    Super awkward ads
I don’t mind ads usually, but these are placed in the show so awkwardly. They cut off dialogue and when the ad is over, you can tell that you definitely missed something. It’s a little maddening, because I feel this is something that can be easily remedied. Fix it!
  • Annoying voice advertising
Annoying advertisement I couldn’t get past
The content was good, but after about 3 episodes in I could not get past the “Simply Safe” advertisements..they were constant and very annoying. The lady speaking in the advertisement was like nails on a chalkboard. I had to quit listening.

    Man in the window
This was done so well. I am from Visalia. I was in high school at Mt Whitney when the Visalia ransacker was breaking into young girls homes . It was very frightening. It is so scary how small the world is and who you may come in contact with at any time. I recommend listening to this podcast if you haven’t yet. Teri M

    Great podcast
One of the best podcast I’ve listen to in a while, they really get down to every single little grain when explaining the “Vansalia ransacker, The east area rapist, The Golden State Killer.” They really explain how everything goes on and all the crimes he has committed, and they explain how Bonnie felt during the trials. I don’t recommend this podcast to sensitive listeners who cry, get nauseous very easy, but every one else…. HAVE AT IT!!!!!!

    Quality
The only four boxes any true crime needs to tick - Great reporting, excellent editing, quality production, and a scary story. This podcast ticks all boxes.

    Great Podcast, Awful Ad Timing
I enjoyed listening to the podcast - great delivery and fact-based and no personal opinions by the narrator. The only thing I didn’t really like is the way ads would just randomly and suddenly play mid-sentece. It ruins the train of thought and sometimes the intensity. You’re too engaged in the story then all of a sudden Simply Safe lady would talk. I wish they’d time it properly, quite honestly, it’s kind of disrespectful to the victims.

    Great Podcast
This is a very well done podcast and I recommend it frequently to people. My only complaint is the whispering in the final episode. For whatever reason it throws me off and I usually just skip the episode.

    Text book
Great job this case is a horrid heinous offender the coverage kept viewers alert to the creepy stuff vile serial killers all partake to most coverage isn’t in such flagrant offender that still credits this coverage which factual covers the case note detail killers have been shown in false terms other times which caused a few perverted persons to have a infamous story when it’s a deviancal story a vicious vile so outside our own narrative that many stories here this pattern an we would all kno to watch out and execute these abnormal persons not what we have as a country come to due to all the lack of factual depictions

    Fantastic
I’ve listened to virtually every true crime podcast there is and this is top 5 for me.

    10/10
Definitely the best podcast I’ve ever listened to.

    Amazing and scary!!
I listened then told all my friends to listen. So scary. I wanted all to be aware of what’s out there. She did an amazing job narrating.

    Ads are awful
The way the ads cut in with no bumper is so jarring and frankly rude. You interrupt a rape victims story with an ad.

    Great show!
This show is a 10 star show if I could give it. The level of incompetence by some of the law enforcement agencies & officers that investigated this case 40 years ago is baffling, infuriating and defies logic. If these guys had stopped pandering to politicians and bringing their egos to work some of these victims could have been saved.

    Well produced and interesting
This podcast is very well done, good narrator, an interesting story, and avoids the unnecessary injections of wokeness that infect too many other podcasts. They also avoid the gratuitous displays of emotion (long clips of people sobbing into the microphone) that many other journalists become aroused by. I enjoyed it.

    Excellent
I thought I knew about the Golden State Killer. This Podcast proved I knew very little. Excellent delivery, format, information and background. Deepens appreciation for the dogged ones who refused to give up the hunt and went to lengths seen in fiction to finally find and capture the GSK.

A different side than you’ve ever heard
If you’re a true crime person you think you’ve heard it all about GSK. You haven’t. This podcast is captivating. I found myself listening to episodes a second time before even listening to a subsequent episode. This isn’t a story about him it’s a story about them. A story about his victims and the people who thought they knew him and how they were, in some ways, victims in their own right.

    Fascinating but triggering
I love true crime, I can even fall asleep to it. Not this podcast. As a woman it brought me right back to remembering the man trying to pry the screen off my window and I can only imagine how he would’ve escalated if it weren’t for modern security systems and cameras. The episodes have me on edge in a way I hope none of you know. I don’t think I can continue to listen but just know.. it’s well done. Just makes me have flashbacks bc of how they describe exactly what the surviving victims saw

    More Than Worth the Time!
The reporting and writing by Ms. St. John are indeed Pulitzer Prize level journalism. The first few episodes are difficult to hear; they depict the ignorance of our 70’s culture towards rape, the deep flaws of chauvinism and egotism of the police, and especially the stratification of our society towards crime and the political motivations of Sherrif’s running for office. But stick this thing out. You will learn much more than you ever expected. This podcast is exceptional because it reveals the nature of how far we as society have progressed, but more importantly, what still needs to be fixed. Thank you Ms. St. John for your incredible hard work and determination to bring this to be available to the general public.

Wonderful coverage of this case and the victims.
I have followed this case for perhaps five years. This was a very insightful perspective on the case with fascinating information from the victims. Well done.

