old folk friendMay 19, 2022 Fighting to Remember Mississippi BurningI just listened to this episode it was an incredible reminder of a terrible past and very well produced. All the episodes have taught or reminded me of interesting facts, but this episode compelled me to write a review. Thank you

Lee B. in PAVaried and well-reportedI especially liked the episodes about Spam, but every one was worth listening to.

KatieInMinneapolisIn Between pro-life and pro-choiceI listened to the episode with Rebecca. At first I didn’t think I was going to like the episode or where it was headed. But it was excellent and helped me understand how a person could feel so convicted in their prolife stance and ultimately change that. No matter where you stand on Roe V Wade, this episode is a must listen.

dhardGood. But lost interestI’m fan of the producers behind this podcast. But this series just seems like a collection of stories that didn’t make the cut for “Radiolab” because they were either too much of a bummer or they dunked on white people too much. I’m all for challenging listeners and confronting people with hard truths. But once you take people to the bottom of the abyss, you shouldn’t just leave them there.

Lando002Sad to see the show end, but excited for what Julia does nextSuch a great show! I’ve been listening throughout the past year. There were so many excellent episodes, but the Spam series was definitely my favorite. Thank you for such thorough and entertaining reporting.

Family shared - NikProbably the best podcast ever, but unevenThe concept of the show - to explore the American “experiment” - is so compelling, and Julia Longoria is among the top, most talented podcast authors/hosts I’ve listened to. Some episodes absolutely expanded my horizons and educated me, were amazingly well done. A few shows have not been great; whenever an episode is more about the host than the subject, it just loses punch for me completely. I thought I understood the focus of the series when I started with the excellent first episodes but then it became less certain - some seemed very distant from an exploration of the American Experiment. And perhaps some guest hosts/interviewers should have been coached; delivery should not distract from important content. But Julia Longoria was consistently excellent abd amazing, so I really hope this isn’t the last podcast she’ll do!!!

Cook0024So it isn’t soIs it April’s Fool’s???? Listening to today’s podcast and hearing that the Experiment is over is so sad. To find a podcast that is so diverse, interesting, and well researched is a rare gem, but here it is. Julia, you will be missed.

HcaZTaylorPowerful PodcastThis show is always so moving with its stories. Often a realization of how little I know about the history of the US. Masterfully made and produced. I look forward to the new episodes every week.

JuanhooknowsErratic PublishingI really love this podcast with one singular exception. They publish so erratically, without any warning that next Thursday we won’t have a show. Or at least an episode of THEIR show. How hard can it be to give listeners a heads up that the show will return on a future date rather than ambush them with another wretched true crime podcast. Just what the world needs. While I’m sure you appreciate your listeners, this habit of yours comes off as “forget about them, they’ll figure out there’s no new content when they go to listen”.

pkfletcher1“I don’t like Spam”…from a great Monty Python skit……and now I know why-the meat packing industry. Yuk. Enough to make you want to become a vegan for sure. The reporters, writers, musicologists for The Experiment all do a great job. Not their fault if the subject is unpalatable. But wow I learned so much about spam (want to visit that museum in Austin, MN)and a lot about my daughter-in-law’s Philippine heritage. Loved the show!

Simple_SongNot Always UpbeatInteresting and well-researched stories. But be prepared for stories that don’t always have a happy or upbeat ending or spin. The most recent episode I listened to: “An Engineer Tries to Build His Way Out of Tragedy” was rough. I would call it heartfelt and sobering.

Josh from CaliforniaSpamSpam I am! Loved the way podcast worked its way through the eyes of whites, Asians, Latinos. Then I got to Vicks! I should have stopped at El Sueno de Spam.

Jim of Redondo BeachBeing AmericanA podcast that documents that being an American is not easy, requiring open mindedness, sharing ideas and opinions, and respectfulness of others. When news articles often focus on the most destructive actions against our free, open, democratic nation, the podcasts present inspirational actions that truly makes America great.
-
Terrific58HookedI am not a Podcast junkie. As a matter of fact, I rarely listen to an episode of anything. Out of boredom I discovered the 3 episodes about SPAM. I am hooked. I can’t wait to hear other episodes of The EXperiment. I enjoy the pace, the subjects and a different perspective of life.
-
SpamnomoreWow!Man (and woman)will serve (worship and put on a plate or in a bottle) anything that makes them feel good. The story of the strike in the 80s rings true for a lot of strikes going on. I crossed a Pickett line at an army shoe factory in Coastal Georgia. Seems to me as Unions failed our democracy became more corrupt. Same story over and over. The rich find a way to get richer and the poor get poorer. We will never have Peace without love that comes from a Higher Power. Love is the Higher Power. No matter what government we have. I’m rich in spirit but poor by worlds standard.

KtmusicladyThe story of SpamLooking forward to exploring more episodes of this pod, as the Spam series was well done to be both informative and entertaining. Well done!
