    Food insecurity & race
I appreciate episode 5 that addresses food insecurity and social determinants of health, however race wasn’t mentioned once and you can’t talk about these issues without also discussing the structural racism that is the root cause of food insecurity.

    Great Listen
Alan’s fierce disdain for silly diets and poorly formulated nutrition beliefs is only second in magnitude to his outrage at the neoliberal doctrine that exacerbates the nutritional and health divide. Love it. As an aside, I was led here by the Barbell Medicine Podcast.

Impatiently awaiting the second season. Important to note, that I didn’t listen to this seeing all doom and gloom. It was an honest dialogue to listen to. Realistic and thought provoking.

    Interesting but stop interrupting
I cringe every time they interrupt. Hard to listen to

    Finally some good info
I’m so glad I finally found a podcast with some objective information! These two gentlemen are humble, clearly know their stuff, and I’m looking forward to starting season two. Thank you!

    Incredible
I absolutely adore this podcast, the hosts, and the message. I’m a dietitian and cancer nutrition specialist in the States. The information is so incredibly well-researched and a joy to listen to!
  • rachconverselyok
    Refreshing.
I am a dietetics student and this podcast is such a breathe of fresh air amidst the cloud of misinformation surrounding the science of nutrition. Bravo!

    Leavin Alan a hug 🤗
Love the banter between the doc & the nutritionist...no fads, just facts! Love the real talk about nutrition & health in the face of all the “pendulum swings” that happen in the health & wellness wheel house. As a certified integrated health nutrition coach (I even found issue with the program that certified me as they seem to perpetuate some of the very issues I want to dispel) who advocates for #haes, women’s issues and walking away from diet-culture, I have a new go-to podcast for authentic information around food & nutrition! Hope you’ll return for season 2 soon!

    A Breath of Fresh Air
I wish this podcast had been around when I was working on my master’s in nutrition. The nutrition podcast we all needed. Can’t wait for season 2!
  • ColeTooSwole
    Amazing content
Great resource as I begin reading more literature in nutrition
  • summer1288
    Very impressed
I’m a registered dietitian from the US and thoroughly enjoyed this evidenced-based content and your viewpoints. Well done! Will be anxiously anticipating season 2!
  • Holmteam
Thanks for such an informative show
Just a non industry listener here. Thanks so much for explaining terms and acronyms. I’m learning so much and perfecting my “critical” eye towards all the information/misinformation out there
  • Virginia_in_nola
    Love the podcast!!!
I love the nuanced discussion between the two hosts. It’s very apparent that they are aware of all the factors behind the topics they have discussed in season one and have thoughtfully laid out the order of shows for the season to address extremely important topics. I cannot wait for Season 2.

Episode 3 is so eye opening.

    Highly recommend
Really enjoyed - can’t wait for the second season!
  • Dee_RD
    Helpful
Episode 3 is amazing. The talk about identity and nutrition is so important. The idea that diet bias should be disclosed in research is brilliant. This podcast is helpful for me as a Dietitian and keeping my critical thinking skills sharp.
  • Bre Zebrowski
    Finally some unbiased information
I am a dietitian in the US and I LOVE this podcast. I have followed Joshua Wolrich on Instagram for a while now and like a lot of the other information he posts, this podcast is a breath of fresh of air. The information is factual, and they both make a point to admit to their own potential biases. I feel like nutrition in the media has leaned into a alarming rhetoric that instills fear in the public and I can’t appreciate enough the valuable, sound information you guys give. With that, this podcast is definitely geared more towards those with a background in research and for those in healthcare. Can’t wait for season 2!

    Thank you for this
I got into health and nutrition podcasts about 2 months ago and got really sucked in. It’s a fascinating subject and a lot of people are cashing in on people’s interest. Unfortunately, it seems a lot of people are cashing in irresponsibly and unprofessionally. I started growing tired of listening to all the major casts promoting the same trends and diet fads and wanted to find more evidence and research-based nutrition content. I found Food for Fitness and really enjoyed that pod, especially the episode Wolrich was featured in. Then I found this pod yesterday and I listened through every episode in one day at work. I really appreciate this content and your efforts to bring reason, facts, and evidence back into all the nutrition craze and hysteria. I’ll be listening to everything you guys put out, please continue making this content! Also, if you have any recommendations for good books to read, science and evidence-based nutrition, I’d love some recommendations

