    Exceptional
This show is not only for actors, not only for artists, but for any human who has a strong desire to grow. It is unique among podcasts in that it is practical, moving, engaging, and extraordinarily human. Thank you Charlie.

Just became a new subscriber and love the show!
I gave it a listen because an actor I met and really admire named PJ guested on this last episode. And PJ is a hoot, very entertaining and insightful, which made the time just fly on by. But I also greatly enjoyed how the host Charlie introduced the show, himself, his guest and asked/followed up with insightful thoughts/questions. Charlie’s ability to weave a story with his voice, to grab your attention and keep you invested when it could easily become boring is fantastic. So I just subscribed, because as someone who writes, acts and directs, I find the podcast insightful and inspiring. Looking forward to catching up on past episodes and all upcoming ones!

All Actors Must Listen to This Show
I studied with Maggie Flanigan in the early 2000s, and discovered Charlie’s podcast while looking for stuff to do during the SAG-AFTRA actor’s strike. Charlie brings me back to the best of my training, which I have sadly lost a little of over the years as I’ve gone up and down in my acting journey. Charlie is so generous with the acting principles he shares (they’re pretty simple, really!), the books and articles he reads, and the guests he talks to who work in all corners of entertainment. I started from episode 1 during the pandemic years and I’m currently working my way through year 2. Thank you, Charlie, for the best 30-60 minutes of my day lately.

    Captivating.
Inspiring, informative, and extremely interesting. Charlie has a way of communicating with the listener in an intimate and profound way. He brings on guests from the industry, and let’s you in on the life of the working artist. He illuminates actors, activists, and people of historic artistic importance, while sprinkling in some of his own sage acting/life advice.

    Life Changing
Every single episode of Creating Behavior is revelatory. No matter who Charlie’s guest is (and his solo episodes, too), the conversations are everything: interesting, enlightening, inspiring, informative, motivating and often just plain stop-in-your-tracks impactful. I can think of no better way to use an hour or so of your life. I’m not an actor and have no connection to that world, but it doesn’t matter— the concepts Charlie’s podcast addresses are universal. If you’re a plumber, hearing about the ways these actors live their lives, their progress, their stumbles, their despair and triumph and discoveries will resonate and have meaning for you, too. Listen to every episode you can. You’ll be glad you did.

    Living an artistic life
This podcast is so incredible. Charlie Sandlan has spent his career training and inspiring actors. His wisdom and life experience in the artistic world is second to none. He is an inspiration and a brilliant acting teacher. If you are looking to train in a professional environment where you will leave as a skilled actor, Maggie Flanigan Acting Studio is the place for you. Whether or not you are looking for training this podcast is a must for all actors. It keeps me inspired, reminds me to be courageous, and never settle for my second best! I can’t thank Charlie enough for Creating Behavior! - Sydney Brianne

    A High-Brow Podcast for Artists
A podcast for artists (and curious regular people) who want inspiration and insight into the craft of acting, living as an artist, and surviving the industry. This business can be so draining and it’s important to find outside sources of inspiration to encourage you to keep going and enjoy the process. I listen to this podcast while I hike or walk my dog and I instantly feel two things 1) I desperately wish I was back in his class and 2) inspired to create, inspired to be better, inspired to expand my intellectual and artistic world. This is an entertaining, extremely professional high-brow podcast and I’ve learned (or remembered) something new every episode. Like— I might just try Reiki now (and my mom has been trying to get me to do it for years). You won’t regret making this a weekly listen. A+++++!

    Gratitude
Thank you for this podcast! Constantly reminded of my goals and purposes with every listen. I love hearing the perspective of Charlie as an artist, teacher, and actor. His knowledge and expertise in these subjects inspire to keep on my own artistic path. If you love actors and acting you will eat this podcast up!

    #30 life coach vs. therapy
Most important and ethical issue is that therapists are licensed and held to ethical standards by law but life coaches are not. Also the theoretical orientation you describe is just one of many forms of therapy. Check our Acceptance and Commitment Therapy or Motivational Interviewing or many more. Large disservice to the creative community to misrepresent therapy. There’s enough work for all healers, no reason to plot against each other.

    Injection of inspiration
Such a great podcast. I only found it last week and have since listened to the entire first season. Theres some tremendous motivation in these episodes. If I’m being honest, I can get complacent with my crafting at times and it was like being back in the classroom; reminding me how to work and create properly. Solid recommendations for consumption of art - whether that be music, art, poetry, film, or television. Also some wonderful guest interviews. Looking forward to the new episodes.

