Munch My Benson: A Law & Order: SVU Podcast

39

Munch My Benson, the seminal SVU podcast, is the twisted spawn of co-hosts Adam Schwitters and Josh Duggan, celebrating the splendid and often wildly inappropriate lunacy found only on Law & Order: Special Victims Unit. Each week The Randomizer spits out a new episode, and they dive deep into the heinous murk before rating it in terms of overall quality, guest star performances, the degree to which the episode was problematic (the more, the better), and the depth and breadth of lives ruined (more=better). So come along for a wild ride through the uproarious darkness of the Dickwolfiverse.

    Always a fun listening experience.
I should have given them a review awhile ago but I caught a SVU Baby Noah episode and had to leave all media for a few months. But now I'm back and I can tell you to definitely give this show a listen.Just hit random and enjoy.

Weezy laugh and dumb politics UNSUBSCRIBED
Look, there take and talk is slow but can be interesting about SVU. But I unsubscribed today when they spent several minutes just railing against the Democratic Party. Not even in context they just seem to clutch at any excuse to be a social Special Victim. I'm here to listen about the shows, not the increasingly cringeworthy takes on society and surface-level political views. I did find them via Kevin Flynn's "These are there stories" another broader and superior L&O podcast and I enjoyed MMB for a few weeks and have been wincing through the last four or five. I stopped at today's episode Alta Kockers.

SVU has long been my favorite go to TV procedural, but even though I love to watch it, I also love to laugh at how ridiculous it can be sometimes. That’s why I love Munch My Benson. Far from just a recap pod, this show and its hosts point out all of the things about SVU you thought you thought you were terrible for laughing at. From cheesy dialogue, to crazy stunt casting, to the fact that the writers just refuse to let Liv ever have a positive romantic relationship, this pod does not shy away from glib humor about this serial TV hit. Plus, it’s non-sequential (thanks Bill & Ted!) so it’s easy to jump right in, or go back and listen to them recap your favorite episodes. I would also highly recommend watching the episode before you listen each week! It will make the Munchie Boys’ hot takes even more spicy. Love this pod, it’s in my regular weekly rotation!

    Nostalgia for the win!
I wasn’t sure what to expect when I first showed up, but this is honestly a great podcast. The hosts are engaging and they never lost my attention! Definitely recommend this to anyone who’s looking for a new podcast. Subscribed ✅ - Independent Thought podcast

I start every episode at the 25min mark, because they take about that long to get to the recaps. They first, read off every outside character’s IMDb. Then they sometimes complain about the episode they’re covering, having needless scenes and info… but they never realize the irony of that commentary.

    Sporadic SVU watcher
As someone who is not a diehard SVU fan (although I might become one), I still really enjoy listening to this podcast. There’s good banter, good music, and it keeps me engaged. I’m way more interested in watching an episode now than I ever was - so thanks Josh and Adam!

    Love it.
This is definitely one of the better SVU podcasts. Adam and Josh are both likable, knowledgeable, and entertaining. The research they do on these episodes is thorough and interesting. I look forward to listening every Monday. Keep up the good work, boys!

This is THE ultimate SVU Podcast.
Adam and Josh are incredible at breaking down SVU episodes. The good, the bad, and the Benson. SVU is one of my favorite shows and this is one of my favorite podcasts. Plus they have one of the best names.

Truly delightful, thorough coverage on one of the most insane shows ever of all time! I love that these guys highlight the day players who knock it out of the park, as there are so many throughout the series. Keeping me giggling through my work day. I’m so grateful for it!

Hilarious even if you don’t like SVU
For years I’ve known about Law and Order: SVU, but had no desire to watch it. This podcast is so funny I’ve finally caved and now watch every episode they select. Witty and interesting.

A Great take on the TV episodic review formula
SVU is omnipresent, popping into our lives here and there, an episode or two at a time. We’ve probably all seen at least 50 episodes some how, even if you never actually tried. And that’s the hook for this podcast that feels like we’re seated next to two old friends in a bar discussing the random episode they happened to catch on USA that day. Wacky, irreverent comments and tangents about some unknown film one of the guest stars that week popped up in, and sometimes really poignant takes on policing, the problematic nature of looking back on how we saw the world twentyish years ago and weird NYC map-facts, this is a fantastic listen. I’m just frustrated there aren’t more episodes available.

    Title alone deserves 5 stars
Great title. I like the categories. I think it will continue to improve with age. I think they could use a woman’s point of view on some things, but I’m a fan!

    For SVU fans
Such a great podcast. I’m a fan of the show and love listening to these two gentlemen talk about the episodes. I especially love how they are doing them at random. Something that I feel is common for most people, the randomness. Like how you usually watch the show when you come across them on USA. Like when you’re stuck at the in-laws or in a random hotel room with nothing to do or watch, you always have a random episode of Law & Order SVU on to make you feel more comfortable, or not.
