So many hidden gems. This is a great podcast for those of us who love great lyrics and nice tunes.

Good podcast but could you turn up the volume a bit?

Picked up on REK While working in the little state of Texas a couple years ago, the lyrics the music blew me away. So glad to have a podcast to spread some new to me and probably old to most musicians. The party never ends.

I love the show. Robert does such a good job of bringing out the musicians and their stories, introducing new musicians to my world. The anniversary show was like a personal reminiscence. For me 30 years at Poor David’s Pub, Son’s of Herman Hall, some dive in Arlington, HOB for New Year’s, and the concert at the Arcadia with Robert, Townes, and Guy Clark. Thanks.

I love the interviews and the insight REK brings to the table as no other could. I am an Americana fan with or without the label - songs that tell a story with an “original” voice. Keep it up Robert Earl shoot straight and knock’em down!

This podcast has turned me on to some really cool artists that I wasn’t familiar with and given me a deeper knowledge of the bands I love. More episodes please!

Just listened to a few episodes and I’m hooked. My only complaint is that I wish episodes were more frequent!

I didn’t find REK until later in his career (2009), but since then he’s been the cornerstone of the music I listen to. One of the best parts of finding REK was it led to more and more great artists. I realized that Americana music was now my life’s soundtrack. Now, with the podcast, he’s opened the door to even more music and artists, and expands the knowledge/understanding of what Americana music is, the relationship between the artists and their fans, and the commitment of the artists to their music. The shorter “word on the street” episodes add a nice insiders view of the business component. Highly recommend...

If you’ve seen Robert Earl Keen love you know how personable he is when engaging the audience between songs. He is a born interviewer and appears to love the work. And to Answer the question of the day, Americana in one word is a mutt. Picture a crossroads bar in rural Northern Mississippi. Customers come east from Texas wanting Tejano music or Oklahoma Red Dirt, south from Memphis with the Blues, west from Alabama wanting Hank, Sr., and north from New Orleans wanting Zydeco and Dixieland. The house band really just wants to rock Robert Johnson, but they blend in a little of everything to keep the beer bottles away from the chicken wire. That to me is Americana.

I’ve only been listening to this genre for a few years and there are many artist that fall into it, quite a few I don’t know about. This podcast not only introduces you to some of those artist it also gives you insight into some of there influences. And Robert is a great host who all the guest seem to respect for not only because of his music but also because he seems like a genuinely nice guy.

Mr. Keen adds natural born interviewer to his credits as Poet Laureate of Americana, singer extraordinaire, leader of a fantastic group... the road goes on forever and Mr. Keen’s talents never end. Clara Rose is also excellent. Wow.

Robert has a way of relating to musicians from all genres. Seems like he has always “Been there... Done that “. The interviews are real easy going and not a moment of awkwardness. Keep it Mr. Keen Love it

I love and admire Robert Earl Keen’s music, so I was excited to hear about this podcast. It is excellent, and getting better with each episode. It’s REK just having an honest discussion with other respectable musicians about their careers and the Americana genre. Highly recommended!

It’s like I found my taco meat on heaven’s street! Smoke on the Water and Joy to the World, this will reset the narrative on Americana Music. By the way, the Chinese are concerned. I had to rest my VPN three times to get to the end of the Robison episode! God Bless Americana!

I'm a long-time fan of REK so was attracted initially because of his association with this podcast. But these are great, insightful conversations about music I enjoy. Already I've been exposed to a new artist, and I look forward to more of that. I like the "define the genre" aspect of it--because Americana is a bit perplexing, isn't it? This podcast provides more food for thought, more captivating discussions, and a pathway to more good music.

Robert Earl Keen has been one of my favorite singer songwriters since I was a child. Great to see his intelligence, legacy and talent poured into a podcast.

Just what the Americana movement has been needing. One of its founders taking is on an entertaining journey that I believe will help show the substantial role of this music. Americana Music - music with integrity.

Awesome podcast. I feel like this type of podcast was a long time coming and definitely fills a void for the greater Americana discussion. Very grateful to have this in my rotation. REK has asked the guests of the podcast to describe Americana music. I feel like the podcast fans should do the same in the reviews, so here goes nothing.. Americana music is an original music genre that has a dedicated and driven focus on song writing and can trace its deep roots back to genres of folk, blues, southern rock, and classic/outlaw/alt country.

From being a huge music fan of all the red dirt, Americana, Texas alt country, and all the bands like them and inspired by them, and being a huge fan of the podcast format in general, this is not only the kind of show I always wanted to hear, but it’s hosted by Robert Earl Keen. He would be my top choice for a host. Not only the best storyteller/songwriter out of the groups, but he has been the inspiration to much of the new stuff coming out of this genre. Assuming he has access to all the musicians this is likely my new top podcast I’ll be waiting for. No way could it disappoint, but I’m easy.

This is not just about music. When REK quoted Joseph Campbell in the first episode, it blew me away! Keep up the great work and I will keep on listening!

Incredible. An extremely insightful look into American music

Just finished the first episode and it is exactly what I hoped it would be. Smart, insightful and entertaining. Can’t wait for more.

I downloaded the first two episodes and listened to them already. I would describe the conversations as extraordinarily fresh. There is a level of comfort, respect and trust that the artists have for Robert that just opens up so many doors. The discussions are really open, thoughtful, warm and unique. Before I listened, the thought occured to me that an artist (especially one of Robert's stature) interviewing artists could have some pitfalls but Robert was well prepared, relaxed, curious and totally engaged as were the musicians he interviewed. Awesome stuff!

Right from the start you now this is a project for the artist and the listeners to connect and not a platform for self-promotion. REK guides the conversation but does not dominate. Great Job