    Best ever!
This is such an amazing podcast! The match up between both presenters and their respective professions is perfect. I am completely geeking out and hope this podcast is around d for a long time!!
  • Dr. Grande Juevos
    Thank you!!
First off, Alan is absolutely brilliant when it comes to nutrition! It is so refreshing to hear someone speak who understands how to decipher nutrition research. Don’t worry Dr. Wolrich, I have complements for you too! Between listening to you on the podcast and going through your Instagram, I have a much better understanding of the detriments of weight stigma. Finally, both of you have made me change my view on nutritional privilege. Season 2 can’t come fast enough! Thank you both for putting out QUALITY information and not fear-mongering to make a quick buck!
  • Cai-ho
Can’t wait for the next season.
I love this podcast. I am not a healthcare professional in any sense but these two really clarify the dogmatic and misinformed attitudes pervasive in influencer propelled narratives around nutrition. Non-judgemental, not fatphobic/steeped in diet culture, socially conscious. Big ups from me for that! Also so informative on how to best apply a critical mind to the information and studies flagrantly waved around regarding nutritional trends, even if you don’t work in healthcare. Clear headed and evidence based on what is clearly a still developing science. Plus hosts that are easy on the ears. Thanks y’all. Looking forward to more.

    Dietitian Approved
THANK YOU! This podcast gives incredible insight to the complicated world of nutrition and how to have an educated conversation about it in the healthcare setting. As a registered dietitian, I wish ALL healthcare providers would listen to this as people typically get their nutrition advice from anyone else before finding their way to a dietitian or other nutrition professional. Thank you for the unbiased, evidence based information given in this podcast.
  • UMDchica
    Truly Excellent
Wonderfully, well-rounded standpoints. Very refreshing to hear them cut through the crap and also address the problem of narrow-minded thinking. Easily my favorite podcast right now. Give it a listen, you will NOT be disappointed.
  • moni_marie
    Thank you
I’ve never heard conversations about nutrition in this way, and this podcast is making an impact in the way that I am approaching my conversations about nutrition. Thank you for sharing your wisdom and knowledge. Thank you for tackling issues that are both complex and controversial. Thank you for making a difference. Thank you. Thank you. Thank you.
  • WholeJess
    Refreshing
After nearly 2 decades trapped in diet culture, it’s refreshing to hear a non-diet approach to nutrition.
  • Sami326
    Necessary and NEEDED
I cannot speak more highly of this podcast. Alan and Joshua are bringing up incredibly important and critical topics to the surface when it comes to nutrition and health that the majority of our society hasn't grasped yet. From weight stigma to acknowledging food and exercise are not the end-all be-all of health, they're myth busting with informaton and facts. As two men coming from privilege they're quick to acknowledge what they can speak on and what they can't while acknowledging what really exists for others less privileged. A wonderfully refreshing and needed message in this space. Can't wait for season two - keep up the brilliant work!!
  • MJ no diets ever again
    Culturally sensitive; great info
Thank you for making us privileged healthcare workers more aware of the biases we have. This is important work. As is the science based information that you are putting out. As a US dietitian I thank you.
  • Muuuuu777777
    Learning a lot!
I have a non-medical and non-nutrition background but the topics discussed are easy to understand and are very informative.
  • creeeerejjj
    FINALLY
Where has this podcast been? I don’t even care because it’s here now having one of the most needed conversations out there. Food impacts everyone and diet culture does too. These podcasts go beyond criticism and pull out the real issues underpinning food misinformation AND food inequality. Oh and health misinformation and inequality. All I can say is thank you to its creators and to listeners, grab a pen and notebook.
  • Garnet6106
    Awesome content
Very thought-provoking info pertaining to nutrition.
  • JR_Albers
One of the most important podcasts for all health professionals.
Pre-med student here who recently finished my master’s in human nutrition at a very well known university. These guys hit everything on the head and provide absolutely essential information needed to discuss nutrition. I’d love to hear some advice on how to collect, organize, and review the large number of papers needed to have these discussions - I find myself chunking Info as “I read this one good study that said this one thing.” Also, I do have some minor contentions on a few points points being made by our hosts that I’m sure others will have - I think it would add to healthy discussion. You should consider having some sort of platform to address these types of questions as you both seem fit.

