Parenting #210

Your child is autistic, now what? Parenting a child is often rewarding, but for parents of autistic children, it can be a struggle when communication, finances, or behavior is a barrier. Join hosts Lia & Matt McCabe, an Autistic & ADHD couple raising two autistic daughters and the founders of the charity project AutismWish, in weekly discussions to provide parents with guidance, tips, resources, and a newfound perspective on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD). Each week we will share our experience raising special needs children and tackle difficult or taboo subjects in the Autism world with encouragement and guidance on how to broaden your perspective while learning to understand and empathize with your autistic child, from weathering the storm to Embracing Autism. Embrace and support
What a great way to include those who are embracing autism into their lives. The amount of effort to support others in this process is incredible.

    Very informative!
My daughter was just recently diagnosed with Autism. The episodes I have listened to have been very helpful. Especially since everything is new to us. She is our only child and has only just turned 4 December 10. So parenting in and of itself we are still learning. This podcast has helped me understand in many ways how I can help her in the ways she may need it but may not be able to tell me

A must listen to for understanding autism
I recently discovered the Embracing Autism Podcast, and I can’t recommend it enough! The hosts bring such a warm and welcoming energy to each episode, making it easy to connect with the topics discussed. They cover a wide range of subjects related to autism, from personal stories and experiences to expert interviews and practical tips for families and individuals on the spectrum.

    Awesome resource for neurodivergent families!
I’ve been listening to the podcast since my child got diagnosed in fall 2021 & have recommended this podcast along with embracing autism an a resource to new families I meet. It’s been even more helpful to me over the last few months, with my child’s dual diagnosis of autism and adhd & being able to listen to their amazing advice and guests on the podcast have been incredible helpful to us during our journey 💙

    Great resource
My son is 5 he is nonverbal autistic and as his mother I’m always looking for resources to help me learn more about his diagnosis and how I can better help my son to thrive. As his parent I need to learn ways to support him and I need support as well. This podcast helps me so much with educating myself and gives me a feeling of support during this sometimes scary and isolating journey

I loved listening to this Podcast! Hearing from parents who are sharing their experiences is super informative and relatable. I love to hear parents who are on the same page and working together to navigate life as they make sure they and their kids have everything they need to have full and meaningful lives, regardless of an ASD diagnosis.💜

As a autism mom, the journey is tough, but it is a blessing me and my son use these words every single day since we found out he was autistic at seven. He is now 16 and we say we are stronger than our struggles got over everything. Thank you and God bless.

    Embracing Autism
I love that this podcast has so much information and spreading knowledge of autism. It’s not a disability but a different ability. I have an 8 year old autistic son and yet he’s different from so others. Same diagnosis but different symptoms and signs it’s so helpful for family especially to learn more. We can tell them but doing the research and looking into it makes it a lot easy and understandable
  • ebbyfreeze
    Very relatable and informative podcast
I enjoyed the reminders and tips on how to encourage our kids strengths and to remain the lighthouse that they can come to for calm and stability in a world that constantly reminds us of our weaknesses.

    Mom
Very interesting pod cast. I actually had this happen to me as far as being tested for the gifted program. He didn’t succeed and I was so let down for him, but I know he is super smart. I believe that his neurodivergent brain knows what was on the test he just could connect with the answers. My son is a complete protectionist.
