a life we all love, together. It’s as though I heard small whispers of these ways of living coming from deep within, yet society has always had a way of pushing the voices back down. Rachael invited those voices to speak loudly, with confidence, forever setting free my inner voice and the well-being of our family. Thank you, Rachael!!!

Superblondieno2InspiringI am so inspired by Rachel’s insights and those of her guests. My oldest being 4 years old and having to get more serious on my homeschooling strategies and philosophies, I am so glad to have found this podcast. Many of my forming thoughts and values are right inline with what is discussed and she challenges and inspires me to jump right in with those. I can wait to listen to more

eob14Sage Family PodcastEvery episode by Rachel is an elixir for the soul. Her voice is poetry and her support through the audible airways is tangible. She is hope embodied and beauty shared. Every episode needs to be listened to more than once because her wisdom runs deep. If you have time to listen to one podcast, this is the one to prioritize. Thank you Rachel for inspiring and lifting, for helping all who listen imagine and dream.

_JennyTYou and your child will THRIVE with this infoIf you want to feel more connected to your family. If you want to trust your children’s development more and their natural brilliance, listen to this podcast! Once I heard the crackling of the fire in the intro to the podcast I immediately felt excited for what was to come. Listening is calming, empowering and informative. It’s both artful and game-changing info that all parents need to have access to.

podcast namesake BayI LOVE IT!!!I love the Sage Family podcast not just because Rachel is my mom but it also gives great advice. Love ya mommy. ;)

RrakusinI want to give it 5 stars but...I am a new stay at home parent, but I’m a former high school English teacher. I’m also a millennial. I would like to recommend that Mrs. Rainbolt read Nicholas Carr’s The Shallows: What the internet is doing to our brains. Respectfully, Mrs. Rainbolt’s perspective on screen time for children seems naïve. She consistently points to the fact that there is no good research out there to support limiting screen time, when the opposite is true. Carr’s extremely well-researched and well-supported book was long listed for the Pulitzer. It’s a great resource for anyone in education and parents alike.
-
mamaneakRachel Rainbolt Thank YouThank you for doing this and sharing your ideas, your life and methods. I am grateful for how my mind has been opened and for the safe space you’ve provided me on the beginning of my homeschool journey. I need to hear what you and your guests share. It enriches my life and helps me move towards the direction of who I want to be as a person, daughter, wife, mother, teacher, friend... thank you. Q

Skylar90Sage Parenting is amazing!Seriously my favorite podcast I’ve ever listened to. I’ve learned so much about gentle parenting, minimalism and simplicity, and just connecting and making this stage joyful. Thank you Rachel!
-
ellabella79Incredible ResourceI love this Podcast, thank you so much! I am pregnant with my first child and have always found my values so different than most mainstream parents I know. It was such a relief to discover the gentle parenting community and especially this podcast which I feel is preparing me for parenthood. Would also love to request an episode on food as I have been greatly traumatized in that department by my own parents and would love to learn more about the gentle approach.
-
bmoore511My favorite all around podcast as a motherAs a fellow mom and entrepreneur, I’m so freaking grateful I came across your podcast. It has led to researching many different outlets and topics I never would have come across. And it’s been such a fun discovery as a new mom (as much as researching alone can be an endless rabbit hole lol) I love how real your podcast is, the various topics are spot on, and the freedom you give women to make their own choice, question their beliefs and trust themselves. I find this refreshing and extremely healthy and helpful in this “guru” era of seeking for answers outside of ourselves. It’s so encouraging to my soul when I stumble across like minded spirits. So thank you for what you’re creating and doing. 🙏🏻

smf1123Host Is Constantly Bringing the Conversation Back to HerI am listening to the episode on Decluttering before the holidays and I can’t get through it. It’s really annoying that Rachel constantly brings the conversation back to her and what she does to declutter and simplify. I want to hear from the woman that she is interviewing. She needs to learn basic interviewing skills. It also sounds as if she’s reading the questions and doesn’t sound like a natural conversation. I may try another episode because I like the topics, but if it’s the same, I will definitely be unsubscribing. She should take some interview tips from Wellness Mama who is a great interviewer and never interrupts or brings the conversation back to herself

courtney0834Explore, learn and self growthThis podcast is my go to for my self care free time! I am not surrounded with many people who think like I do, and I feel like I found a group of friends where I can grow, learn and feel like I’m not alone with the sage parenting group and podcast! It’s made it easier to hold strong for the things I want for my family and continue to work on my self!
-
MechaChanGreat advice for being a good person in generalI love this show so much that I even refer it to my friends without kids. I think a lot of the topics and advice goes hand in hand with just being a good person. Yes the conversations talk about ways to be a more thoughful parent, but the way you get there is to grow as a person yourself which could be helpful for anyone. As a soon to be parent I have been devouring every episode.

SarahBryton6Food for the soul and a practical tool kit for lifeIt’s only taken me so long to write a review because I couldn’t figure out how to do it 😂 this podcast has been the background music to my life that keeps me questioning everything, while also inspiring a deep love for life in me I never knew I had. It fulfills my souls need to answer the big questions in life while fulfilling my intellectual need to understand the whys and hows. My parter will listen to an episode on the way home from work, and we get to have long conversations about it when he gets home. I recommend this podcast to anyone who wants to be a kinder parent, and person, and to anyone who wants to live an intentional life on all fronts. Thank you Rachel!