Season 2 can’t come soon enough!
Charlie never fails to inspire, empower & uplift. As a former student I can say definitively that this podcast is a direct reflection of his heart & soul. His view on the art of acting is an important contribution to the usual superficial nature of this industry. I can’t wait for the next season! 💛

    Insightful and Grounded
What a gem for the ever evolving artist! There is so much to learn here. The guests are amazing. And the podcast vacillates beautifully between thoughtful, insightful and intimate storytelling. Charlie Sandlan for the win!!!

    Bravo!

Charlie is a brilliant teacher, he was the first teacher I trained with when I moved to NYC and during the six-week summer intensive, he change my life as an actor. His standards are HIGH and he doesn’t take any crap, but he is truly committed to truth and the craft of acting. This podcast is a breath of fresh air.

    ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Being a current student of Charlie Sandlan, I find myself hanging onto every word during class, scribbling phrases and valuable information down in my notebook. The knowledge he holds about the art of acting and the passion in the way he speaks really drives motivation and determination coursing through your veins. I am beyond delighted to be able to listen to these podcasts at any given time and daydream in each episode.

Perfect podcast for any curious human
Full disclosure: I am a former student of Charlie Sandlan, the host of this podcast, and full disclosure again: I am an actor! So everything about this podcast appeals to me: a teacher I love, talking about the biggest artistic passion of my life. HOWEVER, I believe that anyone can enjoy this podcast! If you are a human curious about art, life, and the human condition, you will fall in love with what Charlie and his guests have to say. Each episode is insightful, interesting, and will leave you inspired as you go about your life. Thanks Charlie, for making something so wonderful!!

    WHAT A VOICE!
This is the first podcast I have listened to in a long time where when Charlie speaks I want to listen to what he has to say. I can visualize what he is saying and he keeps the listener interested. His voice is very therapeutic and calming . I would highly recommend tuning into Creating Behavior with Charlie Sandlan.

    Keeping Art Alive
Having trained with Charlie, the podcast is a great listen for those either in the arts, aspiring to be or simply for those who want a peek behind the curtain in terms of the work that goes into being an artist. Charlie takes you inside the world of training, something that is becoming less and less visible in today’s culture. The journey from training to the set is fully fleshed out here with great guests and great insight.

    YES YES YES
I can confidently say that Charlie Sandlan has changed my life. And not solely as an artist, but as a human. I had the great pleasure of training with Charlie at The Maggie Flanigan Studio in New York City. Charlie turned teaching into an art form for me, and I was just as excited to work with him in class each day as I was to act. He held a safe space for me to open myself up in ways I never thought possible. He helped me learn how to stand up for myself. He inspired me tremendously, and still does. On top of being an incredible teacher, he has wit, brains and knowledge for days! I never feel smart enough when I listen to Charlie😜, which inspires me to learn and grow! But what makes him a notch above the rest (IMO) is his remarkable passion - for acting, teaching, and art. And now we can hear him through our headphonesss. Yesss! It’s very exciting to finally be able to carry him around in my pocket with me. His word is worth a lot, and this podcast is a gift! If you are an artist who cares for your craft and desires competitive acting chops in the industry, please do yourself a favor and heed his word. You won’t regret it. -x, kara

    Entertaining and insightful.
I trained with Charlie and Maggie and cherish those years as they taught me to live as an artist. I highly recommend this podcast to actors and lovers of acting.

    Love this podcast!!
Love the candid conversations and the wisdom that applies to anyone, not just actors.

    Important learning yet marvelously entertaining
The beauty of being an actor is that it’s a profession where the learning never stops. But it’s easy to get self conscious about what other great actors are doing that you might not be doing. This podcast not only gives you insight into how different actors do things differently, it is funny and inspiring and motivating. Hearing someone talk about what it was like to book that big role, or how they prepared for that terrifying audition, it showed me that everyone from the movie star to the struggling barely working actor are one in the same. As long as you stay dedicated and true to your craft. I look forward to many more episodes not only for myself and my career as an actor but also as a person who simply likes to be entertained. Thank you Charlie Sandlan!

    Artists craft
Charlie is an amazing teacher that I’ve had the pleasure of studying with for two years. Charlie’s best qualities are his passion, vulnerability, and honesty. This podcast illuminated all of those qualities. Artists, this podcast is for you!
