Dan7283849So good!Such a powerful way to relay generational trauma. Great actors and sound effects as well.

Chellington Bellsworthi relisten at least twice a yearI love almost everything qcode does and this is one of my top five. The season 1 finale was such an unexpected turn and so moving. It really leaned into the power of storytelling and world building that takes place in fiction podcasts. The first time i listened to the first eps of s2, i was silently weeping doing stock work, grappling with all the things stolen from black and brown people on American soil, in the name of greed and “because i can.” Everyone involved in this is very good at their jobs and I’m really proud of y'all.
-
giakellyReally enjoyedI binged this at work, didn’t intend too. Very good kept me listening 😊
-
rollclonesMehBack story was way more interesting than the actual story.
-
monique schulzSet the bar highThe story line was not my usual genre, but who could not love this show? The acting, writing, suspense, the creepy kid… perfect! Thank you for the great entertainment and I hope the entire crew creates together in the future!
-
MissSarahSpeaksGreat Show! Far more touching than I expected! This was a fabulously plotted series and the character acting was superb! I highly recommend this for fans of thoughtful horror.
-
VDJ200I know y’all didn’t put commercials in this showI have the subscription???? Why commercials. Great story so far, annoyed with the break of immersion especially when I’m a paid subscriber.
-
ahappierpersonthanmarcAmazing story telling. One of the best listens. Great storytelling.
-
FlyersNfilliesGreat showWas a real good show. Well put together and great acting. Kept you wanting more. Like a lot of Qcode shows it kept you waiting for the next episode. Great.
-
mono bbADDICTED TO THIS SHOWAbsolutely hooks you in at the start and never let’s go! The writing, pacing, and voice cast are all fantastic. I am so eagerly awaiting more and in the meantime I’m recommending this to everyone I know.

yung barnacleReally just okay…The slave episodes really took me out of the story… they felt forced and we’re not integrated well. The plot as whole isn’t too original and the characters… are well developed.. the ending was.. really just okay. I can’t express just how okay of a story podcast it was. It wasn’t bad.. but it wasn’t great. I wouldn’t go recommending it to anyone.
-
magwvuHooked from the beginningI’ve listened to several QCode podcasts, and this has been my favorite. The story was well-planned and kept me engaged from the first episode.
-
Quin210RacismStarted off very good, but as a black man I didn’t like the racism and demonization of a black man who was a slave and family was slaughtered by white slave owners. Just a heads up if you’re Black American it was very of triggering… it’s crazy because they’ll never make these type of disrespectful stories about the Jewish holocaust… but you guys seem to love disrespecting us…

clooneythescourgeOne of qcodes bestVery creepy engaging story .
-
klassieinkaKeeps you listening but is a little all over the placeI kept listening but it seemed like the story just kept dragging and was all over the place with the story line and characters. Was difficult to really understand what they were trying to capture. A bit cheesy
-
mjpboneGood enough to finish but lots of fillerIt started great. Loved the concept and loved how well it was presented. I found myself hoping it could be turned into a movie. And then came the back story from the slave era. Those episodes were so long, so boring, and so needless. I didn’t need that deep of a backstory. And in fact, didn’t even like how it tied in with burned photo. By the end, there were times I didn’t know what the heck was even going on. The backstory episodes were just hard to focus on and by the time it returned to present day, I had stopped caring

Anom652147Highly original, phenomenal at times, but with caveatsAn engaging mix of time periods (contemporary and slavery era) and genres (sci-fi/fantasy elements in the 1800s), portraying a story about a curse deriving from the sins of the father, so to speak. An excellent premise somewhat hampered by a protagonist with a nasal-y (like she has a cold?) voice that begins to grate as season 1 just gets too long with episodes around 40 minutes each. When the story begins to shift to the past, the magic happens, rich with history, new voices with New Orleans or Southern accents, nice sound effects, etc, and a mysterious extraterrestrial discovery. A gripping story, however, not one I was able to binge without breaks due to my issue with the main voice actor. I did end up fast-forwarding through some sections as well. The problem is probably not isolated to the voice actor but to her character as well as the pacing of the story and how it probably should have shifted perspectives more. I do still recommend due to the originality and some great sound effects.

