    please stop
love this podcast but the latest episode on swing states was so hard to listen to as a nevadan. learn how to pronounce nevada PLEASE!!! you sound dumb. also nevada and arizona are not “the south” and georgia and north carolina are not “the sunbelt”. those are not interchangeable.

    Excellent
Jonathan Freedland is simply one of the best and most insightful political commentators around. Politics is seldom nuanced, but Freedland sifts through the shock tactics and soundbites to find a balanced and realistic view.

Propublica just broke this story of their investigation: Trump is using his media company to allow rich donors to buy a piece of Trump and reap the benefits in the form of government contracts and tax breaks if he gets elected again. The investigative reporting connects the new “Trump TV” to a streaming technology company in Melania’s home country (Slovenia) and to a rich Republican donor who had made millions off his relationship with Trump already.

    Would give five stars, but…
I understand the need to seem neutral when presenting the news, but Ronna McDaniel shouldn’t be able to catch a break, she was (and still is) an election denier! One doesn’t have to actually believe something as baseless as tRump’s pathetic, self serving Big Lie about the 2020 election, propagating such devastating propaganda in an effort to destroy America Democracy makes one an election denier. This lady, like so many in the Tangerine Tyrant’s wake, is a grifter and a con. Woe America if these monsters return to the White House, retain the House and pick up the Senate. The rest of the Free World better watch out, MAGA ‘MERICA has a very real possibility of returning, this time WITH A VENGEANCE!!! Sad thing is, I’m not joking… Anywho, great show otherwise!

    Easy listening!
Jonathan Freedman keeps this show moving at a goodly pace, hence it is rarely dull and nearly aways ends up with me wanting more. The guests are of a high caliber and the conversations seem thoughtful and calm. If you’re having a tricky time coping with NPR’s so like totally overwhelmingly gnarly vocal fry and excruciating tones of feigned compassion, then this slice of the ol’ Grauniad may offer some welcome relief.

Guardian balanced look at US politics
It’s so interesting to listen to the in depth conversations and great questions posed in the podcast. I trust the Guardian and enjoy this podcast a lot. It’d be great to even more hear more about the world’s take on the US’ politics.

    Excellent analysis - thanks!
I find the Guardian journalists bring the analysis to higher ground. The detail is good and the interviews include many voices. I live in Hawaii, and have been looking for a variety of sources; I will keep listening.

    Favorite Podcast
I can’t say enough about how fabulous this podcast is. Jonathan Freedland is superb, and his guests are among the most knowledgeable. Such a refreshing change from most of US podcasts which are heavy on bluster and hype.

The host covers all the breaking topics in depth and in a format which allows me to be able to do other things while getting up to date information.

    Same old same old
Listening to the most recent episode with William Kristol re: republican debates. I was hoping for something interesting here but it feels like all American news coverage. Nothing new, repeating what everyone already knows. Waste of time. I expect more from The Guardian. 2 stars for trying.

    Podcast About Debt Ceiling Deal
Absolutely awful podcast with almost zero political insight beyond the very pedestrian and juvenile analysis. There was nothing about the Democrats’ political failure to deal with the debt ceiling in 2021. The “journalist” showed a profound misunderstanding of the funding mechanism of social security and Medicare. Normally, this is among the better political podcasts. This one? Awful. I WOULD like to caveat my review. The best part of the podcast is it’s at least center left. The right-wing “viewpoint” has no business in legitimate news because there are no legitimate “conservative” viewpoints. Simply stated, nobody can point to anything the right has done that has benefitted anyone other than white, upper class, bigots, and racists. It simply isn’t there. The best thing about not having to deal with Ofcon, or any other British “regulator,” is that there is no forced “impartiality.” Generally, there is the left or center left which is factual and anything which is right of center which is synonymous with lies, ignorance, and downright stupidity. My problem with this podcast is not that they don’t get it correct and truthful. It’s that the people they have on generally only have shallow knowledge of the subject matter. Too often they have journalists to talk about subjects rather than actual people in any given field.

20 years after the Iraq War
Jonathan-there was a large sector of Americans who were against Bush’s Iraq war. In NYC, where we were attacked on September 11th, we held mass protests that were largely ignored by the U.S. media. I remember one protest that had a parade of protesters that lasted hours marching from Central Park to Wall Street. The media (NYT, the New Republic, etc.) ignored the New York protesters against Iraq.

a view of the US across the pond
sometimes fascinating, sometimes disturbing, but all with a fresh perspective and a British accent!

    Incredibly One-sided Point of View
So disappointed … was hoping this would be different than the mostly biased news coverage we have in the States. I am neither a registered Democrat nor a registered Republican but a part of the shrinking independent class of voter. If you listen to this show regularly, you will either be listening to only that which you want to hear (liberal point of view) or you’ll listen and know your silently being vilified because you have absolutely no representation on the show at all (conservative point of view). How original it would be if a podcast produced by a foreign news agency actually tried to find a middle ground and have a real debate for those of us in the US who simply want to make up our mind??? Please PLEASE try and be more unbiased … you might actually get more listeners that way.

    Important take on America
Rewarding to have Jonathan Freedland’s transatlantic perspective brought to bear on the role and challenges of America. With a diverse and informed succession of guests. A must-listen addition to the podosphere.

    The hubris.
Imagine being a British person and wanting to opine (with a good deal of misinformation and bias to boot!) on US politics. The utter bad taste of even making this. You should be ashamed.
