SamixelPlant newbieNew to the plant world. I’ve hyper fixated on things in the past and this is a new one for me. I’ve had so much fun learning about plants and this show has made it super easy for me to learn. I just put my headphones in and listen on my way to work, at work, on the light rail and on my way home! Her voice is so sweet and soft and easy to listen to. I’ve learned so much! Thank you!

Dr. Wendy BInteresting and informational!Rachel seems like such a nice person. She breaks down topics so they are understandable for a newbie, but they are still interesting if one knows a lot about plants. I started listening when I had two plants. Now I have 80. I am still interested. Thanks!

Ashley at the LibraryPothos EpisodeIve had pothos plants for years but I just bought a golden variegated pothos this week! I had no idea the pothos we know and love in our homes is only the juvenile phase of the plant- thanks for sharing some less commonly known facts so I can be a better houseplant know-it-all 😉

wintersongbirdFound this helpful and calming podcast at a much needed timeI discovered this podcast after I recently got into houseplants. in the past, I’ve been a plant killer. My husband is a fantastic gardener, but is currently fighting cancer. visiting greenhouses and bringing greenery indoors has been some thing we can do together as he heals, and this show is so relaxing and informative. It’s been a perfect support system for my new hobby during a difficult time. So thanks!

ultimóHelpful, fun, and encouraging podcastThis podcast is just what I’m looking for as I expand my plant collection and really up my propagations. I’ve shared this app with friends and family after listening to several episodes. I’d really like to learn more about ferns and pests; I just bought a couple secondhand plants that came with hosts. I treated and isolated. Thankfully I haven’t had to deal with pests before, but when I began encountering these I feared for my other plants. Thank you for all your help and the wide scope you show with the history, meaning, importance, care, and growth of plants! Will keep recommending!

CocoMoonbeamsGreat for this beginnerAs a complete beginner I really enjoy this podcast because I can understand it! I e tried several that said they were for beginners and I was so lost in the first fifteen minutes of an episode that I quit because it definitely required some previous knowledge. This podcast is easily digestible and the host is great at explaining further for those more advanced topics. As someone who never had any luck with ANY plant in my youth, I am surprised to hear that the plants I’ve had luck with keeping alive (orchids and calatheas) are considered difficult plants! Started with a gifted orchid, put it in a sunny bathroom window and forgot about it... A winning recipe apparently. Then I got a rattlesnake calathea and treated it similarly…. It flourished. I’ve had both of these for years now and they are doing great! Expanded my calathea collection to include a furry feather, medallion and herringbone.. all thriving in my bathroom window. Now I’m in to a huge peace lily and everyone asks me how I am keeping it alive. Guess I have a knack for the difficult ones…?

M-hondoGreat infoHi Rachel! I really enjoy listening to your podcasts and you have great information on the plants you cover! I have recommended your podcast to some of my friends that I have given cuttings to and they are inspired to build a relationship with plants as well. MelissaShawnGreat show for plant lovers!I have been listening to this show for a while now as I began my love story with plants a couple years ago. I have a lot to learn and this show answers so many of my questions! The host is very easy to listen to and she does a great job on interviews as well as solo shows. I highly recommend this show whether you are new or old to plants. There’s always more to learn and she keeps it interesting!

SnowLuvz2SingNew listenerThis was my first episode and I really enjoyed it. We spent about 2 hours last night “Dexterizing” my screen porch with heavy duty shower curtain liners so combat our unseasonable cold weather we are experiencing in central Florida. I was delighted to hear the majority of the 150 or so plants that live out there were on the cold tolerant list. I’ve got the humidifier set up to keep them happy on days where we stay under 50 degrees and I can’t roll back the plastic. I plan on bringing my more rare ($$) tropicals inside for extra protection😬

GiantsfanMeagLoving this podcastHi Rachel, I’m a pretty new listener, a couple weeks in now, and I’m really enjoying your podcast. You give great plant advice. I just finished your most recent episode about bad plant advice and could have listened to an hour more of that. It’s beneficial to hear what actually works and what is total nonsense. Thank you for what you do!
-
superhappuPlantsHI you do a great job on supplying people with great info on plants! You should definitely pick me for the drawing 😊 😆 My Name is Selah Larrabee

AudioseekerBadAudioCriteria for audio rating: Sonorous, loud, full and rich, projection of voice, crisp & clear. 5 of 5 meets all criteria. If listener has to strain to hear speaker, 0 out of 5. I also consider how effectively speaker makes use of time; i.e., long pauses, lots of uuums and uuuuhs, deviation from point, beating around the bush, and general elocution. About 99% emphasis on audio quality. I use podcast Money Matters with Ken Moraif as 100% standard of AUDIO SOUND QUALITY ONLY, that gets 5 out of 5 rating. Criteria for content: how is this info unique and different from what I can glean from a google search? What advantage can I gain that I can’t from google search? If info is unique & helps elucidate complex and esoteric ideas, gets 5 out of 5. If info is just stuff that can be pretty much read off google searches, gets 0 out of 5. I place 1% emphasis on content (good info is useless if can’t be heard or understood). Audio for this podcast is 2⁄5. Speaker is soft spoken, sounds diffident and timorous; I have to somewhat strain to hear what she’s saying. Poor projection of voice. Speaker’s voice is pleasant; pleasing to ears, and is considerate of listener’s time. Content rating: 0 out of 5. Info can pretty much be read from a google search. This podcast lacks explanation on botanical aspects of plants; i.e., how photosynthesis is performed, difference between C4 & C3 plants, chemical composition, elucidation of respiration process, transpiration, etc. Basically devoid of plant anatomy and physiology explanation, and hence devoid of higher cognitive function. In general: I wouldn’t waste my time on this podcast.

Aley_f19In depth! Love love love!!!I just found this show on Spotify, and I just had to come to apple podcast to write a review. I love how the care guides go further than normal care guides. Rachel really does the research and talks about where they originate, what they symbolize, their history and obviously normal care like how to deal with pests, watering, and propagating! Rachel has a very calming voice and i truly enjoy listening to this podcast while working ❤️ crazy how she adds so much info but the episodes aren’t super long! ❤️🙌🏽🌱

Struggling Plant MommaInspiring podcast that encouraged me to keep goingLast April I bought myself a philodendron and had been taking excellent care of it and decided to branch out to other plants but had been having a hard time knowning what their needs were, and accidentally killed a Pilea glauca in the process. I wanted to give up but then I started listening to this podcast at work and decided to keep on trying. The episode where Rachel’s mother was on the podcast inspired me to keep on trying and that everyone makes mistakes when they first start out. She offers excellent advice and I love hearing what she has to say, her voice is so calming and listening to this podcast helps calm me down when I’m anxious. On top of this I love it when she goes off on tangents on the history of all these plants, I feel like on top of plant knowledge I’m also gaining some random history facts I can impress all my friends with. :) Thank you Rachel and I hope you keep this podcast up.

Plants by Wade LeePlant school is so cool!I'm in northeast Florida and plant obsessed! Love tuning into your podcast. Thank you for your knowledge and your kindness of sharing.

HarpyQueen200105New to the showI just started really getting into and collecting plants. I looked through the pod cast and chose yours because some many of your topics were on plants that I just got. It has been super helpful. I listened to the flowering plant episode and now will be adding a few of those to my collection. I didn’t see this topic but if you did cover this I apologize in advance. I would love an episode on what makes a plant rare what to look for and the best way to buy one. Whether that be a leaf cutting, node, tissue, etc. Thanks for all your work Lauren
