Not what it used to be ...
... this podcast has really gone downhill. It used to be amazing. Of late, though, the jokes from Jeff (and the others) used to be done with some moderation but of late every other sentence is a stupid joke or snarky comment. Completely ruins the pace of the narrative and it has become largely unlistenable ... which is a shame.

More than an "Animal Attack Podcast"
I would describe this as animal/wilderness/survival education more than anything. But it's more than that too. The guys bring something special that so rarely encapsulated in a podcast. They are funny but still respectful, knowledgeable without being boring and just so much more. I can't recommend them enough. I subscribe to them on Patreon so that I don't miss out on anything.

    Great Pod
Fun and informative. Wes is a great story teller; Mike and Jeff add humor and levity. All three of them have great chemistry and being of a similar age most of the references they make are very relatable. Great research and historical reference to the encounters and the biology of the animals involved. Keep is up!

    Road Trippin
My wife and I recently had a long road trip from Kansas to Long Island for work then to VT NH and Maine (whatever that abbreviation is) and our good friends recommended your podcast to listen to. And we really enjoyed it. We both loved how your broke down the stories where they went wrong what they did right what we could do better and I enjoyed that despite it being a pretty grim story sometimes I always had a laugh with you guys and your ridiculousness. So thank you for your hard work and keep on keeping on.

    Great show!
I just started listening to this podcast and it is now my new obsession. I love watching shows like ā€œI survivedā€ and ā€œI was preyā€ or ā€œI shouldn’t be aliveā€ and this podcast is perfect for me. I like that this podcast has multiple different scenarios of people who survived and those who didn’t. The hosts do have really dark humor but I do as well. I can laugh along with them and still have sympathy for the victims. Some of these episodes are hard to listen to but I find them so fascinating and it’s educational. Me and my sister always like to be prepared if we are ever in one of these situations and this shows gives that to us.

    10 claw podcast
-This is my favorite podcast, because within it is the treatment to my (very millennial,self-diagnosed) ADHD. It provides just the right amount of frontal cortex stimulation so that I can get work done around the house. So thanks guys, you are the reason my children have clean clothing to wear and clean dishes to eat off of, probably. Is my husband concerned about my listening habit? Possibly. But this is the reason he is eating home-cooked meals every night, so he can’t complain. Plus, when I inevitably, eventually save him from the one of the sleepy little black bears that occasionally wanders through our neighborhood on our way to Shenandoah, he will really be thankful. (He has retained nothing except that he recognizes Wes’s voice as that of ā€œthe mature one.ā€) Never stop recording- a family in Virginia depends on you!

    10 Claw Podcast
I recently discovered Tooth & Claw and have been binging the entire back catalog. This show is often the only thing getting me through boring tasks or lousy subway commutes. Each host adds unique value and they balance each other out well. Of the three I probably identify the most with Mike. I admire the way Wes figured out his passion early and stuck with it. And the show wouldn’t be the gem that it is without Jeff, who is absolutely hysterical even if his starburst rating system is flawed. Everyone knows double pink is the best!

    ā€œYou’re not funā€
Agree with those saying the irreverence of the hosts is a bit much. I enjoy the topics but couldn’t stomach finishing an episodes due to the casual misogyny and frankly, immaturity. I guess there’s an audience for that? Gross

    Brotherly Love
Been listening to the show for about a year. The episodes are always entertaining, and I appreciate the camaraderie between all 3 hosts. Last week, Mike and Jeff nailed the top 3 largest snakes and I was so impressed! This week it was Lion vs Tiger, and above all of the arguments please consider this: A King needs to have a kingdom; subjects, an army. Where are these things for the Tiger? Not just saying this from one Jeff to another. I think there were like Lion reigns.

I was hooked on the first episode. I recommend this show to EVERYONE. The guy’s commentary is hilarious and I love learning all the biology. Bears are now my favorite animal. You must give this show a listen.

    Love it!
My older brother recommended this podcast to me. I didn’t think I’d like it as much as I do. I’m pretty terrified of animal ā€œattacks.ā€ This podcast however has started making me feel slightly better about being outdoors and being prepared. I love the dark humor, it’s amazing. This podcast gets me through having to drive an hour to and from post cancer treatment. Definitely recommend!

Didn’t think I would be obsessed with an animal attack show but the guys do a great job of discerning fact from fiction, while inspiring listeners to care about nature!