    Great podcast!
I’ve watched all the documentaries on this case, and I find this podcast better. Well done 💯
  • Meganm007
    This was terrifying…
Took place in my home county. So crazy. This podcast is very well done.
  • MLL1977
    Remarkable
A phenomenally well-done podcast. The research, personal stories, and red flags that should have been seen by so many people make this a must listen. St. John brings the listeners on a heartbreaking story of this horrible human being and the triumph of the human spirit and that of a community. I had chills multiple times and anger gripped me more often than not, but the story is unbelievably incredible and I couldn’t turn my ear away.

    Good Storytelling
I thought this was really well done. Carefully told, just the right amount of detail, thoughtfully laid out. My one suggestion is to adjust ratio of narration to interview. For me, the storytelling relies too much on interview and the poor sound quality of those parts really reduces quality of the whole.

Love this Podcast, but episode 10 won’t play!
I’m a huge fan of everything true crime! This podcast definitely won’t disappoint if you’re a truce crime lover. Very well detailed about the attacks but not dramatically over done. Would have given 5 stars but the last episode isn’t playing! Saying it’s currently unavailable. Talk about a cliff hanger.
  • WTWIV
    My favorite “true crime” podcast
I think I’ve listened to this series half a dozen times now. I just love the way the story is told structurally and often in a very cinematic fashion, but not overly dramatic or exaggerated. It maintains a careful suspense throughout and goes through all of the details chronologically. I wish the narrator did more podcasts.

    Fantastic!
I just finished listening to all episodes. I’ve been fascinated by this story since I first became aware of it. I’ve watched documentaries and news specials about the Golden State Killer. I have learned so much new information about this case after listening to this Podcast. Foremost the victims, all of them! and the horrors they still endure. They are my heroes. Thank you again for doing this Podcast.

My number one favorite podcast of all time
Was already familiar with the story, but wow, could NOT QUIT listening. Hands down best podcast.

    Fantastic!
I must say, I love true crime shows and this podcast was fantastic. The story itself was horrifying, but intertwining the narration with the interviews with the victims and law enforcement made it so much more engaging. A terrific piece of journalism!

    Wow, just wow
Very thorough, so much respect for the man victims. Very well explained and gives you an upfront view.

    Superb podcast
Incredibly thorough, never exploitive, never biased. Showed real respect for the victims and the truth.
  • Banana350
    Definitely one of my favorites!
This podcast was narrated beautifully and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time. Each episode is full of a new shocking chapter to the event. Great podcast, definitely recommend’

    More good journalism
I’m surprised that something out of CA isn’t biased, but they just keep knocking it out of the park!
  • Raunchoochoo
Five star podcast, too many ads
This podcast is incredible but there’s advertisements every ten or fifteen minutes, they constantly break your immersion in the otherwise engaging story and honestly is very disrespectful to the victims. True crime is already an exploitative genre, but constantly interrupting the story and reminding us that they’re profiting off the trauma and horror the victims experienced takes it to a new level I have not yet experienced with any other true crime podcast.
  • Dustizzles
    All time favorite!
One of my most favorite podcasts ever! I could not stop listening. Absolutely blows my mind how long it took for this man to be caught. I was captivated throughout the series.
  • natdel82
    Not so much.
The jazz playing in the background is distracting and disrespectful to the victims. Does not match with the story.

    Man in the Window
This podcast is extraordinarily well done and sensitively reported. Kudos to Paige St John and her producers!

    Excellent podcast
I just finished binging this, the storytelling was superb and the journalist’s investigation was very thorough. I haven’t binged a podcast in quite some time, but this one was so enthralling that I couldn’t stop. Can’t believe I never heard of those attacks here in the Midwest. Shocked to hear how rape was handled (or not handled, I should say) in the 70’s. Just horrible!
  • Elleapeagee
    Absolutely riveting.
Definitely worth the binge listening. I was enthralled. The research, writing and presentation of the story are excellent. Bravo to the writers, producers and to Paige for excellent work.

    Man in the window
Absolutely captivating! One of the best deep dives into The Golden State Killer!

Fantastic exploration of the era as well as the crimes
This podcast does an amazing job of providing a broad picture of the era these crimes were committed in as well as how they impacted the victims and their communities. You’re not going to get a timeline or breakdown of the crimes (try Casefile if you’d like a well-researched look at the crimes), but instead will hear from the victims and investigators regarding their thoughts and feelings. I found the information on how pornography and feminism were blamed fascinating.
  • Dakota Castio
    Stunningly executed
This podcast is more than amazing. Spectacular research, story telling, and imagery. I've watched a ha full of documentaries on this man and none of them scratch the surface of what this podcast covers. It's so hauntingly good that I had nightmares. I told my husband to listen because I thought it was amazing and he had nightmares. True crime is sensationalized frequently, but this took a raw, real, human approach to the cases.

    Highly recommend.

    Thank you
Thank you for this podcast and in particular your exploration of the language of rape. You did such a fine job exploring the many grey aspects of perpetration, victimization, and surviving. So often we want to wrap crime and trauma up into tidy boxes, when the dynamics of power and control are a complicated diathesis of many intersecting factors, horrific and damaging to everyone involved.

    Excellent Series!
This series is excellent! Well researched and very interesting. One of the best I have heard on the Golden State Killer. It was very interesting and well done.

    Man in the Window
Excellent podcast that brings all the various groups of cases together. I love how the timeline is explained and how they brought all the pieces together.
  • Jmk712
    Well done
Really well researched and very captivating. But the ads are ridiculous, way too many ads in a 45 minute podcast.