    IMPORTANT
This podcast is bringing forward important information and unpacking myths that people need to understand about the impact of nutrition on health.
  • Headshow
    Real talk
    Actionable information sharing.
  • T-Bone Hicks
    Still hopeful
I feel like I'm learning a TON about the controversy surrounding nutrition and next to nothing about nutrition. I'll keep listening in case we get there!
  • Dr. Ehle
    Incredibly Informative
I’ve always been very interested in health and nutrition and have spent a lot of time wondering about some claims being made in the healthy living blogosphere. I have a PhD in Chemistry, and have experience in how pre clinical and clinical trials work. I can read medical research. So I knew better than to believe that most of these claims are bogus, I just didn’t have the full nutritional background to understand the nuances. THANK YOU for such an incredibly informative resource. I just finished episode 2 and got so excited to have the science broken down like it an understandable way, but also proving why you can’t have the Average Joe (or Average MD) read an abstract and make simple conclusions.
  • lexras
    Awesome Work
This has been great for me as I learn to unlearn my previous view points that I naturally lean back on - learning that food isn’t medicine and that it is a HUGE privilege to be able to eat healthily and meal prep every week. Love what you guys are doing (from someone currently studying nutrition and wanting to apply to medical school)
  • Danaogan
    Mostly good stuff.
I’ve listened to the first two episodes. First off, I love following Josh on IG and think he has a great message to share from such an interesting perspective. These two share a lot about what’s wrong with diet culture today which is spot on, however, I really think they missed the mark with over emphasizing that nutrition basically has zero effect on health outcomes (since we know diet, among other factors, contributes to many of the leading causes of death). I don’t think this is necessarily their exact opinion but the podcast makes it seem like it is. As a HAES registered dietitian myself, I still value their opinions and look forward to them dissecting more research, but perhaps they can lean away from making nutrition and food seem like the enemy.
  • AnsleyEats
The only podcast review I’ve ever written
Don’t even worry about the bad reviews on this podcast. Those folks are just working through some personal stuff but will inevitably reach the only truly viable conclusion: this podcast is FIRE. If you’re a nutrition professional — whether you agree with the stated opinions or not — these are important topics that NEED to be discussed and you NEED to be part of this conversation. Also, the hosts are brilliant and their accents make it all that much more enjoyable (shameless American here). Do yourself a favor— listen.
  • Lottie498
    Superb
As both someone recovering and working through years of eating disorder history, as well as a biology student with a statistical background, the intellectual vigour and simultaneous sensitivity in this podcast blew me away (unfortunately a rare combination!). Look elsewhere if you want cliché platitudes; listen on for intelligent, thoughtful nuance. Can’t wait for more!
  • Taybear 201518
    A Long Time Waiting
I could listen to these two talk about these topics all day, every day. They're doing the world a service by supplying informative and intelligent conversation about topics as nuanced as nutrition and I do not tire of hearing the words "problematic" or "rhetoric". Definitely looking forward to future episodes!

    YAASS
This is long awaited! I cannot get enough of your instagram stories and posts with valuable evidence based nutrition clarification. The internet is so murky and we need more people to cut through it all. Thank you for what you do and we cannot wait to hear more on the pod!
  • HMPi
    Smart and interesting
I I have learned so much from IG and I am looking forward to more discussions like these because they are so crucial at this time. I can tell it’s going to be thoughtful and poignant. Can’t wait for more!
  • CrystalxDee
    Yay!
I’m so excited to hear that someone else has such a diverse background. I have a BS in criminal justice, pursuing a masters in nutrition and now considering either a PhD or going back to become a dietitian. Can’t wait to hear more content!
  • Mary Eggers
    Thank you
I follow you on IG. I’m an RN, and a 20 year survivor of Bulimia Nervosa. Thank you for this conversation. Thank you.
  • CCTaylor23
    Well done
I follow both your IG pages regularly from Washington state and was excited to see this podcast ready for a listen. There is so much nutrition fallacy going on right now, but both your pages bring a breath of fresh air to this dietitian! Great first podcast, keep em coming!
