Cinema of Meaning is a conversational podcast that seeks to explore the depths of what cinema has to offer. Incredible podcast.
I just discovered this podcast and cannot believe I wasn’t aware of it before. These two hosts provide intelligent and poignant analysis on every single episode and it is an absolute treat to listen to. I feel like i get smarter after every episode

    WORTHWHILE
The hosts are thoughtful film critics. They’re always attempting to bring a new insight to the film they’re discussing. I appreciate their focus on fostering film appreciation vs shocking the audience or relying on gimmicks. I also appreciate that it’s a clean film podcast as I can share it with my niece and nephews. I would appreciate more structure to the conversation as sometimes it meanders. But just like the films they discuss this podcast is worth engaging with.

    Solid but far from perfect
I enjoy both of the hosts YouTube channels but in the podcast they tend to ramble on too much often about something really not that subjectively or objectively important. Losing the trains of thought from jumping from one topic to the other also makes it boring. I still listen to the episodes of movies I watch/ed cuz I do like Thomas’ content but hope they map out the episode and move from one pointer to the next in an order so it feels more structured but maybe that’s just me. They can take turns doing the pointers for each ep too. Ads are too intrusive and repetitive honestly. I do have to add that Thomas’ channel is one of my faves too.

    Suggested Subject
Love the show. Find it very fulfilling. I would like to suggest a show or two separate shows first covering the movie “After Life” from 1998 by Japanese director Hirokazu Koreeda. What a fantastic film it is. Then cover the movie “Nine Days” by Edson Oda who said he was inspired by After Life when writing it. Both films hit me like a ton of bricks so I’d love to hear your views of them.

    Came here from YouTube
I like their YouTube content but this podcast is just okay. I figured listening to them talk about film would be entertaining, but they aren’t fun to listen to or interesting in this format.

    Great movie podcast
The two hosts have amazing YouTube channels and so I was excited to see them podcasting together. I’ve binged most of the series over the last few weeks. Rises above most movie podcasts out there.

    Great thought, too many ads
Really enjoy the conversations, but they make it abundantly clear that they don’t want you listening on whatever platform you prefer. There’s an ad at the beginning, the end, and like 2 sprinkled around. And they’re long, like sometimes up to 3 freaking minutes. Once at the start and end should be sufficient. Stop interrupting the point to shove in yet another mention for something else I should be doing. If I like your content, I’ll keep listening and I’ll check out other stuff you have. If I’m annoyed from the constant ad bombardment, I’m not going to be feeling so charitable.

I’m Excited to Join this Journey
When I heard these two were teaming up for a podcast I subscribed immediately since I’m such a fan of their individual work. I projected my own hopes for the series onto them… finally a truly intelligent series on classic films (Criterion, Expressionism, Silents, and Golden Age Hollywood). I was soon crestfallen to see that the plan is actually for none of those, but instead for current releases. But I must say I am such a supporter of these two creators that I quickly came around to excitement again as I realized that by turning myself over to the podcast they choose, I may learn a lot about why younger audiences embrace the movies released today. My hope is that I come away with the same zeal for current releases that I already have for classics. If anyone can bring me around to support (and love) the modern box office releases then it is these two. I look forward to you opening my eyes. I am confident that within a year this will be a Top Five podcast in the film genre. Congratulations guys.

The pace is a nice breath of fresh air. This is a very peaceful yet engaging set of conversations.

    New favorite podcast!
Have been looking for weeks for a movie-based podcast that I really like and I am totally entranced by listening to these guys! These guys amazingly bring life and wonder to every movie they discuss and are great at not talking over each other. Highly recommend for anyone who loves movies and loves to think!!

    Sold after 1 episode
Absolutely loved the Northman episode. These two guys managed to cover everything I found so interesting about the movie but couldn’t articulate half as well as them. Looking forward to binging the rest of the catalogue.

    Impressive cinema podcast.
Thoughtful and provocative examinations of the deeper meaning within cinema. Great job!

    Fan of both film experts
Cinema of Meaning. Guys, I followed here from the most excellent Youtube channels and remain excited to hear the two of you unpack the meanings behind the film. However, your pacing here is a bit slow. Oddly enough, when the two of you are talking about the length of The Batman movie, you went on for quite a while. Tom circled back to the question of movie length three times, and none of the engagements went anywhere. I’m sticking around, but I suggest you map out some beats before starting the show. This kind of pacing issue won’t bring you new followers. I hear it as nerves and preparedness, not inexperience in the subject matter.

    Brilliant
One of the most brilliant and peaceful man I’ve ever had the pleasure to listen to.
