If you want to learn all about X-Men without reading the comics this is for you. I’m a huge fan of comics but never the x-men. After reading this podcast I went too my LCS and picked up 5 omnibuses and some single issues. I’m sure my shop is thankful for y’all

I’m super happy to have found this podcast!! Like Alicia, I had never read a comic before in my life (*gasp*) and had only had a marginal understanding of the X-Men from the movies… But that all changed last year when by some external force of nature I stumbled across HoX/PoX and found myself 100% committed to knowing and understanding the Krakoan Age! As I’ve caught up to the Fall of X, I found myself yearning to learn more about the broader X-community and connect with others on this mutant journey Hickman started, and the X-Wife podcast was everything I was looking for and more. Justin’s incredible knowledge of the subject and ability to walk Alicia through both distilled X-Men history and the recent Krakoan Era makes for wonderful listening that perfectly strikes the balance between informal discussion, content, and analysis. Even on a larger whole, this dynamic husband-&-wife duo simply podcast well - a feat that I think is easier said than done - as it’s one of only a handful of podcasts I’ve found wherein I actively enjoy listening and find myself listening to for hours! I’m still in the midst of listening to season 2, but look forward to their many episodes leading to the present. tl;dr: highly recommend for fans of X, new and old - Justin and Alicia are a delight to listen to and bring a wonderful level of analysis to the content and the comic book medium :)

Long time listener of the pod. It’s been amazing to follow Justin and Alicia’s comic reading journey, they have come so far! I really appreciate their enthusiasm and dedication to reviewing all the latest X-Men books. Hope they keep up the good work!!!

I’m a newish listener. I started at episode 1 and got caught up around new years 2024. BTW I agree with Alicia for different reasons. Audio books don’t count as reading. Speaking as a heavy audio book listener who only READS comics.

I got back into X-men with HoX/PoX and without Justin and Alicia I would have never survived! The chemistry between both of them is beyond incredible and the premise of the podcast is outstanding (Justin a lover of comics, Alicia had never read them….at first). Spoiler alert! She converts to a comic lover as well! Alicia is the voice of the audience and I find her saying out loud what’s in my head, but with incredible wit and some laugh out loud one liners that leads amazing banter between Justin and Alicia. Justin is a human X-men database who is patient, kind, curious and an incredible teacher helping make this at times very confusing universe approachable. I use this as my guide to all the issues, read once myself. Then listen and read a second time, it’s the perfect companion!

While I’ve watched a few X-Men movies I’ve never read the comics, so this was a great introduction to this world! Love the way they discuss it in a way that those who don’t know anything can still follow and enjoy while, also, going in depth enough those who know a lot can still learn something! Keep up the great work!

Alicia and Justin are two of the most entertaining and empathetic podcast hosts in the business. They engage their listeners taking their questions and always hearing out a range of views. They treat other podcasters, listeners, and creators alike with respect and dignity, and they have such insightful thoughts on weekly X comics. If you are looking for a podcast with a thoughtful takes on X-men and a deep shared knowledge of the modern X-Men era, this is a fantastic place to start.

This show has been perfect for me! I’m a lifelong X-Men fan, but only just recently got back into reading comics regularly. I needed this kick in the butt to get with the times! The Krakoan era is such a perfect place to get back into the X Men comics, and these two will keep you up to speed while managing to delight along the way!

This is my second favorite podcast behind the house of x! Love how you and Alicia break down the comics. And cannot wait for Alicia to get to the original Inferno!

Start with e01! This could have been “Justin Mansplains the X-Men,” but Alicia’s eagerness to understand takes that off the table right away. She’s at first overwhelmed and confused (me too!), then Justin shines as he methodically but gently connects the dots between the centuries of lore, the current stories, and the distant future, giving us all a more complete context to appreciate what Hickman et al are doing here. Great stuff. All the stars.

(That was my attempt at spelling out the page turn opening to the podcast) I found the X-Men through the ‘92 animated series like a lot of people but very soon after became obsessed with the comics. I also feel like I don’t really have people in my real life to share with so this has been a very cool experience to listen along with and almost feel like a part of the conversation! I can already tell this is THE X-Men related podcast for me and I will be sticking around for the long haul!

I’m living for Alicias reactions. This podcast takes precedence over all others. It’s a must play as soon as soon as it’s posted. I started just a few weeks ago, got caught up and am now stuck anticipating 🤨. There’s so much to cover. Mad props to Justin. It’s not easy to break down All the X-lore for new readers. He’s very patient in explaining all the concepts and really fleshes it out in a way that’s digestible. I’d love to hear Alicia’s reaction to The Phoenix Saga straight through its epic end. It’d be great to know how sees the differences between the movie and the original story but I understand that there’s a method to how these stories are being introduced — The Claremont Run episodes really prepare Alicia and listeners for the House of X Storylines going on now. I trust in Justin. Alicia has gone from “My brain hurts” to obsessively researching and hitting is with knowledge (the meaning of Nimrod 🤯) and drawing Murder Boards. I discovered this podcast after seeing a random tweet about it. The concept of a husband trying to get his wife to read X-Men comic books intrigued me because it hits close to home. It is fun to follow along with them while listening and get insight into things I may not have even realized myself. Listen and be amazed at Justin’s x-ceptional knowledge of X-Men lore! Be entertained by Alicia’s often hilarious reactions while trying to make sense of it all! This podcast is great for every X-Men fan.

This is William. One half of Beacon 76. I recently started to listen to your episodes from the beginning. This has made me want to revisit investing reading time into the comic book world again. Justin, your venturing into a dynamic most husbands don’t dare. Getting their wife interested in comics. Alicia, I feel I’m in the same boat as you learning these deep cut storylines of the X-men universe. You both are doing great so far. Keep up the good work with putting out interesting content. Just started this by a recommendation of a friend who co owns a comic store. Albeit I am a novice when it comes to Xmen I have always loved the characters and stories. So to say the least I am thoroughly intrigued by this series. I admire Justin’s passion of the Xmen lore and Alicia’s curiosity, it makes for a great back and forth between the two. This is a must listen for any new/old-beginner/advanced XMen fan!
