dyuehGreat storytelling, but make it IDEOA fun and cerebral look into the designed systems that have a disproportionate influence on our everyday food choices and how they impact climate change. A human-centered podcast series that weaves together a compelling story from diverse disciplines, zooming into the details that matter and zooming out to help us see the bigger picture.

ducylangExceptional PodcastThis was such a great series of topics and research and conversation starters. Please continue! I’ve learned so much, even though it’s hard to stomach to reality of climate change, this podcast kept me engaged and curious. Thank you!!

igctgthCompact Engaging StorytellingI’m enjoying this podcast so far. It’s a good mixture of facts, context, and stories to bring it all together, in less than 20 min. Also, the podcasts brings curiosity. For example, instead of simply don’t eat beef, they ask how can systems be designed so that those who choose to eat or raise cows can do it sustainably.

A must listen for everyone to better understand our world and our individual role in it from the food we eat, buy, and support! He’s also quite entertaining which makes it easy to binge listen to every single episode :)

dad_cooksTake a Deep DiveThis podcast takes you on a deep dive into the design, function, and results of the food system. It is excellent! As an added bonus it is engaging enough that my 8 year old has been asking if we can listen to “the food system podcast” when we get in the car. Well done!
-

hms0513Super informative stories of food!I never loved loved podcast until this one. This is the only podcast that I’d listen more than 1 episodes a day. When I finish one, I’d get excited for what’d be in the next. Really informative about the food system yet very approachable. I’ve learned so much from this and I couldn’t wait for more. Highly recommend to everyone, not just everyone who’s interested in food. Thank you IDEO!

kenzie129Necessary Listen for Every EaterOne of the best, succinct productions on issues/ideas concerning the food system. Loved hearing from such diverse interviewees! “How might we build a climate positive food system that favors the many instead of the few?”
-
FouryearoldmonkeyExcited for this one! - UPDATE: its good!We need to redesign our food system! Looking forward to listening. UPDATE: Just listened to the first two episodes and they did not disappoint. So illuminating and, as one reviewer said, filled with insight and observations I’ve just not heard before. The human storytelling is incredible too. I want to meet those married soil farmers in Marin! So inspiring. UPDATE: I’m listening to Second Kelpings and I just learned something about kelp that literally made me say WHAT?? out loud in my car. And now I’m a kelp evangelist. UPDATE: Finished the final two episodes and I feel motivated and inspired to work for change. Put me in, coach.

Blatham27Incredibly informative, no matter your backgroundWhether you've never considered the connection between food and climate change, or already work full time at a job that's at the front lines of the issue, you're sure to learning something new from each of these episodes. The host does a great job making complex problems and relationships easier to understand, and the conversation inclusive. Plus, he's got a silky smooth voice that I'd like to narrate all my podcasts.

sanjana___If you’re a human who eats, listen to this podcast.Food by Design is a powerful way to relearn a lot of what we as a species have forgotten in terms of our relationships to our most basic need: food. A solutions-focused series that will captivate and energize you as it highlights age old-wisdom + modern initiatives to (re)build truly sustainable food systems.

kgkxcxThank youWorking in the service industry since 16, I see the disconnect between us and our food. We cherish sharing food with each other and celebrate connecting over a meal. But we don’t know how it got to the table. Thanks for painting a bigger picture.
-
kris-py6Unlike other food podcastsI expected it to be a standard interview show but it’s way more than that. I learned so many things in such a short period of time!

Paul OhhImportant and Necessary Stories to TellGreat and informative podcast that covers a lot of the complex nuances of the food industry from law to cultural. I believe that everyone should listen to this podcast to educate themselves on food and understand how integrated and invisible certain issues are to their daily lives. Great guests/experts as well. Thank you to Sandeep and Sarah for the new listen.

SLB134555Connecting the dots across the food system…Super informative and I love how they’re connecting the dots across different industries and experts…spanning everything from kelp to equity. A must-listen for anyone interested in food or design!

There'sACatOnMyLapEveryone Should ListenSo even though I would consider myself as already being part of the “choir” that a podcast like this is largely preaching to, I still found myself learning a ton (who knew kelp was so flipping’ magical?) and being really inspired by the people who were interviewed in this podcast. I particularly appreciated the focus on restorative agricultural practices and proper attribution to the original Native American practitioners. I think my only wish would be to place even more of a focus on what larger companies should be doing. I use the word “Should” very deliberately, because I think generally companies shift this responsibility largely to consumers and individuals, and this even happens a bit when the host ends several episodes reflecting on his own personal changes. I’d push harder in future episodes to focus more on speakers like the women from General Mills or Bon Appetit, for example. Also, maybe too many cow burps? Other than that I am 100% sharing this with people I know!

calidreaming126Thoughtful insight into the world of foodThis podcast really makes you think about the impact of what you eat, the consequences of cheaper, more convenient food. We need to get the word out and learning/talking about it is the first step. Looking forward to many more episodes!
