Shame Spiral

70

A comedy podcast about shame- because no one roasts you harder than yourself! Each week, psychotherapist-turned-comedian Ely Kreimendahl exploits her therapy skills to talk all-things-shame with a new special guest. Every guest shares a core story of something that once made them spiral HARD, answers both silly and emotionally complicated questions, and even if these conversations are ACCIDENTALLY therapeutic, it's not therapy.... Ely goes ALL IN on sharing her shame, too. Does coming together to laugh at our shame and the often inherently comic absurdity of being human make it all easier to tolerate?! Listen in and see what you think. We'll laugh, we'll cry…. we'll SPIRAL.

Just love! This podcast makes me better
I have followed Ely on social media for a long time and I can’t believe I’ve only just started listening, but I’m so glad I did! I’m a new mom and Ely’s insight is so valuable and she is so refreshing and relatable. And everything non parenting related is wonderful as well!!

    Awesome 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟
Super inspired by Robby’s episode. Loved the discussion of money - but also her experience of actually not having shame around being gay despite her religious upbringing really resonates with my experience and made me feel really validated because sometimes I’m like is there something wrong with me that I don’t feel shameful about this am I disconnected from myself or something?! Oh the spirals 😵‍💫 🌀keep up the awesome work 👏🏻

    New coping mechanism checkkkkk
I’ve been listening to this podcast every week for a while now and it’s always a nice listen but I didn’t realize just how much it’s affected me until this week when I had a particularly intense shame spiral at work. I started imagining that I was recounting it with Ely and thinking about how they would react which made me so much more compassionate toward myself in that moment. Thanks for that!

Hilarious and genuine and cringey in the best way!
I’ve known Ely since we were 16 and she is still as funny and lovable as she was then. This podcast is a look into the brain of a comedic genius who also happens to be a therapist…the interviews are so funny but also kind of healing when you realize you are not the only weirdo out there. So proud of you Ely!

Like a hug for your feelings
This podcast is such a lovely mix of Ely’s warm empathic nature, and funny moments and stories. It’s my go to for commuting and getting ready for bed. despite the at times heavy topic, Ely’s kind demeanor and obvious background as a therapist keeps a good balance.

    Favorite new pod
I stumbled upon this show somehow and now I’m hooked. I‘ve now listened to every episode and I look forward to each new one. It makes me laugh, I feel “seen” and it’s given me a lot to think about in terms of the way I think about my own and other people’s shame. Love the vulnerability, the humor, the vibes.

    Love Ely!
Ely Kreimendahl’s podcast is insightful funny and throughly entertaining! I never thought about the concept of shame before and now I see it as the answer to many of life’s mysteries! Thank you Ely for opening my eyes to experience and emotions as on the shame spectrum! Laugh out loud funny while being poignant and profound. Ok I’ve known you since you were 3 and that is nothing to be a-shamed about!!!😍Proud of you! Xoxo

A deeply sincere break in the day.
Ely is gentle, poignant and insightful, with a profound (and often comforting) perspective. It makes sense... their background is as a therapist, and that lens allows for a genuinely warm, funny, and insightful conversation with every guest. It’s a soothing and cathartic reminder that we can learn from shame, and that it usually isn’t that big a deal. So… am I in a shame spiral? Usually. But it's nice to not be in a shame spiral alone.

Ely is hilarious is every format
I can’t really listen to podcasts in general, even when I love the hosts, but this is absolutely what I needed and will need every week and perhaps I can go down to bi-weekly with my own therapist and save some cash and just try and take in all the brilliance and hilarity here.

Listen, it’s worth it I promise!
I’ve followed Ely’s hilarious twitter for years and finding out they’re also a therapist made me love them even more! Shame is such a tough subject, but I’m so excited to listen to all the brave vulnerable people share on this podcast!

    Love this— end the stigma!
I’m so glad this podcast exists— we need to talk about shame and OCD and other mental health issues openly and more often. I was diagnosed with OCD at 40yrs old— had it all my life but never knew until I found an article online that said all the things I’ve agonized over for years in silence. 4 decades of my life that could have been different if people had talked about these things more openly. Talks like these can change lives! Thank you 😊💜

Felt like I was in on the therapy session.
This podcast is so raw and real. It will have you feeling things right away, but with a warmth that isn’t uncomfortable. Ely has a great way of normalizing mental health struggles in a way that makes you feel seen! This podcast balances honesty and humor in a very genuine way. Felt like I was in on a therapy session with one of my favorite celebrities. I can’t wait for new episodes!!!!
