    Love letter to the fans
I only stumbled upon this podcast on my search to understand how they transformed Nicks character into some evil villain so quickly. I’m so glad I found this podcast because it gave me peace in knowing I wasn’t crazy for being absolutely devastated at how they butchered his story line lol. This was the real love letter to the fans.

    Great find!
I found this during season 6 and oh boy I’m glad I did. It was my weekly HMT therapy session that I needed badly. I hope to follow other shows in the future. Thank you for the amazing breakdown of each episode, very well done!

    Thank you!
It’s been a joy to hear your thoughts and analysis on every episode. There are times I think you know these characters better than the folks in the writers room.

    Amazing dedication
I’m so thankful for having found a podcast that dives deeply into this show and the complicated nuances of the characters. Also one that has given those that work behind the scenes a space to share how they bring this show to life. It’s a shame to see people criticizing and disrespecting the hours these ladies have dedicated to this show simply because their well researched analysis isn’t the same.

Seriously, the relief this podcast episode provided has meant so much.
Thank you. So much. Deliberately, I chose to not carefully watch HT season 6 without first knowing how the characters would be treated—because I love the books, I have liked much about the series, and I know that sticking that final season landing apparently can be a challenging thing. Also, I had a weird feeling and am wary of random, inexplicable programmatic surprises after years of emotional and time investment spent. But, of course, I’ve been taking episodic peeks because the temptation was just too great. In those sneak peeks, I was immediately concerned by the odd direction in which Nick’s character was being twisted/retconned/hijacked with no explanation why, but I wanted to believe the result would be an awkwardly executed but ultimately worthwhile “landing” that honored the Nick that I’ve been watching for many years now. Then…S6E9…my heart fell in shock. Confusion. And to be told that I’d had it wrong about him the whole time? About his relationship with June?Umm, no. As expressed in this episode, I know what gaslighting feels like, and this was definitely that, from the writing itself to the way the cast, except MM, contorted the situation to better fit/defend the selected narrative, which was perhaps done for the sake of convenience/simplicity? This was so disrespectful to Nick’s character, the way MM portrayed Nick this entire time, and the show’s fans. It was also an insult to those fans’ intelligences. That cruel tug of that rug out from under us? Brutal, belittling, and hurtful. I now refuse to watch anything else related to this show, and I’m sticking strictly to the character portrayals depicted in Margaret Atwood’s books (Okay, maybe HT season 1 still is okay. Maybe. Still thinking about it.) The sum of this show’s parts had such potential. Now, as far as I’m concerned, it might as well have been another passenger on that ridiculous plane.

    Wow
Wow. I can’t believe some of these reviews. These girls have given us YEARS of quality content, episode breakdowns, interviews and banter just for some angry mob to come and throw insults. You dont have to agree with peoples opinions over a FICTIONAL TV SHOW, but trashing them merely for different interpretations is wild. They are not congress or a political appointees they are podcasts hosts to bring us entertainment and help us break down a complex show. Ladies- thank you for years of engaging content. I appreciate your thorough discussions. Even when I don’t agree- I still love the thoughtful discourse. Don’t let the Nick haters grind you down.

    The best Handmaids tale Podcast!
I love their synopsis and analysis of each episode! It’s great to listen to after each episode to go through all the details. I especially like that each woman on the show comes from different parts of the country and world giving different perspectives! I highly recommend to all Handmaids fans!

    Great Podcast!
Been listening since the beginning and love the thorough analysis of the episodes.

    Awesome work!
This is by far the best Handmaid’s Tale podcast. These ladies and their attention to detail and symbolism throughout the show is really good. I’ve picked up on things I never would have thought of otherwise. They validate my love for the romance aspect of the show. They empower me to speak up for what I believe in.

