TimHunterKim C. Is a delight to listen toI have listened to 32 episodes of this podcast. My guess is that’s close to 50 hours of listening to Kim C. gush about Stephen King. She is delightful! Don’t let the “lecture style” part of the description fool you. It’s really more of a conversational style with just one person talking. When I listen to this podcast I always envision myself in a cozy room with a group of fellow SK fans listening to Ms. C. talk about the current SK book while holding a half-empty glass of wine. What other lecturer would address us as “loveys” or “my guys?” She’s not afraid to share a bit of her personal life either, if it helps us understand her reaction to the book. Oh yes, she supplies educated literary analysis and insight but it’s leavened with so much humor and love for SK. I’ve listened to many different SK podcasts but this one is a cut above!

Jenn D. 77King from a Woman’s PerspectiveI have enjoyed Kim C’s deep dives into King’s work through both her feminine and professorial lenses. She is well versed in literary tropes as well as willing to gush over emotional impacts. It’s a perfect recipe! Thank you and keep the great content coming! Jennifer Davies

mattie-h-787Great Insight, Very Enjoyable Listen!I’m a new listener and this is such a great podcast. I still haven’t read a lot of Underrated King, but I’m looking forward to having this as a resource for when I do! I’m currently making my way through the Dark Tower episodes and some of the other stories I have read, like IT. That episode may be my fav so far. I feel like this show is the best of both worlds, you get a deeply critical analysis and breakdown, but presented in a friendly and easily accessible way. Happy to have this in my growing collection of SK podcasts!

jimmyhookupsLike a book club with your smartest, coolest BFFKim’s enthusiasm for King’s work is simply infectious. If she was excited about reading the phone book, I’d want to be a part of it as well. Podcast has developed over time and has only gotten better!

Obsessive Viewer PodcastsOne of my favorite podcasts!Kim C’s approach to analyzing the work of Stephen King is a very fresh take on the work. Viewing King’s storytelling from a literary analysis perspective often yields tons of information I was completely unaware of and makes me reconsider and/or contemplate stories that I’ve lived with and loved for years. This is a very worthwhile Stephen King podcast that doesn’t just celebrate King’s work but is also a strong companion to it as well.

FORMER RADIO SPORTS LISTNERGreat podI’ve read almost all of King’s work and have listened to a lot of King podcasts. This is the best. Kim’s analysis is fantastic and her enthusiasm for learning more about the Dark Tower makes this pod very enjoyable

MacNabbThoroughly enjoyable podcast!Thoroughly enjoyable podcast from the perspective (much-needed in the world of Stephen King podcasts) of an actual academic and creative writing teacher. Kim's thoughful and enthusiastic takes on some of the lesser-known (and somewhat lesser-loved, unfortunately) works of Stephen King are refreshing, fun, and thought-provoking. I am an OG Constant Reader and I look forward to each episode!

BurtSampsonExcellent and insightful podcast of one of horror’s bestI came across Kim and her podcast through Instagram, and what a breath of fresh air it is! Having just finished Rose Madder, I gravitated to her episode for a female perspective, and got not only that, but a really insightful deep dive on the symbology and weight of the novel. It’s nice to hear a singular and rich analysis in a world of crowded and sometimes too lighthearted round table discussions, and I can’t wait to listen to more episodes!

Bryant Burnetteengaging and thoughtfulThis is a terrific podcast focused on the lesser-known works of Stephen King. Great idea for a show! The host, Kim, is very knowledgeable and has a marvelous speaking voice. She's inquisitive; she's not so chained to her own opinions that she isn't willing to consider alternatives; and while she's not so serious that the pod fails to be loose, she's never coming at things from a shallow standpoint. It's a scholarly podcast, yes; but it's also an entertaining one. Recommended to all Constant Readers.
