Kudos to Wakonda For Restoring Greatness!
Great podcast on Wakonda’s efforts over the past 25 years to improve the golf course. Roger Rulewich made a lot of improvements and changes over 5 years from 1998-2003, but they deviated from Langford’s concepts. In 2008, Wakonda removed 120 trees to solve shade issues around 6-7 greens. Regrassed with A1/A4 on greens and Pennlinks 2/Penneagle2 on fairways plus new bunker drainage and pro-angle sand. Current comprehensive restoration project should jump Wakonda comfortably back inside Top 100 courses in USA. New irrigation system, expanded green pads (including 3 new greens) and fairways, reintroducing 20 original historical bunkers that have been hiding under grass for 30-70 years, tree removal to widen fairways, 10 new forward tees, new sand and latest bent grass cultivars on fairways, tees and greens. BIG congrats to the loyal members who supported the project - Wakonda soon will again become nationally relevant!!!

    Excellent Podcast
Very accurate synopsis of the process undertaken by Wakonda Club to get to the eve of the course restoration work. Rheanne, Aaron and Dane do an excellent job describing the many steps taken to help shape the future of Wakonda Club.
