Bedtime Stories with Adam McKay

Improv #77

As civilization comes crashing down around us, it's getting harder to fall asleep. Writer and director Adam McKay isn’t afraid to admit that adults need bedtime stories too. Join Adam McKay and friends for improvised, meandering tales meant to lull you to sleep - stories of wayward polka dots, martial arts in mysterious platinum suits, and the terrifying panic of grabbing free stuff. And don’t miss sleepy tales from guests like Sarah Silverman, Cole Escola, and Michaela Watkins.Artwork by Saskia Keultjes.A HyperObject Industries & Sony Music Entertainment production. Need more
Pleas do more episodes. This is the only thing that helps me go to sleep fast. I’ve listed to all 15 episodes at least 36 times.

    Perfect for relaxing
I listen to this podcast daily: it helps me take a dee breath and sink into a state of relaxation. I use it for naps, deep sleep, or just to calm my mind. I recommend it for everyone!

    Platinum, was not so shiny…
I listened to several episodes, and they were entertaining and distracted my mind as I was drifting off to sleep. I came across the episode, “PLATINUM”, (which I chose for its length), and it was completely disturbing!! Not the kind of story you want to hear when you’re trying to drift off, etc. It’s about somebody else’s disturbing problems that keep compounding. Not sure if the creator was just having an odd day, but this episode did the opposite of helping me drift off to sleep. I ended up being irritated that I couldn’t sleep due to thinking about the poorly chosen content for the story. The whole point is to help people drift off to sleep, not promote them staying awake! Not constructive nor responsible!👎🏻

    Perfect weave
When I turned on a few friends to this amazing bedtime story concept by Adam and company via text, the question came back, is it creepy? or is it funny/ mellow? My answer, a little bit of both and then some, but not really creepy. Adams voice is soothing, but keeps you engaged just enough. The stories are light, fun and perfect improv for weaving into your subconscious.

Adam McKay is a goddamn genius
I love being able to hear Adam just improvise. Listened to his Improv4Humans episodes and Owen & TJ Read the News. These bedtime stories are better than a lot of television out there today. I’m afraid that once Adam has to direct/write another movie we won’t be able to hear his genius every week. If that is the case, you need to get other improvisers as guest storytellers like Jason Mantzoukas, Lauren Lapkus, and Carl Tart. Thanks for doing this podcast and please keep it going.
