After everyone she's ever known was killed in an alien invasion, Lynn Gellert (Jenny Slate) might be the last person left on Earth. Her constant and only companion is the voice recorder she managed to salvage from her mother's house. As symptoms of a strange illness seem to set in, Lynn comes to terms with her mortality, only to realize that she's not sick, she's pregnant. Lynn is not a survivalist, or even good at camping, but somehow she has to find what it takes to confront a dangerous and uncertain future.Earth Break is written by Morgan Ormond. Starring Jenny Slate. Directed by Aaron Katz. Produced by April Lamb. Associate Produced by Will Rogers. Earth Break is presented by Skylark Media

    Nothing happens
Nothing happens. It was a fine production, definitely high-quality, but nothing happens.

    Amazing!
Very real world, such a good immersive show

    The voice actor is annoying
Storyline is good for such a short series. However it’s get extremely annoying very quickly when all you hear is the main character panting, yelling, cursing, and breathing into the microphone every minute. Then she’ll whisper a few words of each sentence for no reason. It’s very off putting and unfortunate because the show had a lot of potential.

    Awesome awesome. Awesome

    Wow!
I’ve been searching for a good immersive podcast for some time now that can cleverly incorporate its exposition. The recorder technique has been done poorly and a lot. This is very well done.

    Jenny Slate is 🤌🤌🤌
I could listen to Jenny Slate read my grocery list. This podcast— from the writing, production, voice acting— is really, really great.

    Amazing Performance
Jenny Slate delivers a dramatic, emotional performance via audio alone. I cannot recommend it enough.

Seriously the best podcast I’ve ever listened to. Wish there were more!

Don’t get me wrong it’s good
Don’t get me wrong, it’s good.... but it could have been better. The show is short a lot is packed into 5 episodes, but somehow it’s still not nearly enough. The whole story isn’t there. We are missing so many pieces, how did this apocalypse happen? What happened after? What was her life like? What happened to the baby’s father? What was it like surviving with a child? The time jumps are crazy and leave so much unanswered. This would be 5 stars 100% if it wasn’t done so poorly. And I don’t mean the production or acting, I mean the writing and the obvious laziness not to make this a full story and just 5 episodes of snippets of a longer more interesting story.

    Slate is phenomenal
Imagining Jenny acting in this piece blew my mind. She is so incredibly talented. I really enjoyed these episodes and would love to listen to another season.

    Not great
The main character is unbearable. That being said, I’ll still cringe-listen to it to kill time.
  • RugenSee
    Just alright
It is slightly interesting, the sound is either too loud or lost in no specific details as to what is happening. The yelling and screaming is off putting. Not a bad apocalyptic story but it is not made well. All the cussing is really bothersome, authentic for the story but I could not finish.

I need to know what happened next!
Look, Jenny Slate was great, what happens after Robin was born and she killed the alien!? I know they were selling that companion game, but guess what? I don’t care, just tell me what happened to Jenny Slate!
  • VitaRiv
    No good
Story line is stupid. All you hear is this pregnant lady panting and breathing heavy and talking in circles.

    Know What You’re In For
If you’re looking for a classic plot structure, look elsewhere. There’s no Hero’s Journey or anything like that here. That said, I was fascinated by this character in her stressful situation, and I came to know and understand her through the episodes. Her experiences felt real to me and less like a drama, though the other reviewers are spot-on when noting that the swearing feels a bit excessive. The acting and effects were great and I think the ad-lib style added to the realism. The ads are annoying but thankfully skippable.

    Well Done!
Jenny Slate is so good in this! Love to listen and can’t wait for more.

    LOVE!
I actually really loved this podcast. I was weary bc of some of the negative reviews but I was pleasantly surprised by how much I loved it! Its exactly what I would have pictured for an average relatable person just trying to survive at the end of the world. Hope theres a season 2!

Podcast and boxed ARG are both TERRIBLE
Scam to sell boring rip off of an ARG.

    Not for the faint hearted
First, let me say that swearing is a personal choice. I happen to like it very much but if it’s not for you its all good. I liked the pace of this story and it certainly kept my interest. Some reviewers could not get over the swearing which is a shame because this is an original well scripted story that keeps you going until the end.

    Great acting?!
I’ve heard plenty of people sing this “actress’s” praises but honestly, it’s just a lot of huffing, puffing, gulping, and cursing. Literally, how many times can a person say f*c*?! Blech. Plz don’t waste your time on this.

Nothing happens, and there’s no reason to care
If you like listening to someone narrate their rummaging through drawers and eating snacks, punctuated with plenty of grunting and panting, then this is the podcast for you. Nothing happens in the story except for her wandering around and whining about her predicament, and there’s no character development or backstory to make you care about her or her baby. I made it through 3.5 episodes before I just couldn’t do it anymore. I don’t understand how this has 4.5 stars except that people must be hard up for dramatic podcasts.