Noe M-Jr.The man from NowwhereI loved this, really great story Where do I find more

Jlp198429MehThis was my least favorite QCODE story I’ve listened to so far.The main characters voice was slightly irritating, and as someone previously mentioned – the way she pronounced certain words ie: Chantel = Jahn-tul, or drawing = draw-ring… made me cringe too.The story was just honestly kind of all over the place, there were two times throughout listening that I was like, ‘wait –Am I listening to a different podcast?’The monster voice and sound effects were kind of cheesy, overall I think the whole story was just kind of cheesy. I listen to the whole thing to see what happened, and it never really got any better. Wouldn’t recommend

Viper529Incredible 👍🏻Another hit under the Qcode umbrella! This is deep story writing. Incredible for the theatre of the mind, but would be even awesome as a movie or series!
-
EguysWOW! NO SHAME!Qcode is like all the rest of the woke folk, making thier political rants, not giving a F**** what a segment of thier listening audiance cares about. For instance, when the main character is asked who the current president is, they give their answer and then say a negative at the end, and both she and the doctor laugh. Delete. Im done with this series and all of Qcode. Good riddance.
-
AshMuffGreat show but TW for Black AmericansReally enjoyed this podcast. But without giving anything away parts of the story take place in 1800s southern USA centered around an enslaved man. Some very realistic conversations and violence occur so just be prepared
-
mads12222Wow!I am addicted, Crazy good but yet easy to follow, I was so sad when I saw season one ended but then season 2!!
-
mattsmith0622Such a great show!I followed this show ages ago and never listened. Really glad I finally got around to it. One of the best shows I’ve listened to, ever. Really well written, amazing story, solid voice actors. Well done!
-
peacemama101Completely Hooked!!This story has me at the edge of my seat. I’m loving every second of it and I’m only half way through season 1 .
-
Neens_21ChantalllllMan everytime she would Chantal it would make me cringe lol but a pretty good story. Season 1 ends on a nasty cliff hanger
-
Nrwy1988Hauntingly good. From the beginning the story pulls you in. The b story is so incredibly intimate that I felt as if I were intruding on a conversation. Yes there are points of confusion but that’s the way it is!
-
Annalee.98Good to listen at boring jobLove it ! Loved the mystery and suspense.. it really kept me awake and entertained at work . I i wished there was more
-
MiMi.328xiUnsubscribedThere definitely seemed like a lot was going on but I was honestly bored midway thru season one. I was curious to see how it was going to end so I listened into season 2. Midway thru episode 4, I just couldn’t follow it any more. I guess I was hoping for more from the story line. I understand the attempt at being historically correct but I was also VERY offended by some of the language.
-
BertwellEpisode 5 ending is worth a laughThe shows great. Actresses are amazing. End of episode 5 is the moment I got ripped out of it. Definitely will finish, but I’ll remember this moment for the rest of my life
-
angelitAngel4shortGreat ride to go on.This podcast was a real fun listen. The creative influence is surprising as you go down the road, but the story itself is a good one. Not like anything you’ve heard before. Definitely recommend to anyone that enjoys supernatural, and even has a mystery element to it as well.
-
skullpunchLoved itLoved it

kgappraiserEngaging and addictingThis one is a really fun ride. Very well done great storyline love how it all tied together

UrfavoritebrandSpeechlessAbsolutely amazing story…..