    New listener
For starters, I appreciate that the podcasters on ATG have read the book. Also, I love that they can recollect past seasons/plots that connect to current storylines for Season 6. I applaud the ATG ladies for their conviction in how poor some of the character development and plots are turning out this final season. Isn’t the point of podcasting to share opinions? Loyal fans are allowed to feel let down and disconnected from a show they previously loved.

    The Absolute Best
I feel so seen and understood as a listener of this podcast. With everything that has taken place in the recent episodes, I felt unwanted in some spaces, that were previously very positive and respectful. Thank you taking the time to dissect why some characters deserved better and holding space for those who agree with your takes. I appreciate you all so much!

Essential listening, not just for Nick and June fans, but anyone truly serious about the ins and outs of the Handmaid’s Tale. The ensemble podcasters deep dive into every scene from every episode from the beginning through to the end of the series. Also included are interviews with your favorite actors from the show including Elisabeth Moss, and show runner for many seasons, Bruce Miller. You’ll also find conversations with directors, DPs, set, costume, sound, hair & makeup, and production designers. They are thorough, they are funny, and as Bruce Miller proclaimed himself, they are smart! I learned so much not just about the story, but what it takes to produce a show like the Handmaid’s Tale. Brava, ladies!

    NOT a “fangirling” show
This pod is for thoughtful, nerdy people who are fans of the book and love deep dives. I thought this pod was going to be just a bunch of gushing about Nick Blaine. Turns out, this show is SO much more. In actuality, it is a thoughtful, textual analysis of the show in the tradition of media studies—that just happens to treat Nick as an interesting, nuanced character. It is not a bunch of silly “fangirls” (a lowkey misogynist accusation anyway) but a diverse group of mothers, academics, doctors, and other professionals hailing from around the world—mostly in their 30’s and 40’s, with rich experiences and relationships that they draw on in their analysis. One of them has herself escaped an authoritarian state. Their diversity is reflected in the range of perspectives that they bring to their deep dives on the visual symbolism that is peppered throughout the show, and technical components such as cinematography and scoring. They have interviewed several major cast and crew members. In season 6, they were given access to the set and a trailer on set to facilitate interviews. They would never have been given that kind of access if they weren’t producing what the showrunners felt was high quality content. If you only have time for one Handmaids pod, it should be this one.

    Great analysis!
I’ve been following this podcast since launch and they continue to provide such wonderful content! The growth they have had since their beginning is wonderful to see. They analyze the show from every angle and are honest in their reviews. Their podcast has resonated with hundreds of thousands of fans across the world and is the most shared podcast within the fandom.

    Thank you
Handmaid’s Tale is a difficult watch so this podcast has been an incredible support to me after watching the episodes, especially the last few of season 6. It reassured my thoughts of the series. And I have to agree with their analysis and interpretation. These are smart women who identify the ramifications and consequences of how handmaids ultimately tells its story. Thank you for making me feel less alone.

Such a thoughtful, analytical and well done podcast! This is a must listen if you watch The Handmaids Tale!!

    Fascist Lovers
If you ever wanted to know where these ladies would’ve stood in a fascist regime, it would’ve been behind their N*** men, swearing that they were “one of the good ones”. For real, it’s pathetic to throw a tantrum over a fictional character who turned out differently than you hoped. He made his decision to stay in Gilead a long time ago, and yet you all keep wanting to “see” him being a bad guy. He’s a COMMANDER - that’s all you need to know! Get a grip, yall!
  • Shellzzer
    So. Much. Complaining.
If you hate everything about the show, why watch it?

    I love you girls!
I have recently started at the beginning and have listened to this podcast as well as going back and watching the episodes over. I love that each person of this podcast has a different view of the episodes. I am a nick and June shipper. I am so sad that this show is coming to an end so soon. Thanks for your service ladies!

Maybe watch the episode more than once
I feel like they didn’t even watch the same show I did.

