    Season 2 - Please & Thank You!
The Big Payback is an excellent shoe that is both informative and thought provoking. The co-hosts are like peas & carrots and provide the right level of balance on hard and painful topics. Season 2 - Please & Thank You!

    A must listen
Very informative and I appreciate the different perspectives. Really great listen. Hope we can hear more. Thanks for doing this podcast. We need this type of information and discussions about reparations. Itā€™s really shameful that America has not paid reparations to the ancestors of the victims from slavery, Jim Crow era, mass incarceration, and the devastating destruction of thriving Black communities at the hands of white people.

    LOVE IT
I Love having both perspectives of a white person and my sister Erika represented. I love the banter and that Erika unapologetically speaks truth. I love that Whitney is humble, knowledgeable and has a sense of humor. Iā€™m laughing Iā€™m crying Iā€™m learning I am moved and hopeful.

Not surprising tho. If you like listening to people cry about things that never happened to them, while confusing causation and correlation without giving a single source for the claims they are making. I gave an extra star bc the ā€œslave-jive-talkā€ segments are knee slappin good. Only here to say i actually consider the opposing side, i wonder if they can say the same. Spoiler, its mainly the case for. Minimal effort given to explaining why its an absurd proposal.

    Awesome Podcast!!!
I would recommend this podcast to anyone who truly wants to understand reparations.

I was trying to give it a chance
I could only get through the first episode. Erica was so hateful as she spoke with her white counterpart that she lost all credibility. If her goal is revenge then I guess ā€œgood luck!ā€ If itā€™s reconciliation then sheā€™s way off track.

    The best episode yet!
This weekā€™s episode, facing the ugly truth about how entrenched racism is in Americaā€™s society and economy was so powerful. The historical recordings played and Killer Mikeā€™s commentary at the end laid it all out with emotion and depth that is what so many white folks need to hear. Anti-racist work is the only way for our country to be truly free.

This is an accessible repository of brilliant ideas, a deep dive into history, and a tool for those already convinced as well as skeptics who suspect they need to know more. Excellent job! I look forward to the upcoming episodes.

Good content but editing leave something to be desired
I enjoyed learning about the content. I found the stories and perspectives interesting and thought provoking. But, some of the editing and production choices were super weird and distracting. In one, Whitney has a conversation with a mosquito to learn about something. There was no need, it was hokey. Thereā€™s an episode about congressional testimony with awesome content, super important, but they chose to impose obnoxious fake crowd noises behind it to pretend it was a boxing match. For the whole episode. It was a listening nightmare over some really important audio. It was like listening to a high pitch while try to concentrate on important talking. Iā€™ll keep listening. The stories are good and the perspectives are interesting. I just hope the editing gets better. Sorry guys, I donā€™t want to be a naysayer but if you hear something say something. This is a podcast for anti-racists. I hope they continue to a season 2. I would love to hear more interviews. In particular I would love it if they had some reparation supporters explain detailed proposals in future episodes. Finally, Iā€™ve got to be real about something: this podcast feels like 50% ads for AT&T. I can only hear the same ad so many times before hating the company. At least mix up the ads, hearing the same one over and over so many times is maddening, I beg of you.

Can we talk about the Founding Fathers!
Hiding in the shadows are our Founding Fathers of America... itā€™s atrocious how these men who claimed to come together for the betterment of the nation did not include anyone of color when writing this important piece of American History. Not to mention a pretty good amount of these men actually owned slaves. Why is there no coverage on this topic? Is it because the deconstruction of the constitution would mean actual reparations for decedents of slavery? Why are we even still following the constitution? Because the articles with in these papers are completely out of sync with our current world views. We canā€™t change people but we can change policies and legislation. Please speak more on this matter. Otherwise what are we really talking about here. I really do love listening, but itā€™s not the time or place to be nice tell it like it really is. Thanks so much for this.

    Love this podcast
The creative manner that the information and storytelling is done! Given the heaviness of the subject matter they do a great job of levity, honesty and the guests who share their knowledge and expertise.

    Haters Beware
All of the low ratings are from racists. This podcast is excellent and informative. The truth hurts, doesnā€™t it? And that reaction is why people like Donald Trump are a dying breed. R.I.P.

