Please Protect Abraham

In Hackney, 2007, 15-year-old Abraham saves a stranger from a brutal attack. That split-second decision and act of astonishing bravery changes his life forever.

Journalist Sam Holder has been following Abraham's story for years. Together with Abraham's friends and family, they retrace how this young boy finds himself in fear of his own life.

This multi-award-winning series explores the protections in place for witnesses of violent crimes, the obligations for witnesses to give evidence in court, and what can be done if someone feels their life is at risk.

    Greatness
How are there only 4 ratings, this young man did more in 15 years and in the 10 subsequent years prior to his murder than most do in an 80 year life. Hero isn’t a large enough word, I’m not sure there is a word besides invoking religion (which I do not believe in) but if I keep it spiritual - his action was “God-like!” He was absolutely failed by the criminal justice system, the UK government, his community and society as a whole. I have a feeling as to why more people haven’t listened or left reviews but this isn’t the place or maybe it is. Being an American older white man, with my first and only child about to be born, a son, I can only hope he grows into half the man Abraham was. What this child and eventual man may have become if protected, can only be guessed at - maybe PM. I’ve traveled the world for sports and in my studies; I’ve seen firsthand hand how the criminal Justice and privileged white have failed all of society. We fail kids and those of other ethnicities like Abraham everyday because we are so prejudiced and self absorbed; we can’t take 5 minutes to show courage, empathy, compassion, understanding, support and ultimately love for those who we deem different. We are all different in a way, yes, but at the end of the day we are built of the same exact matter and energy- only small changes in our DNA which we do not choose make us appear different. Essentially it is reality vs perception. No person has the ability to see or experience reality but to only perceive it. If we did live in reality, all people would be treated equally under the law, as well as, equal in every persons eyes and spirit. It’s time for people to become truly conscious beings instead of mindless drones! Then maybe we could actually progress to our next stage. I’m sorry Abraham, we let you down; what an absolute tragedy!