    Love Podcast Yet Too Much….
Team, thank you for being so passionate about your reviews. In your last podcast from S6E7 you focused on Nick. Makes sense. S6E8 you are still talking in detail about Nick yet so much more is happening with other people. I get it. I ship certain couples too. It just feels excessive as every other sentence turns back to Nick and it would be better to provide a more well-rounded update in my humble opinion. And please don’t say “if you don’t like it, go listen to another podcast” as that’s not very nice when people have actually been supportive of your podcast.
  • Christina1010108
    Tantrum
Wow a legitimate tantrum over Nick maybe not actually being that good of a guy. The reaches citing the political climate and feminism as reasons the show shouldn’t have taken this turn are BIG. Their reaction is ironic since it does actually echo the political climate in many ways- no accountability for how your actions hurt others. Nick’s previous “good” actions do not absolve him of giving up the rebel plot or how that led to the massacre of the women at Jezebels. If there’s N*** at the table and ten other people sitting there talking to him, you got a table with eleven N***s. That’s Nick.

    Enjoying the thoughts
I resisted watching The Handmaid’s Tale but in the current political climate I thought I’d better watch. Terrifying! I do enjoy hearing other’s opinions and thoughts to hear if I was on the right track. I’m in season 3. Recorded in summer of 2022. There are 2 things that can make me turn it off - 1 is vocal fry/mumble mouth. 2 is hard to hear and/or understand. One speaker needs to slow down her speaking and use inflection. Another speaker needs a better connection. Not clear connection and also has a heavy accent. Here’s hoping that this all improves because I like the discussion a lot.

Stick to the episode you’re reviewing!
With the show coming back, I wanted to find a good rewatch podcast to refresh myself on everything from start to finish—in order. I started listening to season one episode one, but all they’re doing is talking about how attracted they are to Nick and everything that’s going on in season four. I kept double checking to make sure I was on the right episode of the podcast. Why are we talking about Hannah, Nick, and Fred’s death? I’m really hoping this gets better.

    LOVE!!
Loveeee this podcast! These are true fans that know their stuff! 💯

    Nick fan girls
These girls just worship and adore Nick. They are so annoying and their analysis is so bias too. I had to stop listening after a few episodes.

    LOVE
Just discovered this one through their other podcast and I’m SO EXCITED! I used to really love The Handmaids Tale so I’m looking forward to revisiting it with them. The interviews so far have been SO good!

    Great Pod Cast Period!
ATG is my absolute favorite pod cast! This is the only pod cast that I listen to faithfully. All the ladies are on the same page as me and it is the best HMT cast out there. I will watch an episode and listen as soon as they release. I absolutely recommend for any HMT fans out there.
  • Aprilteach76
    Great analysis
These ladies give great attention to detail and thoughtful analysis. They manage to notice things I would have never noticed and go in-depth instead of just glossing over. I tried listening to other handmaids shows, but none compare to this! Great job

    Enunciate and Slow Down!
I actually really enjoy this podcast even though I think Nick is a crashing bore and in my mind I refer to him as Ofjune. The banter and insight each host offers is fun and they often point out parts of the episode I would have missed by myself. It makes the rewatch of each episode much more enjoyable. My biggest criticism is that the person who does the recaps speaks incredibly fast and I can’t understand a word she is saying. This is a speech pattern of a lot of young women in the US today. Please take a breath during your sentences…and slow down instead ofrunningeverywordtogetherbecauseitmakesyouhardtoundersrand

    Best THT podcast out there
I’ve listened to and enjoyed all the Handmaid’s podcasts but none of them even compare to this one. You can tell these ladies are not only super fans of show itself but also passionate about every aspect and detail that goes into it. They are incredibly insightful, emotionally intelligent, and so enjoyable to listen to. Amazing job ladies! Can’t wait for your coverage of season 5.

    Exactly what I needed!
Honestly couldn’t even imagine a more perfect THT podcast! A whole group of super fans who are pro-Nick Blaine talking about my all time favorite show — exactly my cup of tea. I love how they have spoiler-free and deep dives for long haul fans for every episode. I’m loving it!
