Mildly interesting at first but quickly becomes obnoxious.
I read a lot of fantasy, and I wanted to like this podcast. The guys are interesting enough, and they have some interesting things to say but they always end up in the same place where they are criticizing the author for not writing women in a way that they want them to be written. It's disheartening that a book can't just exist on its own merits, but has to fill identity quotas and be politically correct. The Robert Jordan hate especially turned me off. Sadly I can't keep listening. On to the next.

    Book reviews and recommendations
This is Doc from the podcast: Heroes of Science Fiction and Fantasy. I have listened to at least 12 episodes and follow the show now. I listen to each new one and cherry pick from the back catalog of more then 250 episodes. I try to pick now at least 2 per week from the back catalog. Really enjoy Charles and Dylan’s reviews and suggestions. Keep them going!

    Love the fantasy discourse
I’ve been disenchanted with a lot of BookTok discourse and have been listening to more podcasts to get recommendations and hear thoughts on good books. This is exactly what I was looking for!

    Thank you, Friends!
I was looking for commentary on The First Law trilogy, found Charles and Dylan and I’m so happy I did. I haven’t been able to convince any of my friends to jump on the fantasy train with me, so being able to listen to these discussions about the books/series I love is so valuable to me. Thank you so much for all your hard work - I appreciate you both!

    Treasure Trove of Fantasy Chat!
I discovered Fantasy with Friends by watching a First Law video on the Brothers Gywnne booktube channel. Looking at all the subjects these guys already have discussed makes me so happy, all my favorites. I listened to the Witcher short story tier list and agreed with all their opinions. I look forward to many more hours of listening. FYI, the Warlord Chronicles & the Saxon Tales both by Bernard Cornwall have the best audio narrator, Jonathan Keeble.

    Relaxed yet Insightful
This is a great podcast. The 2 hosts clearly are good friends, and that comes through in the ease of their conversations. Yet, they also do the hard work of planning out their conversations, and they always have interesting takes about the books they cover, backed up with evidence and examples. I love when I read a book that these guys have read, because I know I’ll get to listen to a great chat about it from these 2 after. Give it a listen.

    Amazing podcast
I love listening to these guys chat about books they love that I’ve also read. It’s very clear they’re passionate about SFF and I love their personal takes. I also really appreciate their spoiler free review and recommendation episodes, I keep adding more books and series to my TBR lol. I don’t have a lot of friends who read fantasy, so this podcast is perfect for me.

    Filling airtime
I really wanted a nice fantasy book focused pod cast. However I couldn’t stand how slow the conversations happen. They will dance around topics for minutes at a time to pad air time. I had the speed at 2x and it was still taking forever to get to the meat of episodes and or topics. I’d pass unless you are looking for mostly filler fluff.

    Decent
Pretty good podcast could use work on the sound. I could do without sounds of people doing things in the background & sometimes one of the host’s microphone squeaks when he says his S’s. Other than that it’s fun.

    Hilarious, Insightful, Nerdy
I wish my friends were into all-things fantasy like these two, but Dylan and Charles have helped to fill that void in my life! I’ve especially enjoyed their Wheel of Time content since I’m roughly in the same place on my own journey, but their episodes on Mark Lawrence, Brandon Sanderson, and others have all been equally enjoyable. Genuinely love listening to you guys! —Sandra G.

    Great podcast!
This podcast is so well done. The two hosts are so thoughtful and think through every topic they bring up. I’ve enjoyed their recommendations and added to my tbr multiple things they’ve brought up.

Skip the book club and listen to this!
Amazing pod with lightning fast pacing and two likable hosts. I highly recommend the episodes dedicated to discussions around individual characters. Keep spreading the Joe Abercrombie love!

    Fun, layered, and rigorous discussions!
This is a great podcast series. Well hosted and the discussions are fun, entertaining, and best of all, really insightful and rigorous. Ever episode I've listened to has broadened my appreciation for fantasy and scifi. Keep em' coming!

    A healthy dose of Nerds
This Podcast is well hosted by Charles and Dylan, a charismatic duo. It’s pleasant to listen to and also cures a hungover. Recently, I had a piercing headache after a night that started with an Edward Forty-Hands of malt liquor. I was drywalling the back of my toilet with a tar-black muddy paste but Dylan and Charles’ take on Game of Thrones brought my diarrhea back to solid form. My spincter, stinging from copious amounts of Tapatio poured onto my burrito began to cool as Charles forgave Game of Thrones after the disappointing and frustrating final season. Only Con, didn’t talk about the amount of nudity we witnessed, especially the penises.

You Had Me At The Intro Music
FTF is like hanging out with two of your best friends and talking about your favorite books. Only, you don't need to have your best friend there, or even to have read the book, really. Consistently my favorite podcasts are ones where the hosts have rapport (I'm thinking of Lords of Limited over Limited Resources in the MTG sphere), and Charles and Dylan have it. So it doesn't really matter WHAT they're talking about... but if you're into stories fantastical you'll probably like that part too.

One Podcast to Rule Them All
I have traveled far and wide looking for a podcast like this. Charles and Dylan are fantastic (and handsome!) hosts. They are avid and passionate fantasy readers with great insight into the genre. The two have hilarious banter back and forth, and they’ve made me excited to pick up a few books I’ve been putting off diving into. That means a lot coming from me because I am mostly illiterate! I’m excited for the potential of this podcast, and I can’t wait to see where their creativity takes them.

I kinda like this podcast. But my opinion on the matter probably shouldn't be trusted....
