Malaika is a real weak spot in this podcast. I enjoy her articles, but her tendency to interrupt and ramble makes her a poor podcast guest.

I’ve listened to the podcast from the beginning, but Malaika’s interruptions of other hosts and content are horrible.

I’m really trying hard to like this podcast because the subject really interests me. But the woman with the overly-affected, drawn out vocal fry just makes it impossible to take this show seriously. It’s like the coffee shop scene in Loudermilk.

The content is almost always amazing. The latest episode from 12/16/24, however, had very bad audio for the guests not the host. I expect better quality from Hodinkee.

I tried to like this podcast after listening to a few episodes, but it was just too hard to stay engaged. HODINKEE has had some good video content in the past, but even that has gotten worse, with many hosts and guests sounding unrelatable and egotistical. There are so many better podcasts and bloggers out there who are more relatable and easy to listen to. Another major issue is how bad the audio engineering is on this podcast. They really need to hire somebody who knows how to use compression, because they talk so quietly, to a point where you can't hear them, and then they talk so loud That my speakers in my car crackle. They need someone who knows how to use compression so their highs and lows in volume get more leveled out. That alone made this unbearable to listen to.

In the same way that Hodinkee has destroyed their main product, now too have they completed the tragedy by destroying what used to be one of the best Podcast around. The show is now stocked with topics that no one cares about, guests that aren’t engaging, poorly thought thru themes, and a host who doesn’t even read his own company’s articles (when written by the founder). Hodinkee Radio in 2024 is unlistenable, and needs to be sunset. Go listen to W&W instead - you’ll hear people that are not afraid of job cuts and austerity measures to keep the doors open.

Would give 5 stars to any episode that does not include Malaika.

It feels like the podcast and publication has lost touch. What was once enthusiast focused, has crossed over to something else. The production quality is good as ever, but the content is not for everyone.

I just got into watches about 6 months ago, and eventually found Hondinkee’s content. I didn’t listen to the “old” podcast format (so I can’t comment on that), but really dig the new format, and glad to see it’ll be a weekly podcast. The “what’s on your wrist” and “collecting advice” are good standard discussion points—looking forward to hearing those in future episodes.

Lost its original touch and special voice. Now is just part of the hype train and have completely sold out. I hope they figure out how to engage again but keep losing good people and now have laid off many staff (again).

Not fun and entertaining like back in the day. Too much glamour and glitz.

I never felt the need to write a review until I heard pompous Ben Clymer talking about how “no one is as big of fan as X-brand as me” and how he single handedly saved watch journalism. Just got on with the show and talk about what you’re looking forward to in Watches and Wonders.

Love the episodes with Jack Cole and Danny. Great humor and watch content. You guys have me laughing.

What was once a great podcast with Stephen at the helm has degraded into a boring discussion of uninteresting topics reminiscent of water cooler talk at an office. Get a new host, get some interesting guests (not just jack) and for the love of god talk about more interesting topics

Stephen, host of the podcast, highlights all aspects of vintage and modern wristwatches and more in this can’t miss podcast! The host and expert guests offer insightful advice and information that is helpful to anyone that listens!

Don’t get me wrong, Steven was a great host and I enjoyed the show occasionally. Now that James has taken over, the vibe is really different. He connects all the guests and you get a sense they’re all really enjoying it. It’s now a must-listen. Bravo.

A loyal TGN listener, I stopped listening a few years back but was drawn right back in when James took over. Love the energy he brings. Keep up the good work!

The first year or so was amazing, now the show seems very repetitive and I’m sensing a creeping political undertone which is grating. Still the show is at its strongest when the whole team is together after watch launches. Maybe they can get back to more of that.

Pompous out of touch and has become ads for themselves and their products Used to be really great honest watch reviews and inforrmstion, now they just hawk 7k hodinkee brand alarm clocks and put out articles promoting their items in the shop.