    I love you guys but
I recommend this podcast constantly, and I’ve even been a patron. but I always add the caveat that it’s too unsympathetic to victims for me. The stories are great and the biology info is so easy to digest. But so often I find the peanut gallery just a little too irreverent when, for example, talking about dead kids.
  • LizCat90
    Love the show!
My brother is five years older than me, but we’ve always bonded over talking about science, particularly animals and their biology. He introduced me to this podcast, and I can’t stop listening. Y’all have given us one more thing to bond over. Thank you; we love the show!

I absolutely love this podcast. All three of them are so fun to listen to on my long drives across the US. The one star reviews are so weird to me. If you don’t like it move on? No need to attack people. It’s their podcast and at this point they’ve been doing it so long you should know they are set in their format.

    Thank you for speaking up!
As someone who recently earned a B.S in Environmental Science and is currently having a tremendously difficult time finding a job due to the hostility of the current political administration…. THANK YOU for taking the time to speak up, and speak out about the damage to the natural world the current administration is causing. Apple only allows one review per podcast, which is kind of lame, so I’ll also take this time to say that I’ve been listening for years and you guys are by far my most favorite podcast. You’ve taught me so much, and I’ve shared so many laughs with you guys. You’ve helped solidify my belief in the natural world and the importance of conservation and got me through some really dark times in college when I was starting to feel like a fraud and questioning if I was going into the right profession. I truly hope I am able to find a job in my field sometime in the future… but with how everything is going…. The direct ATTACKS on the natural world through budget cuts, lay offs, mass firings, and dismantling of incredibly important protection laws, etc… the future is looking rather dire for me at the moment tbh.

    GOAT
My all-time favorite podcast. I’ve really leaned into my animal obsession over the past few years, and these guys have really been a huge part of it. I’m starting to get into birding (thanks for the advice, Jeff!), and I’ve planned a solo trip to swim with whale sharks. When I was a kid, I hated spiders and bugs of all kinds, but I recently found myself following a spider around myself because it was super cool looking (a California jumping red spider). Mike, I also read The Tainted Cup after your review— so, so good.

    Please no politics.
Quit being political. And our country is broke if you were not aware. For years our gov has been printing money we do not have, and horribly irresponsible with our tax dollars. There will be some pain getting through this. Grow up. I am sorry that people you know are impacted. But please do your research and keep politics out of your podcast.

    3 guys and their podcast
I absolutely love these guys. My son got me hooked when we were traveling from Maryland to Tennessee. They are funny, smart, also very cultured and … oh wait - did I mention they are Hilarious. I have started at the beginning (again) and listening to each podcast again. AND I listen to every part - even the ads when I wasn’t a subscriber šŸ˜‚ Keep it up fellas. Y’all are doing great!

    Entertainment at its finest
Love this podcast! My boyfriend thinks I’m funny cause I can’t listen to true crime but will listen to animal attack stories. I find animals way more interesting and easier to understand than humans. Been listening to the podcast for years and appreciate all the information about conservation and fun animals facts I can tell my friends.

    Off putting and immature
Really put off by the laughter and giggling especially when bringing up the autopsy photos of Timothy Treadwell. I just turned it off. Death… no matter how dumb a person is, is never funny.

    Cardboard Box
I love the podcast. It always has interesting stories and great information. Wes has an amazing gift for storytelling. And the cardboard box he reminds me of is the one Homer Simpson thinks Bart turns into when visiting the box factory.

    Great podcast
Wes is just a cool and knowledgeable person & Jeff is hilarious, they work really well together. I’m always expecting a non serious question or statement from Jeff answered seriously by Wes and it gets me every time. (My personal favorite from Jeff being like ā€œSo cover your head with bear spray?ā€ Wes: ā€œNo, don’t do that.ā€ Mike, I’m sure you’re cool too!🤣

    Changed my life
I came to Tooth and Claw through a recommendation from my little sister. Before listening to Tooth and Claw I was DEATHLY afraid of animals and did not like the outdoors. Afraid of dogs off leashes and animals in my backyard. But listening to this podcast has made me realize animals are great and aren’t scary! Inspired by Tooth and Claw, I went to Yellowstone last with a goal to see a bear in the wild and it was the trip of a lifetime and I am no longer afraid of recreating outside surrounded by wildlife. I’m even going to glacier this year! Thank you for teaching how to safely view wildlife and create unforgettable memories without fear.

The Show I Didn’t Plan to Love
I connected to this podcast after their joint episodes with NPAD. I wasn’t sure it was for me but gave it a try, and a year later I’ve listened to every episode. This show has introduced me to several of my other favorite podcasts as well, so thank you all for being willing to collaborate with other creators! I really appreciate the stuff I’ve learned from the show, so thank you for keeping it educational, down-to-earth, and hilarious.
