We're Having Gay Sex

2,403

After 10 years of serial monogamy, comedian Ashley Gavin, trades in her u-haul for a life of sleeping around and documents every gritty detail of her queer experiments in this podcast. Always in fear of being cancelled, Ashley is aided by her queerest friends, Kate Sisk, known as the "Cancel Coach", and the "Youth in the Soundbooth" Gara Lonning, equipped with a gen-z themed soundboard, to call Ashley out on her BS. Together they interview people from all over the gender and sexuality spectrums (from straight to gay and cis to trans) about their sex lives. And yes straight people, you will find out what lesbian sex is.For advertising opportunities please email PodcastPartnerships@Studio71us.com  We wanna make the podcast even better, help us learn how we can: https://bit.ly/2EcYbu4 Privacy Policy: https://www.studio71.com/us/terms-and-conditions-use/#Privacy%20Policy

Expand your mind (and laugh 😄)
NEVER LAUGHED SO HARD IN ME LIFE 😄 I listen to this podcast when I’m at my low points or panic spirals and it ALWAYS helps. Even though I’m WOKE ™️ queer, poly, kinky, trans 🏳️‍⚧️ I still get canceled for having nuanced views or just having a different culture than others outside my circle. To speak to the haters I DO find Ashley annoying sometimes but I also find my friends annoying. I think she’s very real and that’s why it’s healthy to listen to with that comes annoying things too. 😄 I can’t stand overly cautious people who won’t say what they actually think 10/10 the only place I’d get my banter podcasts. ☺️ I also do think that if you listen to more comedians you realize why she is over the top. That’s the vibe.

Enjoyable even if you aren’t gay
I like Ashley’s comedy and I’m boring and straight. I love this podcast because it’s funny and gives me a glimpse of into gay culture and stuff that I normally would know nothing about.

    This pod rocks!
This pod is hilarious and relatable! It has also helped my relationship with my partner! I love listening!

    here since 1st cohost!
Just have to say it’s been lovely to watch Ashely grow on this show—in a lot of ways— her team, her personal life etc & having the pod is honestly just such a great resource to hear other perspectives from mostly queer voices :) if you’re looking for something that will always be entertaining and even get you actually laughing out loud a few times per episode (at least) then don’t listen to the negative reviews and give it a listen!

    Hilarious and Thought Provoking
I’ve been listening since 2021, and ive listened to every episode of this podcast - please add this podcast to your regular listens if you love to laugh, love conversations about queerness, or just want to hear some thought provoking conversations about human relationships. I love that I don’t agree with Ashley and her cohosts all the time, but that I know they all have guiding values that I align with. It is so important to hear different perspectives and especially to continue listening to someone even if they have a different communication style to you or if you have different opinions. Ashley cares deeply about community, others comfort and feelings, and providing space for difference. That’s what makes her comedy so cathartic and enjoyable - you know that behind the raunchy jokes and aggressive tone, the person performing for you really cares about others so you can really sink in and enjoy it. WHGS is a great time please join Bottom Nation!!

    Don’t Listen to the Haters
One of my favorite podcasts. Ashley is hilarious, and so are her cohosts. There are amazing guests (like Chappell Roan) from many different backgrounds. It has humor and heart. If you are exploring your gender or sexuality or are just curious, this is a great podcast to listen to. This podcast has helped me so much. I started listening to it when I realized I was queer. It has helped me get over some of the internalized homophobia I was dealing with. As for those who came for Ashley after her “cancellation,” she thought it was all in good fun in the moment and did everything she could to apologize when she realized it wasn’t. Cancel culture doesn’t let people learn from their mistakes. There is a huge difference between good people making mistakes and people with bad intentions who habitually harm others. Give her a break. *steps off of soap box*

    Ugh yes
The convos I wish I could have with my friends all the time. So funny, and the hosts are so thoughtful.

    Unpleasant
The first few years were decent but since at least the start of 2024, episodes have been boring and offensive most of the time

    Best podcast out there
Ashley is one of the funniest comedians, her podcasts are completely life changing, and she truly is amazing. ❤️

    🤮
Ashley wants to be Matt Rife so bad, but she’s not a guy and she’s not funny. She takes that gripe out on her cohosts and fans. She repeatedly states that she doesn’t want to have a podcast, but she can’t find success in comedy. She also mentions multiple times how she intentionally made the podcast misleading to seem like a gay sex podcast in efforts to bait people to listen to her comedy. I didn’t know about Ashley’s cancellation before listening, but I wish I had. The episodes after that are hard to listen to. She doubles down on the fact she wants to hurt people’s feelings and says her cancellation fueled her to keep doing it. Looking back at her temper tantrums, it’s apparent she’s the bullied little kid who is acting out trying to get attention by now being the bully.

    Host is unattractive
Physically I mean. She’s not funny either but it’s mainly her physical appearance I can’t get over

    Wow.
I expected better. Telling people to kill themselves isn’t okay. And then having the freaking nerve to complain you got canceled for it?? Yeah no. As someone who's had suicidal thoughts you never know when you could put someone over the edge. These people look up to you. And you dare to tell them to kill themselves and then complain about it. It’s not funny.

    please never stop these episodes
literally begging you to keep uploading cuz you’re the first person outside of my generation (im 19) that is actually funny online and not constantly giving millennial…😭

Host likes to hear herself talk
Started with the Chappell Roan episode and the interviewer talked about herself for most of the episode and interrupted whenever Chappell had something to say. She always brought the conversation back to her comedy (she is not funny). Seems like this whole podcast is used to promote a comedian that doesn’t even have a positive following. I should have known better since the ads for this show on other podcasts are always irritating. It’s giving Arm Chair Expert but with white lesbians. I could not finish the ep and will not be tuning in again.

