Careers #170

*Ranked a "2019 Top Podcast* This is a podcast that brings transparency to top performers, careers, and topics. My name is Hasard Lee. I'm an active F-35 fighter pilot for the Air Force. One of the most important lessons I've learned is that you have to be selective with who you listen to--there's a lot of noise out there. The goal of this podcast is to find experts who are at the top of their field to share their insights based on credibility and experience. About the Host:"Major Lee has 9 years of experience flying both the F-16 and F-35. In 2016, he was selected as the 'Top Instructor Pilot of the Year' for the Air Force's largest F-16 Combat Wing. In 2017, he returned from Afghanistan where his squadron dropped the most ordnance since the opening days of the war. He's flown 82 combat missions and has 4 Air Medals."

    AWESOME!!! LOVE JOHN “BRICK” CALDWELL
I met Brick at my brother’s retirement. He spoke, but I was captivated by his knowledge as well as his down to earth kindness. GO USAF! Tara, Vader’s sis

    Constantly Interested
I’ve been listening to Hasard for quite some time after discovering his podcast thru a plug on Fighter Pilot Podcast and I have to say it’s one of my favorites. I recently listened to his podcast with Terry Virts and I was left wanting more so I picked up Terry’s book almost immediately after the podcast was over. Seriously, you would think Justin has been doing interviews for 10+ years, he’s almost got that Howard Stern gift lol. He can reference and compare almost all subjects with aviation and it never sounds forced... even his interview with Nick English (co-founder of Bremont watches) about watches and their connection to aviation was clever and down right interesting. He picks some really great people to talk to and I think all his listeners appreciate that. Keep up the good work Hasard. Cheers.

    Great Leadership Nuggets
I have recently discovered Hasard’s podcast work. I have listened to the episode with Charlie Plumb, the fighter pilot and former POW. Also, to the interview with Dr. Daniel Kraft and the founder of ForeFlight Tyson Weihs. His most recent with Safi Bahcall author of Loonshots was another gem. Each one has its own message on leadership, innovation and thought leadership. Good stuff! Keep up the good work!

Hasard has a simple yet articulate approach that results in a dynamic conversation and interview with his guests. Professional’s Playbook is top notch. I am excited for each new episode.

Hazard continues to deliver episode after episode. The guest list is always incredible and captivating, showcasing some of the most driven, talented, and intelligent men and women in the world. I was originally tuned on to it because of a passion for aviation, but it’s so much more. Thank you for your service, can’t wait for the next one. -Nick B. STL MO

    Worth the Time
Major (LtCol??) Lee has a good thing going here. This cast is not for the faint hearted. All the folks we meet here are (Plame excepted) the captains of their destiny and masters of their fate.

Exactly the type of podcast I need at this stage in my life.
Hi Justin, I love the show, this is a really interesting blend of military aviation and peak performance. I’ll be listening to everything you put out. I really enjoy the conversations and hearing about the field I will be going into. Just listened to the Charlie Plumb one, and that was absolutely outstanding. Thanks so much. Chris.

The title of this cast actually means something!
Justin is an amazing host, he leads an intriguing life as fighter-pilot and he is understandably reserved about sharing the details of his personal life. I truly respect and admire how someone so intelligent and accomplished can have such humility. His questions are always thoughtful and well constructed. You don’t have to be an AvGeek or a military personnel to enjoy and appreciate this podcast. If you want to listen to geniuses, innovators and top CEO’s talk about what they do to stay on top, you should be listening to The Professionals Playbook. PS I would love to win that F35 patch 🙏 one day ig: jummso

    Real life super hero’s
I’m just impressed with all the inside information. I find it fascinating. It’s just remarkable what you guys and girls do for the country! I’m constantly getting my 2 yr old daughter to listen in with me😂. She seems to enjoy it actually. I fly r/c jets and she loves them! I wish I had another way to show my appreciation to all of you for what you do for us everyday, but a thank you is all I can do here. Keep up the good work and be safe🇺🇸💪. THANK YOU!!!!!!!! Ps. It’s saying something to hold the attention of a 2 yr old for more than 30 seconds. That patch would be crazy cool.

If you have a process-oriented brain that thrives on efficiency, drive, grit, and innovation, this is the podcast for you. The pacing is like butter, and guests come across comfortable, open, and resonant. Each episode gets better with repetition; great conversation-starter amongst my flight school friends all the way up to the most seasoned CFIs. Fav episode: #7! There’s truly something for everyone.