    Hateful?
I came here wanting to learn more about reparations, but couldnā€™t make it through the second episode. The hosts are weirdly hateful towards white people and I donā€™t understand how that solves anything. Trying to do my leg work as a non POC and this isnā€™t the place to get it.
  • GlennWatson
    Interesting but flawed
This is an interesting podcast but I would like to see a stronger white argument. The problem is the man is so obsequious that he is unable to represent white people effectively and the black woman is a millionaire actress who complains that her life is too hard.
  • jmeje
Donā€™t let the bad ratings sway you
This is an excellent and informative dive into many facets of US History and how they relate to reparations. The ā€œscriptedā€ parts may not be everyoneā€™s cup of tea but didnā€™t bother me at all. I guess some people donā€™t like being entertained while also being educated. Also, reviewers who complained about the show not bringing on experts must not have gotten very far into the series. They may not have even listened to the first episode.
  • Slimdickly
    Grateful, but corporate
Great info, compelling story telling, I like that there arenā€™t any punches pulled, almost as much as The Read. But the blurry line between ad and show makes me sad. Like the only way to pull off a show this great and real was as corporate penance. The haters should listen, at least they can take heart in no one giving enough of a flip to even make reparations work as a podcast.

  • Unnamed Source
    Perfect title.
Gimmee gimmee gimmee. Racist black folks and guilty white folks looking for someone else to blame. Thereā€™s no more slavery. Get over it, get out, get working. Stop shooting each other every time you get disrespected. Stop riding every hard shaft in the neighborhood and wondering how you gonna feed yo babies. Stop blaming the white devil and look inwards.

    Racism is racism
Listening to the pandering white co-host is painful enough. Add the content and this podcast is unbearable. The history lesson is tainted by emotion and a desire to not just promote black influence but to ā€œmake this a black nation.ā€ Divisive and clearly racist. Using misleading stats to further a narrative that, admittedly, will do nothing to actually help blacks in America. Really, average white net worth $857,000 more than blacks? SMH. Sounds like all whites are millionaires only because of slavery. A bunch of bunk that fails to even address real problems in society. Empowerment is the answer, not handouts.
  • hazelbnr
    Empathy not sympathy
The inability to put oneself in the shoes of others and have a compassionate understanding of their suffering is not unique to white people, but it looks way worse on us, especially with how obvious and long standing is this blatantly, hateful negligence. Empathy is empowering. Black people do not need sympathy, they need an apology of substantial change, and reparations are a large part of that equation.
  • Bowser165
    Bluntly racist.
Canā€™t beat this in terms of wild radicalizing extremist views on race. Interesting that it hasnā€™t been removed but I guess, according to those who write the rules, this doesnā€™t count as ā€œracismā€...
  • orangefeline128
    F the racist haters
You know a Black podcast is gonna be good when you look at the ratings and all the OBVIOUSLY white one āļø reviewers are big mad. Keep up the great work hosts! They hate seeing themselves painted in the light the deserve and these reviews just prove it. Instead of listening and learning they want us to shut up and ā€œget over itā€ but no, we will not.
  • younghotep
    I love the history
Erika Iā€™m proud of you for keeping the conversation going. One aspect of the debate on reparations I have not invested. Can we get back the taxes we paid into the US system Please interview Shawn Rochester Author of The black Tax 14,000,000 tax payers. Average tax bill 5200 72 billion to 100 billion a year in tax revenue I want my tax dollar to go to advancing the interest of the culture Earl Young MD

Great Podcast, Ignore the negative reviews!
Itā€™s very obvious where the negative reviews come from. Itā€™s very informative and itā€™s history people choose to ignore! Listen and Learn something!

    Informative and important
I appreciate the thoughtful way the content is being shared. I am moved and inspired by Ericaā€™s willingness to educate. I hope white people listen. As a white woman, I am learning a lot about the path towards reparations. Thank you for doing this podcast.
  • RodeRash
    Reaping the towards of citizenship?
I donā€™t understand why you think that citizenship is good. You are doing a podcast about slavery all while declaring you want whatā€™s owed to you as a citizen? Look up the definition of a citizen then decide if you still want to be a slave. What about natives that lost their identities and their land?
  • BigBlackGhost
    Just Okay
Sounds scripted. Seem very elementary as well, ā€œthatā€™s if your black and actually study American historyā€. Hope they bring on experts and historians.

    Good content
The content of the podcast is really good, but I wish they would play music or something under the ads so the transition from content to advertisement isnā€™t so jarring. Also, just my opinion, but the cartoon mosquito voice was too much.

    A racist podcast
A very racist podcast that only further divides Americans.
