I really wanted to love this podcast, I’ve been a fan of Amanda for years, but I was pretty disappointed in her interviewing skills. The focus felt very much on her. Someone else mentioned this too, but at a certain point, the guests seem to give up and start asking her questions instead.

SO GOOD!

Is podcasting the future for musicians? I don’t know but I certainly think this form of communication enhances Amanda Palmers message which continually grounds me to the earth and sing praises to the arts.

Love Amanda but her interviewees aren’t really being interviewed. It’s mostly Amanda talking about herself. Too bad.

Listen, I’m a huge Amanda Palmer fan — I think she’s an awesome person. That said, I find this podcast painful to listen to. She talks on and on about herself, to the point where her guests will stop attempting to be the interviewees and will start asking her questions. It very much seems Amanda Palmer is the featured guest on each episode, and the others are there to continue her narrative. It’s cringey and arrogant.

Absolutely love her style, her grace, and her ability to listen to the guests. I highly recommend the episode with Dan Savage ❤️

But Amanda’s podcast is amazing. I’ve been introduced to creative and insightful creators who have brightened my life during this weird insular time. (Like Storm Large?! Hello queen 👋🏻) I’m very thankful 🖤

Been thoroughly enjoying listening to this every week. Amanda is a natural at engaging her guests and her listeners with her thought-provoking questions. The KT Tunstall interview is not to be missed. Sooo good!

Something is so enticing about listening to Amanda spreak. She interviews people so honestly and so smoothly prompts them to spreak more to their experience. Her choice of guests are surprising but fit so well with her messages and personality.

Thank you for facilitating such honest talks about abortion, miscarriage, and motherhood. My heart has broken, I’ve wept, and I’ve exclaimed “YES!!!” out loud while I listen by myself. Thankful for this space, and I look forward to each Tuesday. ❤️

I just listened to the first episode with Elizabeth Lesser and was blown away. I’ve always been a big fan of Amanda’s. But I went looking for, and am listening to, Elizabeth’s book “Cassandra Speaks”. It is outstanding!

I didn’t know I needed that, but boy howdy did I need that! Amanda is a amazing human and I’m honored to have found her and her music 7 years ago! This is going to be a buffet for my catharsis going forward.

I first heard about Amanda Palmer through her book, “The Art of Asking.” This book resonates with me; it’s a book I recommend to everyone I know. Then I heard her music. Her music makes me laugh and cry. I got to see her in Edinburgh a few years ago purely on a chance (I live in the US), and it was the cathartic release I needed. Heard “Voicemail for Jill” there before it was officially named. Gave us some good, as she put it, palette cleansers and sang some of her upbeat songs in between. Anyways, she’s great, and I’m looking forward to the podcast!