Not sure why HODINKEE radio can’t just be the editors talking watches? I love hearing what the editors think. I have been following HODINKEE closely since 2009. The editors all have their own perspective and brand of taste which I will really enjoy! Seriously love them. When they talk together, their insights are 2nd to none.

Despite some good content, Stevie P’s phumphering thru the podcast is just too much. “Aaahhhh” “like” over and over is just too much.

My favorite episodes are those with Hodinkee staff only. Interview episodes can be hit or miss, but it is nice when the guest is someone I’ve never heard of and I’m pleasantly surprised by how enjoyable the conversation is. I also really like the inside the industry discussions.

Absolutely love the podcast. Longtime reader of the site and listener of this program and the Gray NATO Podcast. I’d give it 5 stars, but sometimes the host delves into political topics that I don’t agree with (unnecessary anti-Trump bias). I’d just appreciate a more neutral stance from an company and hobby I enjoy so much.

Literally no episode without leftist agenda inserts. Next episode will be about Trump behind their travel clock success.

The host seems more excited about talking about fashion and media than about watches themselves. Too many episodes are just interviews of fancy people. I don’t mind personality driven episodes, but I’d rather hear long interviews with watch collectors, designers, and makers than with other people in the world of media, fashion, or anything. I also wish they would bring a little more honest criticism to their coverage of watches. They seem so careful not to say anything that might alienate their sponsors or other watch brands, and that is a shame. The watch world would be so much better if we had more media outlets that were willing to take on difficult issues, call out bad watches and bad watch marketing, and speak with a courageous and honest voice.

Great content. Enjoyable, entertaining, and educational. However, the humility that existed initially seems to be dissipating over time and being replaced with a growing arrogance. The foul language... so unnecessary and truly diminishes the brand that HODINKEE has built over the past decade. I’m hopeful that you will return to what brought you this large following...

I read Hodinkee and also enjoy the podcasts. They sure know their watches, Steven is an excellent host and interviewer, and their guests are uniformly interesting. This podcast and especially The Grey Nato are my two favorite podcasts.

I learn about watches here and much more about the world because watch people are so diverse. If you haven’t already, listen to the episode with editor Joe Thompson.

This was a fun and interesting episode. Having said that, someone please tell me where in March of 2020 they are offering an Explorer 14270 for $4000? Lol!

I am a watch lover, but even if I wasn’t, I think I’d get a lot of existential satisfaction out of these episodes. I love the episode with James Stacey. It really hit home with me.

HODINKEE’s decision to start this podcast was one of their greatest. The topics, guests, editing, and everything else about this podcast are all unique and top of the line. I am obsessed with this show and HODINKEE in general. As a young 21 year old who is becoming obsessed with watches, this podcast has helped me to learn so much! Keep up the incredible work HODINKEE!

Great podcast. But listening to Clymer and Pulvirent say “it’s a pretty neat thing” thirty-seven times in one podcast gets a little old.

The new format is great! The old one hard for anyone to truly carry, that is aside from Jean-Claude Biver and Joe Thompson.

This show lights up all of the best parts of my brain. From the pleasure I get from listening to the Hodinkee crew banter to the inspiration the show gives me to care about what I love. I walk away from the show feeling a freedom to obsess over watches, as I have for 40 years, with no shame. I’m left with a longing to join, to meet, to learn. Pure joy.

Everything about Hodinkee Radio is AMAZING. It’s not just the hosts knowledge about watches that makes it such a good Watch Podcast, it’s how they construct the shows. Between the guests that they bring on, the variety of watch brands & events they talk about, and the current trends and events give it so much variety that makes the show entertaining. The way Stephen and the whole Hodinkee team geek out on watches and other people’s stories makes me geek out. Heck even the intro-music to the show gets me pumped for the episode. Great Podcast!

Though I have been following Hodinkee from very early on I just started to listen to some select episodes. They feature a lot of people I follow on other platforms like Matt Hranek, Spike Feresten, Ted Gushue to name just a few. While there is of course always watch content the podcast goes beyond.
