This podcast is well worth the time and money. Incredible learning resource for probably the most important revolution in history.

    Join the Revolution
Very solid and to the point summary of the Revolutionary era. Michael relates facts and events in concise form and largely chronological order. The episodes are of a length that makes for easy listens (roughly the length of an average commute). He covers major events as well as background trends and developments. Very well done!

    A perfect presentation
I have learned an enormous amount from this pleasant and thorough podcast. I’m hoping that the series is expanded to include the War of 1812.

    Best Podcast Ever
I have learned so much since I started listening to this. I am doing so in order and started a few weeks ago. I am now up to Episode 130 and it’s riveting. We are lucky to have Michael Troy hosting this podcast. He is a national treasure…

    Great Content
Thank you so much for the great Contant. So many of us studied the revolution in passing in the school and nobody picked up historical nuance in high school. After going through college with very little history, I realized I should’ve been a history major. But that’s ancient history. Now I enjoy all sorts of history, and no pressure to write theses or stay focused on one era. I just finished episode 91 and was surprised by the fact that many states already had constitutions before the US Constitution. I had assumed the states followed. Thanks for your insight and humor as you tell our story. Arlan

    Very thorough and detailed
I have a strong understanding of history but have learned a lot from this podcast Good style and entertaining to listen. Know I’m very late but one correction- Holland is NOT a country, it is a province within The Netherlands

    Excellent Podcast
I’m late to the game and currently playing catch up, but enjoying every single episode. This podcast is well researched and presented in “bite size” segments that make it easy to listen to. Currently on a road trip from Texas back home to NJ and now my wife, who is not into history at all, is listening attentively with me. Keep up the great work!

    Great listen
Does a great job with giving unbiased history without modern reinvention!

    True to the corps!!
Very well narrated and does his very best to give us the most honest podcast on the founding of this country, even though the odds against us at that time were astronomical and there is no way we should have won. He does an excellent job of describing how things were back in those times, and goes on to explain in detail how certain things and verbage were perceived back then when it needs to be addressed! Very well done sir!

    Thoroughly Researched and Well Delivered
The podcast took 100 episodes to make it to the Declaration of Independence. I didn’t mind so much because he was being thorough. I was excited when it came time to cover the Battle of Brooklyn to hear his coverage of the Maryland 400. The engagement was epic. He literally didn’t even mention them, just hinting at the engagement. I was really deflated and hope one day he covers them better. The City of Brooklyn to this day honors them annually. But I have continued to listen and he has really grown as a podcaster, and has filled out his show with some nice extras. He continues to be very thorough and detailed while keeping the episodes interesting and a manageable length. I like that he also publishes the transcript at the same time the episode is released. I find it helpful to follow along and keep my focus. He includes a few images as well. In fact, the podcast has become so good that I recently became a Patreon. He has started doing this full-time, and in my small way I wanted to support that. The flag magnets are a nice Thank You Gift, with the first one I received being the same flag that is on my favorite hat. EDIT: I wanted to raise my rating to reflect his growth, and to remove some criticism that has been addressed. Also, I wanted to counter the review recently of a self-righteous blowhard who criticized one paragraph of his second episode and wrote a ridiculous 1* review. Best Wishes, Mike!

    Special episodes
I really look forward to new episodes but I get disappointed when I realize the next episode is a discussion with a guest. I was addicted but not as much now due to the increasing number of special episodes.

    Love It!
Relatively new to this. I wasn’t much of a student in high school or college and didn’t become interested in American history until my adult years. Having grown up in Massachusetts I visited most of the Revolution sites as a child. After taking my daughters there a couple of years ago I found myself fascinated. The more I read and listen to podcasts like this the more I appreciate what really happened, how difficult it was, and how many times it almost didn’t happen. Given our current political climate I wish all Americans would listen to these. Thank you!

    Fact or Opinion?
Stating that indentured servants had a harder time than slaves was a weird choice that I’m not sure is rooted in any particular fact. Stating that slavery was a life sentence as property to slaves and their children while minimizing their struggles is tone deaf and calling them “blacks” is loaded with derogatory undertones.

    Wow! Very enjoyable deep dive
You may think you know all you need to know about the American Revolution, and they Michael shows you all these wonderful nooks and crannies that bring the Revolution to life. The shows are very easy to listen to, with each episode exploring side stories that help you visualize the entirety of the conflict. Each episode focuses on the story - in fact, I don’t think Michael ever even introduces himself but dives right in from the very beginning. Realizing that he has been doing this every week for several years - and going out of his way to assure his listeners can freely consume his labors - makes me really appreciate the work that went into this.

So good, fun and amazingly informative. Can’t get enough. Well done, Michael!

    The best
I’ll be honest, this is all I listen to now. When I finish I start over. This the area of history I am obsessed with and this is the podcast concerning the subject matter. The only thing even resembling a complaint is that he talks slow, so I speed it up to 1.25 and problem solved. I learn something every episode. Thank you for making this!!

I love the detail. Each episode is coherent. Pretty balanced approach although he obviously lives the American point of view. Keep up the terrific work.

    One of the Best
This podcast is incredibly well-researched and in-depth, but still accessible and engaging. I started late but am quickly catching up and am already excited to listen to some episodes again. Mr Troy - thank you! Your passion and dedication to this podcast and American history is infectious and inspiring!

    Well researched yet interesting anecdotes
Having graduated with a degree in History and studying American wars and battles, one can often find podcasts such as this either lullabies or totally off-base with ridiculous revisionist claims. Michal Troy, however, does his research to get it right , corrects the few errors he makes while publicly acknowledging the people who provide the correct information, and still wraps the narrative up like a wonderful tale. I look forward to each episode as I still can learn something every time. And if you do subscribe, consider a donation to the cause of you can (not mandatory) to keep Mr. Troy able to continue to source the material needed to fuel this magnificent project.

Totally relevant to what is happening today
If you think the government is over reaching and you are over taxed right now, this is the podcast for you. It happened before and it’s happening again right now. The rights of the people are being overshadowed by big government, and the representatives that should be speaking on our behalf, have only their best interest in mind. This is absolutely the best podcast I have listened to and absolutely addictive. Great job!!!

    Very well researched and fascinating
A great podcast! I listened to it as a companion to my US history class. I really appreciated the objectivity of the author. The podcast is well researched and the author is very thorough. A must listen to anyone who is looking for an unbiased, historically accurate review of this time period of American history.

    Complete. Accurate. Needed!
This is a super detailed podcast that covers not only the “known” people, but lesser known ones too. The amount of research that is done is amazing. Thanks for all you do!

By far, the best. Thank you for the work you do.

    Great podcast
I stumbled on this podcast a bit by accident & I’m glad I did. Mr. Troy has done a great job so far (I’m only on Episode 93). His coverage of the events leading up to the war was very informative & I learned a lot even though I’ve “studied” the period before. His balancing of the battles with the political aspects is also very well done. I especially like the Book & On-Line Recommendations that follow the show. Please keep up the great work!

Day to day detail of the war
I wish I’d had Mike when I was taking history in college and in high school. Just so much more interesting to hear about it from day to day and more realistic views of the people involved.
