sstrineMy all-time favorite nature and travel podcast! This is hands-down the show I most enjoy listening to, and it’s easily my favorite nature and travel podcast…interesting and relevant to birders, herpers, travelers, hikers, and all-around nature enthusiasts. It’s funny, educational, engaging and inspirational, and I constantly find myself googling locations or looking up birds so I can add them to my wish list. This show makes me excited to explore the wild places on our incredible planet!

BirdingGirlLove this podcast!I’ve been listening for several years and absolutely love this podcast! You guys keep it interesting by changing up the format. I loved the latest episode where you were live in the field! Please do more of those.

MikeBirdmanLove this podcastThis is ostensibly about birds. But in reality it is two well-traveled international bird guides talking about: issues with travel all over the world; foods they love, travel tips, mammal sightings, and yes bird sightings. But it is not a list, it is a flowing banter of the issue of getting to some remote site, getting bitten by leeches. deailing with car breakdowns, and all in a friendly jovial banter that is respectful and fun. Mostly this podcast makes me want to travel to these amazing places.

cfharcourtFavorite Nature/Travel PodcastAs a birder and traveller this podcast is tailor-made for my personal passions, but Ken and Charley's stories would certainly be fun and engaging to anyone with an interest in nature. There is sometimes a loose and impromptu feel to the episodes, but I think that just makes it feel more genuine and relatable. I wait for new episodes with anticipation and always come away in a good mood, motivated to keep exploring and go birding more. Love the new theme music too!

El SproGreat travel and wildlife stories. Fun!I'm an avid birder, and I love to travel. This podcast ticks both boxes! Ken & Charley are professional birding guides who've travelled all over the world. Their podcast relates sstories of the places they've been and the wildlife they've seen. Never stodgy, often funny, always interesting. These are two blokes you want to have a pint with.

ARMHARMGAround the world with this podcast! This is such a great podcast. I heard about it on the ABA Podcast a few weeks ago and I’ve been binge listening ever since. As a birder, it’s exposing me to so many new birds. And it’s allowing me to vicariously travel all over the world to remote, far flung locations. Such a great cure for Covid cabin fever and inspiring so many future trips. Ken and Charley are so knowledgeable but the vibe is chill and conversational. Great podcast!

NiddymugginsTales of Folly and AdventureKen and Charley have been to places, seen birds, and had adventures that we all dream about. If you are fortunate enough to have birded the Kinabatangan River, walked the valley down from Abra Malaga, and had leeches open you up like a faucet in Borneo, you will greatly appreciate their stories. Mistakes made, lessons learned, and an appreciation for happiness in its purest form: searching for the rare and truly wild things in this beautiful world. Please check this out if you love adventure, are a maniacal birder, or love stories about adventure.

Hardcore TrainwreckGreat storytelling - best birding podcast on Earth (so far!)Ken and Charley make a terrific team, and their ability to capture what's most riveting and rewarding about travel (and especially travel for natural historians) is phenomenal and very uncommon. I think many of us have what Charley calls "itchy feet" at the moment (with suspension of most tourism), and this podcast is a foot-balm for the so-frustrated. Of course, the relief is only temporary - you have to wait for the next podcast to bum around with them and get the feet moving, vicariously, again. It's splendid, also, to hear how their passion/profession connects with their spouses and children, with other naturalists, and with conservationists as they go through their fearless, fascinating lives. (Has any other Pennsylvania boy packed up and moved to Madagascar?) The interviews they do are especially good, but I could listen to "Top Ten" (or Twenty, etc.) for months on end, too. I like that they don't shy away from difficult subjects but also don't dwell on them--the right balance of being informed and being enthused. Listening to the podcast, too, brings me back to my own memories of our shared sacred spaces and spectacles, and it's great to feel connected to people who also experience wonderment in the way I do, particularly in such sensitive and articulate ways. But they could speak on just about any subject (how about "funniest mistakes ever made in foreign languages"?). My hat is off. Nice work, gents.

MDZebYou Don’t Have To Be Into OrnithologyKen and Charlie’s podcast is a delight. They bring first-hand experience and knowledge of birding, wildlife, habitats, conservation, geography, and indigenous culture with a tone that is informal yet informed, conversational without being condescending. I don’t have much interest in ornithology, per se, yet I always come away with a fresh appreciation for the natural world, a handful of species to google, and gratitude to these two for cultivating in me a greater sense of awe for, and responsibilities toward, the natural world. Thank you both for sharing your knowledge and your stories with us.

Weebill WillGreat adventure storiesLove the great stories of adventure, birding, and all the other great things that are seen and experienced along the way. A must listen if you like world travel and nature.

DI birderThe joys of the jungleEpisode 4. The joys of birding the jungles and the unexpected gifts it brings. Hilarious and entertaining. I can still see the leaches attached as you weaved your tale. The time and effort these two men spend relating their adventures is definetly a must for all birders . Kudos Ken and Charley. Keep the stories coming.

Texan BirderHighly recommendedOne of the most entertaining podcasts I’ve ever listened to! I enjoy living vicariously through Ken and Charley’s amazing stories. A must listen for any birding enthusiast!
-
TampabirderI’m hookedKeep them coming ! As a birder I find these story filled episodes completely captivating . That said non birders will find them equally interesting. The travel and human interest parts of the stories are thoroughly appreciated.
-
JohnPBehrensTreasure trove of tales from the globeKen and Charlie contain a veritable cave of wonders of travel experiences between them. The top ten lists are interesting certainly, but the meat of this podcast is hearing the stories behind each entry, and the way the hosts think and talk about the world and their experiences in it. Not many people get to travel and bushwack the way Ken and Charlie have, so these stories are a precious oral history of our planet and its people and wonders.
-
David@TBPFinally - a quality ‘birding tales’ podcastExcellent conversation about memorable sightings and the people and experiences along the way. Captures the essence of what drives so many birders in pursuit of the next bird or better views and photos of those seen before - the birds yes, but also the amazing locations, wilderness, cultures, and interesting people that comprise the whole birding adventure experience. Keep the tales coming, please!