callmechrisMore Alfons/CashI really enjoyed the first season, and agree with other reviewers that the Alfons/Cash storyline was really good. The ending did feel a bit rushed, but I wasn’t that mad about it as it was a good story overall and kept my mind busy during my walks.
-
byze2000Great podcastI started listening to this while at work instead of music while I worked. I listen to it on the ride home and got comfortable at home listening to it as well. A few times I forgot it was audio only and ran to the tv to watch it only to remember, dang it’s audio.
-
MiKrummSuch a fantastic creepy podcast.I don’t want to give away any spoilers and so I can’t really give much detail. Part of the mystery is finding out even enough info to say what’s similar to it. But it’s a great dark and well written podcast. I was a bit iffy with the first two episodes but enjoyed it enough to remain and quickly was really caught up in the story. It’s definitely one I’ll recommend to others. I actually just sent the link to my fiancée. I am looking forward to her listening to it so we can talk about it. Top notch horror.
-
KimKatMatGreat podcastGreat podcast kept me on the edge of my seat. I love dark thrilling stories like this. Great sounds and actors. Quality experience.
-
WaynestaticluvaUghLoved the first season but the second season bores me to death. I’ve tried to like it but I have many other podcasts to listen to that interest me better. Goodbye!
-
Tb444Eh. Solidly okay.I don’t regret listening to it, but the story line is just so convoluted. In fact, the best episodes were the ones which didn’t involve any of the series regulars (the Cash/Alfons story). And then the series finale left a lot to be desired, like they didn’t remember they needed to wrap up the story until they were writing that last episode. I could essentially just listen to only the first and last episode for the same payoff.
-
Rebecca.riotI wanted to love itA riveting story with so many ends to tie up that the conclusion feels incomplete and unsatisfying. So much violence to tolerate for this ending to feel worth it. The historical racial violence and language in and of itself was so disturbing you think more thought and energy would have gone into an ending that would do it justice, but it just doesn’t. I felt compassion for the characters and was drawn into the story and that is WHY I find the ending falls short. What happened to the man interviewing Alphonse? Why bring him in and have it go nowhere? That could have been a rich terrain to explore further? What happened to Abraham? Why did Kira have such a weird subplot with so many holes? Why bring in characters just to largely ignore them? Too many questions left unanswered that just didn’t do this story justice.
-
LorraineEC2nd season finale was a letdownA letdown for sure. They shouldn’t have ended on that note. Kira’s storyline grew boring long ago. They should have gone back to or included a finale for Cash, Alphonse and their families. Was the note found? What happened? What did it state? Was there a record of everything Abraham went through? Lots of loose ends that they didn’t tie up.

danyaxo25AwesomeGot hooked into this story so fast! Just finished soft voice and clicked on this one to try it out can’t wait to hear more!
-
StephdeeZieGreat storyThis was honestly a captivating story. I hung on to every word. The characters were amazing! I hope they come out with another. And after I listened to season 1 I couldn’t wait for season 2!!! One question -spoiler alert though- did they guy interviewing the old man ever find that letter???
-
allienicoleLoved the storyI truly did love the story. I just wish the second season had a better conclusion. I feel like it was a bit of a let down and happened so randomly. Dont get me wrong it’s a great story, I’m just personally not satisfied with how it ended.
-
XceviorOh my! Can’t believe it’s over.I do not like serial podcasts…but this one…awesome (if that is the right word). Ready for the subscription TV show. Soooooooo good! Me sad it’s over!
-
RookϛGreat, loved the detailThis is my first review and I needed to do this. Please make more, this was excellent and I love that the energy you put into this shows. Great great job. Please more
-
isaaclopediaLosing steamStarted to get predictable in the second season. The time jump episode was good for one, maybe two, eps but became way too much exposition
-
tuvok23Definitely worth 5 stars!I think it’s a load of crap to not give an obviously 5 star podcast, 5 stars. It’s not a scary podcast, but definitely a thriller. It’s about a curse that is killing off the direct descendants of four families that did some dirt in the past. The background episodes about Dr Joachim are probably the best part as they add a whole new dimension other than “scary monster” and an actual backstory as to why this all is actually happening. I did pay for qcode+ because I needed answers and while the last episode isn’t up yet, the ending does become predictable once you find out the origin of the curse. Of course I am just guessing and I don’t want to give any spoilers, but I am 100% addicted!