Wait does Maddie have a BEAUTIFUL singing voice?? 😍🤩

    i really hoped for better
hey from one lesbian to another, maybe stop telling audience members to kill themselves and then complaining to your comedian friends about how you were cancelled for, and i cannot stress this enough, telling one your fans to kill herself. multiple times. on stage. in front of a crowd.

Yep this is my #1 fav podcast for sure. I’m laughing every episode and also feeling so many things and it’s helping me to realize maybe I need to figure out who I am and who I truly identify as. Gets me thinking and constantly laughing!!!

    Let your guests speak!
I tuned in for the first time to listen to Chappell Roan’s episode but it was a FULL 30 minutes before they even asked her a real question! The hosts are truly terrible interviewers—unprepared, obnoxious, uninterested in anything unrelated to themselves. There was so much potential for good conversation here. Will not be listening again.

    Too funny
Ok I started this show because a friend recommended it and I am so glad they did. I love the topics and how genuinely funny Ashley, Maddie and all the guests are. Seriously though y’all making me look crazy because I listen to this when I work out in the gym and I’m trying to stifle my laughter while preventing a dumbbell from crushing my head with this content. I know there are safer places to listen to this podcast but… anyway besides the point. Thank you for having this podcast. Keep up the strong work and I love listening!

    Every episode makes me lol
This podcast is so good it’s unbelievable. I probably look ridiculous laughing on the subway to what seems like nothing. There are also so many important conversations that take place here related to queerness. WHGS will entertain you, validate you, and maybe help you discover something about yourself. Also, I’m a patron and it’s completely worth it for the bonus content. 10/10

Probably. Do I also respect her as an artist? yes. Love this Podcast and Ashley’s work.

    Great stories and Inspirational
I love listening to the stories and different experiences that people have and I love how it feels like we are listening to friends casually hanging out! Its also inspiring to people who maybe need a push to have their own experiences… I’ve definitely been inspired to have more experiences because of this podcast!

    WHGS makes my day brighter
Ashley’s created an incredible world with her comedy podcast and the wide range of guests and co-hosts. Comedy is first and foremost, but the insight and commentaries that come with the stories is something special because of who is hosting the podcast and who she’s invited onto the show. Ashley Gavin’s made comedy more accessible to the queer community through this podcast. Every episode makes me laugh and think. The guests are so fun and have such a wide array of experiences and perspectives, and I always leave the podcast feeling happier and a little more aware of the communities around me.

    I fricken love Ashley
Let me just say I first found Ashley on TikTok and the way I had to devour all of her content was intense. Love this podcast so much I’ve watched / listened to every single episode. I’ve also gone and seen her live like literally greatest comedian ever.

    Hilarious
This podcast is the only thing that keeps me sane during my hour long commute. Ashley and her co-hosts/guests never fail to keep me laughing out loud which probably makes me look like a crazy person driving down the parkway but I’m good with it

    Disappointed
I listened to this podcast since the beginning. Was HuGE fan… my wife and I were super excited to meet Ashley this past weekend in Denver, it was literally something we both couldn’t be more excited for. When we met her she almost seemed freaked out by us. Super cold… it’s such a let down that I can’t even listen to this podcast anymore, due to the sour taste it put in my mouth. Just know Ashley…. People really do look forward to meet you, maybe be a little more warm to your fans.

    ‘ppreciate the content
It could be cool to hear from a queer female/male (or both!) from a branch of the military. This is a corner of the world I know nothing about and would definitely find enlightening.

    Great show
I’ve been a long time listener and fan of her comedy. She’s funny, her co hosts are funny, and her guests are always so sweet and engaging!

    Love, laughter & theory corner
Ashley Gavin is one of my favorite comedians, and her cohost is always great, too! It is my favorite podcast. I listen to it daily, which is great when you need a laugh or cheered up. I wanted to suggest a topic that surprisingly hasn’t been covered: the difference between pansexuality and bisexuality. The definitions seem fuzzy for some, and I would love to hear the discussion amongst cis/trans/nb queer people. Also, Maddie needs to be added in the About section of the podcast's description. Thank you for sharing your time with us!

Bro this podcast has gone way to far
I’ve been listening for awhile and even subscribe to the Patreon. I had some hope that Ashley would improve as a host but this weeks episode was actually unbearable to listen to. Ashley seems to only continue to make this podcast as a way to talk about herself for an hour every week. This weeks episode was almost entirely her bickering with her cohost, with the two of them continuously going on tangents about themselves instead of engaging with the guest. There was bizarre tension between the two of them and Ashley was also being kinda rude to her? Then at one point Ashley was speaking so aggressively to her that the cohost had to calm her down. I’m kind of fed up with the way Ashley treats her own opinions as if they are god tbh, interjecting during every topic to discuss how it relates back to her. She also acts like she has a responsibility to validate everyone else’s sexuality which I find very annoying. Give it a listen if you want to tune into an insanely awkward interaction every week.
  • BrendaLPGA
    Used to be better
For a significant duration, the show has prominently featured an abundance of cisgender heterosexual men, resulting in its shift towards a more mainstream vibe and the loss of its distinctive queer edge.
