cttraceEveryday listenThis is the lone daily podcast that I listen to everyday. That’s largely driven by Rand and I having similar tiers for the local sports teams (Wolves on top, Wild on the bottom). Mondays with Reusse are always enjoyable and inevitably lead to a lol moment. I’d love to hear more HS (bring KB back on!) and St. Thomas sports content.

TaxStangLove it … butI love the show. It’s quality content without the blowhard ego. But it drive me nuts when you and Patrick talk over each other. It’s just painful. The other 4 days are fantastic.

Luke-78My favorite Minnesota Sports PodcastThis is the Readers Digest of Minnesota sports. Always hits the high notes of that particular day. No blowhard guests. Just sensible, articulate, factual insights across the Minnesota sports spectrum. Rand does a terrific job moderating it all. I never miss an episode.

RedCircleGuyGood Lunchtime EntertainmentMost workdays I listen to this during my lunch break. If what Rand is covering does not interest me. I just skip that day and listen the next day. But I am not having to do to much skipping. Check it out. See if you agree. PS. Rand’s episode about legalized sports gambling was epic. Well done Rand.

erinwanzeGood, but….I’m giving the podcast five stars BUT more on women’s sports, please. The latest episode has 20+ minutes on Gopher basketball but nothing on the much more interesting women’s team? Definite room for improvement.

Hyubfyjbi was wrongI thought Michael would struggle to find 30 minutes of engaging content every weekday but I am delighted to have been proven wrong. I am particularly happy when he talks with Chris Hine, Chip Scoggins—and above all—Patrick Reusse. A talented interviewer, he gets the most out of his guests while leavening objective reporting with a nice dash of opinion. I just wish request “Mondays With Reusse” be renamed the What Geniuses with Patrick Reusse segment as any sentence of his that begins with those two words is inevitably hilarious.

Mitch in the Northern TundraReusse is a tough listenLove the show, but Reusse gets on my nerves. He says “unbelievable“ way too often. I don’t like “homerism”, but Reusse gets a perverse pleasure over anything negative the local teams do. And his love affair with Tom Kelly and “Thibs”, what kind of journalist call a head coach “Thibs”? And every story leads back to an old story about Reusse. It’s all about Pat. Too much ego for my taste. I’ve heard Pat on radio and tv for over 50 years. I think he’s trying too hard to be a grumpy old man. And his predictions are awful. If I’d bet the other way on Pat’s gambling picks over the years, I’d be a wealthy man. And Rand apparently doesn’t dare disagree with him on anything.

vibecheck9000Solid podMain host Michael Rand is good, presents generally compelling information and runs the program well. Co-hosts are more variable. Nothing personal, but I also find Reusse unlistenable and can’t really think of any non-geriatric demo that would consider him a value-add.

Glenwood GuyReuseReally enjoy his participation as been a long time reader of his material. Can be a bit sarcastic but it is all humorous. Could get a better phone connections with his appearances.

StephenTaylor20Great PodOne of my favorite podcasts Tuesday-Friday but just can’t stand listening to Reusse do his “old man shouts at cloud” routine every Monday.

jbeckrWell performed podcast but MN sports scene gets oldThis is a well-produced show. What makes me lose interest is MN sports and their fans. Politically correct + “nice” + passive aggressive is hard to take after a while. And Minnesota teams choke in big games more than any other, I swear. Oh, and why so much coverage of the T-wolves? In summary, if the teams they cover were more competitive I would listen more often.

RefsMomImbalance between Wild and Timberwolves coverageI seriously don’t understand Michael’s obsession with the Timberwolves, the NBA’s most impotent franchise in the past 30 years, at the expense of airtime talking about the Wild. This discrepancy was most stark during the 2022 playoffs, when he devoted entire episodes breaking down and dissecting each Timberwolves game during their series with Memphis. When the Wild made their appearance, he would spend maybe half of each episode talking about each game the morning after but would move on to other topics. Now that we’ve turned the page to the 2022-2023 season, the discrepancy has continued. Not like the Wild are the NHL’s most accomplished franchise, but this discrepancy really stands out in a hockey-mad market like the Twin Cities, especially in light of the Timberwolves’ complete ineptitude.

'sota fanGreat podcast | Needs to drop ReusseGreat podcast Tuesday through Friday. Rand is a wonderful host. Great insights and opinions on local and national sports scene. He does a really nice job of balancing both local and national angles and is always interesting. The only downside of the podcast is local columnist Patrick Reusse as a guest every Monday, which makes Mondays a great challenge to listen to. Reusse’s words applied to himself: “Gawd, here’s terrible!” Reusse is overwhelmingly negative about everything, with little insight beyond “terrible” or “stupid.” Hopefully Rand shakes up the order and drops Reusse as a weekly guest.

Eric JoehlLazy Gopher coverageBetter options if you’re looking for gopher sports coverage. Their takes are derivative at best, uninformed at worst.

MrSteveTheGuyRand is SolidMichael Rand is solid, I love the show and the guests he has on. Phil Miller is for the birds however.

rydleyClear-eyed for the sports guy (and gal!)Have been listening since the start and it’s now one of my daily faves. As others have said, it’s short and sweet but still substantive. I feel like I get a comprehensive look at the local sports scene, along with comments on relevant national happenings, with well-informed deep dives into a revolving lineup of local teams/sports from Strib sportswriters. (Hearing the Strib sports staff has made me appreciate them all the more as they seem to be a talented, engaging group.) Rand doesn’t rely on schtick but is instead clear-eyed and realistic without being too cynical. Like all Minnesota fans, he’s a probably a fatalist at heart but that doesn’t stop him from being able to enjoy the sports he loves most and his passion and good humor add a lot to the podcast.

McGive_It_To_MeIt’s alrightI like it, but the gangsta rap bumper music doesn’t match the show at all. It gets me in the mood to start hearing somebody spitting about dog fighting or killing firefighters or something then all of a sudden Rand’s talking about Gopher football.

Butterfield-OdinTwins/Vikings/Wild/Timberwolves/United/Lynx/High School/College/etc.If you are a fan of any Minnesota sport, check this out. He hits them all. Great interviews to take it to the next level with experts and insiders. Perfect length, no filler. Just pure, well delivered sports news and insight for the championship deprived Minnesota faithful. Good stuff.

LBWE87373Daily DeliveryExcellent podcast. What I like most is that the host gets to the point quickly. The show moves at a good pace, makes his points, then moves to the next topic. Minnesota has needed a podcast to cover Minnesota sports, in general, like this for a long time. Keep up the excellent work!
-
LongsufferingMNfanGreat JobThanks for this. Really really good content with great guests. Way better than your “try hard” competition except for Doogie who I also like. This podcast actually drives me to your paper too. I dropped St. Paul paper but am wanting to subscribe to Trib. Keep up the great work.

DC9754Loving thisThis is such a great addition to the Minnesota sports podcast landscape. I love pods that focus on a specific MN team or sport, but it will be nice to have one that covers them all - through short snippets and quick talkers. I love that it's daily too. Rand is the perfect host for this too - good mix of funny, doesn't take himself too seriously, but has a good pulse on Minnesota sports and what makes the players and coaches tick. Excited for this!
