Julie‘s podcasts and trainings are so good. She offers actionable advice that can be put to use immediately in major gift fundraising. Not only that, her energy is contagious and fun. I love to listen to her podcasts on my way to donor visits, it’s like having a coach giving a pep talk before a big game. Thank you for all the content you give to us Julie!

    The Pep Talk I Needed
I came across Julie’s podcast after the LinkedIn algorithm did it’s thing. As a remote philanthropy professional, it’s not often I can chat about tactical approaches to my work. These 15-20 minute episodes are just what I need to refill my cup and remind me of the tools I carry in my toolkit. I only wish I had access to her resources and podcast earlier in my career.

    Julie Shifts Your Mindset!
Julie is so powerful and honest about what it takes to get larger donations for your nonprofit. It’s so refreshing to hear an honest take, even if it’s uncomfortable initially, about major gifts and what it takes to receive them.

TRUST ME, You Will Take Notes!! Do Not Julie and Drive!
"Humility is the root of courage... it's about remembering, ITS NOT ABOUT ME...it's not about how I will be perceived, it's not about my reputation, it's not about my comfort level, it's not about doing what I'm use to or even doing what I'm historically good at..." As a new father, artist, and non-profit professional, Julie's insights have added a new dimension to the way I approach my life and work. I'm so grateful to have found her.

Amazing podcast and fundraising strategy! I have completed CourageLab and one-on-one coaching with Julie. Every fundraiser needs Julie and her fundraising strategy in your corner! As a first time fundraiser, I have raised over $170k in the 12 months after CourageLab. Her strategy just works.

    Get Ready to Get Pumped!
Found this podcast from a recommendation on Linked In and was not expecting the excitement I got coming out of just the first two episodes. Julie’s approach and way of positioning the importance, opportunity, and necessity of Fundraisers to get over Fear of asking is beyond energizing.

An ELECTRIC take on overcoming fundraising challenges
Julie cuts through the noise and gets right to the point of what’s holding fundraisers back from raising major gifts. Julie will challenge you and simultaneously lift you up, with her experience-backed framework, razor sharp wit and infectious spirit. Do yourself a favor and give this podcast a listen. You’ll be putting Julie in your corner and be better for it.

Yes, and. This will help and some of the bigger picture, I just disagree
So first off, I have to say, I have just started following Julie on social media and my interest was piqued by her posts. Her actual lab is far outside of my reach (economically) so I settled in to watch her social media. It bears with mentioning that I basically dislike podcasts (they just don’t work for my learning style all that well), so I was resistant to even listening. I tuned in because she had a drawing going based on folks leaving reviews. And she asked for honest reviews, so I thought I would give it a try. I already knew I could benefit from her experience and coaching. The first thing I noticed and literally started smiling, these episodes are manageable in length, 15 minutes, I can do that. And it makes it all digestible. On to the substance. I am definitely in need of both the courage and the strategy which Julie says she will be teaching over these podcasts. I am not at all a born fundraiser, and it is clear that she doesn’t hold back and I will learn a great deal. I think anyone starting out or who wants to be bringing in more major gifts will benefit. She is easy to follow, and has a straight talking no sugar coating style. She is not wasting anyone’s time (and her self promotion adds are honestly very brief and then she gets right back to the substance. So yes worth it And… On the flip side, and while agree that I need to develop courage, skills, courage, more courage, and let go of my money beliefs, at least in the opening episodes, I would say I have some fundamental differences with her philosophy—-not directly fundraising but world philosophy. Things like the linkages she seems to draw between if we (non profit executives/fundraisers/etc) just got a better fundraising strategy and more courage that we could get enough money to “eliminate homelessness, eradicate poverty, and much more.” My answer is yes, and. Yes our mission driven non-profits need more funds, absolutely, and we also need new ways of doing things—whole new (or old) systems. Much of the change we (as non profits) hope to see is not just about having enough money to do the work, yea fundamental. Whether we realize it or not, achieving our missions is also about relearning and creating new ways and that is not all solely based on money or lack there of. Many of the systems and foundations of philanthropy and the nonprofit sector are broken and based on colonial world views and practices, so even if we have more funds, if we unconsciously (or consciously) continue to replicate those systems we won’t be solving any of these big picture problems. So what does that mean in terms of this podcast? Do I recommend it? Yes, and. Yes I recommend it, clearly she will spur much thought, help me examine some of my mindsets (literally in the second episode she already did that), and that will be a huge help. And, I think I will need to actively make sure I invest twice as much time as I do in following her in reading/listening/watching materials coming out of places such as the Decolonizing Wealth project, RootId, Liberty Design, the Design Justice Network Principles, Books such as Towards Braiding, work on indigenous methodologies and others that challenge our fundamental conceptions of the non profit sector. So absolutely jumó in and listen to Julie and balance it out with some folks who will challenge even deeper assumptions, who will make sure that in developing courage that courage allows us to break out of the limitations of our current colonial systems and build new equity rooted ones.

What a gift to the nonprofit world
As a former nonprofit fundraiser turned nonprofit coach, I can confirm that raising money through major gifts is one of the more intimidating options. Julie not only breaks down the steps, but leaves you feeling like you can walk on fire (aka as for those 5, 6, and 7 figure gifts) 🔥. A must listen for all nonprofit fundraisers.

    Wow. Courage.
I’m just thinking about how many times I’ve been asked to do hard things but never asked about how courageous I’m willing to be for the mission I have. Really love this podcast so far and the conversation about how fear makes us selfish for our own comfort over the mission that we say we believe in. Challenge definitely clear on the table. Thank you! I know that this has held me back and definitely made me over reliant on grants just like Julie said in the podcast!