    Unbelievably good
One of the most stunningly effective podcast audio dramas I’ve ever heard (take that with whatever grain of salt you want, I guess, but I’m kind of an addict). There is real feeling here, and a woman’s psyche rendered in detail, with believability and compassion. It’s deftly produced, and perfectly acted. I desperately wish for more from whoever made this happen. I think about this story all the time.

    Meh
Great acting, good sound effects and quality. But wow! What a terrible and abrupt ending! Not to mention the spam of the subscription box to continue the story which doesn’t sound like it links to this one at all. 5 stars for the acting, sound quality, sound effects and story line. 2 stars for the ending and 1 star for the subscription box to continue. If you don’t like cliffhangers I advise you not to listen. 3 stars overall.

    ?
Main character clearly has talent but what’s the story? This drags on. Relies too much and heavily on profanity. Feels ad-libbed. Wish the actor would’ve been given better material to work with.

    Mic Stuff
The podcast might not be amazing but the people commenting on mic and audio issues don’t get that it’s added on purpose for effect and that part is actually well done lol.
  • Kikonoc
    Meh
Story was ok and had lots of potential but there was way too much screaming and panting and cursing directly into the mic. Lots of banging the mic around too—it’s supposed to be an amateur recording, I get it—but stop hitting me over the head with it. Got kind of tedious after a while. I would not want to be the last person on the planet with this person.

Acting - Yes. Concept - nowhere to be found
The only character in this 1-person podcast is a great actress. The audio effects are great. But there is no storyline at all. This podcast has nothing to do with survivial at all. Just some crazy girl running around all over the place. I'm surprised she survied a single day in this strange earth she now lives in. She needs psychological help. The podcast has no story line. Where did it come from? Where's it going? Nothing. You, the listener, are just thrust right into a story knowing nothing and left with knowing nothing other than this characher is crazy and had a baby.
  • CCL Rachel
    She’s in my brain...and I love it!!!!!
I love this completely realistic character. She reminds me of me when I’m alone and talking to myself (and OK, sometimes I do that when there are people around!)—only her circumstances are way more dire! Yet she’s relatable even when screaming at evil aliens! This is contemporary dystopian podcast drama at its finest.

    Unfortunate Sales Pitch
Really great acting with super unfortunate material. It’s hard to describe the many bad ways this show left me feeling. Pregnancy Problems trope maybe being the worst? But also it’s not really an Audio Drama, it’s an extended advertisement. The acting is very appealing though and I’d love to have had better material & story to go with it. Is there really an audience for listening to women suffer like this? Should there be that audience? I find it deeply gross.

Lobe the pod; hate the ads
I absolutely love this podcast. Jenny Slate does wonderfully and her acting really immersed me in the world. The story was interesting and moving. My only problem was the excessive ads (why are there three in a 20 minute episode?!) and the blatant pushing of their other product. I was brought out of the story by the ads in the middle. Worth the listen, but I’m a little disappointed.

    So good
Seriously so good! I really hope there is more of Lynn and robin. Please dont let this be the end of the story!

    Heartbreaking and Raw.
Actor (Slate) provides a phenomenal performance in a world desolate due to an invasion. Her performance is sometimes humorous but often emotional and raw; not for the faint of heart.
  • CamaroGirl
    Great acting & premise
The character is great - I laughed out loud sometimes! The writing was good, too. My only complaint is that it was a bit short &ended abruptly. Hoping for more!

    Meh
A lot of screaming and moaning and grunting. Not much plot. A few minutes of sobbing. Waste of time. I don’t know it got so many good reviews.
  • Graco4wj
    Amazing
I enjoyed this from start to finish! The only complaint I had was the constant advert to buy the accompanying game to find out anything else. I get it, but by the end felt like a long commercial. Otherwise-I enjoyed the story. By episode three I felt lonely and afraid. Great listen, great actress!

    Best fiction podcast
Gripping, brilliant acting and intense. I screamed so many times listening to this. I’ve listened to a number of fiction podcasts and this is my favorite so far.

This is how I discovered Jenny slate and omg I can’t believe I haven’t been following her career. New bar for fictional storytelling. Amazing.

Love the show. The acting and sound effects are superb. I look forward to the coming shows.

I want to hear more! ❤️❤️
If possible can you guys continue the series??
  • Erinbangify
    Grunt grunt, swear swear
I love Jenny slate but this is just beyond obnoxious and there is way to much unnecessary sounds happening. She is constantly out of breath and grunting and sucking in her teeth. Plus it’s just not realistic and you can’t relate with the character at all. There’s also nothing that really happens. Overall, no.