    Fantastically executed, motivationally propagated
When I started listening to this podcast it was because a friend of mine had recommended it to me. I was, and still am, a loaded, stressed out and confused AFROTC Cadet, shout out to (DET 002), and college student, managing my chaotic schedule and plowing through, indefatigably, toward my goal of becoming an officer in the greatest Airforce in the world and one day a fighter pilot. This noted stress and chaos has been mitigated, calmed, managed, and advised through this killer podcast put on by Hazard Lee. His ability to get successful, knowledgeable and wisdom filled interviewees to spill their secrets to success and advice, has been instrumental in my ability to succeed and maintain the right mindset, work ethic, and drive, even when the you know what hits the fan. Maj. Lee’s podcast is fantastic. Would 100% recommend, even if aspiring to be an officer or aviator is not your cup of tea, the wisdom shared is valuable regardless. Give it a look. If you have to start somewhere I recommend the first introduction episode followed by the episode with Thunderbird 1, John “Brick” Caldwell. P.S. Hazard, please interview Andrew “dojo” Olson, just got to meet him and he was the epitome of awesomeness, humility, and approachability all in one. Seriously though, give this podcast a chance.

    Lots of great information
We all tend to take for granted how all the things around us work. The military, aircraft, racing. But there’s a lot that goes on in the background to make all that happen. Cool to hear their perspectives

    Extremely Interesting
Honestly, I found this podcast incredibly fascinating. Just the way that Terry Virts described his experiences, and how he provides such great amount of information, it just makes the podcast very inspirational. Also big thanks to Justin for his podcasts that are always a great way to explore different careers and jobs within military and governmental operations involved with science and tech events. I have always wanted to be a fighter pilot, and listening to these podcasts really strengthen my passion, since as I’ve always found that the educational system really rips my passion away sometimes. So these podcasts are always a great source of support and inspiration.

    Outstanding!
Justin’s podcast album is one that embodies Jobs that matter: swat, astronaut, fighter pilot, etc... The podcasts motivate listeners to strive to reach their goals This is as Justin and his interviewees speak about their own experiences working towards and in their occupations. Truly inspiring. Thank you for your service Justin!

    Valuable
First off thanks to Justin for his service for our country. I am in corporate America and have never served in the military. My father did and thus I was taught a great respect for our men and women who serve. I regularly peruse IG on military pages and found Justin and learned about this podcast. Not only are the episodes fascinating while providing insight into different jobs within military service, but there are great lessons that can be applied across any job. I find inspiration and encouragement for my own field of work having listened to a couple episodes. Thanks Justin!

    Inspiring and driving
As a current ROTC student with dreams to someday fly fighter jets in the United States Air Force these information filled podcasts shed light into what it takes to be a fighter pilot while still giving me the information of what I need to do in order to follow my dreams.
  • NickCheese
Informative with a great atmosphere and great guests!
Episode 3 had me hooked. At the end of these podcasts, I am able to take subjects and life advice and make plans to implement it. It's a self improvement podcast "Trojan Horsed" into a Fighter Pilot's Podcast. I recommend it to people interested in aviation, as it has intensive career paths that require discipline.
  • HPD217
Great podcast with a great subject matter
I found Jason on one of the aviation pages on Instagram and quickly found out that he had this podcast. As others have mentioned it has become one of my favorites. I typically listen while I’m flying as I’m usually stuck in a tin can in the sky a few times a week. The interviewees always have an interesting background and I really like how you can get a glimpse into the mindset of what it takes to become one of the best. I highly recommend this podcast.

    Engaging and informative!
This podcast is a great insight into the various careers that someone interested in the military/LEO path might have. While being engaging and informative, it’s also inspiring to hear what some of these interviewees have accomplished in their colorful careers. Definitely a great listen for whatever it is you’re doing throughout the day.

    You hurt my MAF feelings
Sorry I’m not precise enough to give you the exact second (I fly heavies) but around the 12 min mark, you claim heavy pilots don’t have to be as precise when flying. Well that’s a pretty ignorant philosophy. I’m glad Dr. Davidson was able to save you from looking more misinformed on your podcast. Sincerely, “Heavy” pilot, graduate of “The Elite” USAFWS

    A fighter pilots journey
I’m currently a 17 year old about to graduate from high school and a podcast like this helps encourage my mindset and drives me to be more motivated at what I want to achieve in the Air Force. I plan to enlist as a 2nd lieutenant after complete AFROTC and going on to flight school, then primary, and with the end goal of flying in the EURO NATO JOINT JET PILOT (ENJJPT) training program at Sheppard Air Force base in Texas. My dream jet to fly would def have to be an F-15C due to the sheer power those jets contain with a max speed capability of going over Mach 2 as well as its air to air combat capabilities.
