glimadollGreat podcast!I like the repartee between Bill and Doug. Lots of interesting info!
-
ChazyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyLinemanDid anyone else notice bill crying on the last pod?
-
AFA26Solid CFB podHuge fan of Doug, his energy and passion for this topic is infectious. Bill is a good writer, no doubt about it, but his Ohio state bias can be a bit much at times.
-
Matt 5237Hot trashStop yelling! Doug is trash. His takes are trash. Bill just laughs at trash. It reflects the decadence of Western Civilization that Doug is paid for this “work”. And he’s crying again.
-
UtahjoeyAnyone else think that was a little weird…When Doug got teary-eyed over northern teams doing well in the playoffs?
-
McNutt for HeismanCame skepticallyStayed because it’s a really solid show with good interviews.
-
adpatterson19Cram It!This is the content that has been missing for the last decade! First Doug and Bill are at the top of their profession. Even when I disagree with them, at least their takes are based on reality and data not just empty trolling like ES(ec)PN. If you want a high quality national show that is in opposition to ES(ec)PN and the obnoxious south this is a must listen or YouTube watch! Finally a place that calls the south out for their stupidity, puts ES(ec)PN on blast for their obvious bias, and celebrates football outside the south! Great guests too from players and coaches to Steven Godfrey and Dan Wetzel!

dmpforyouandmeDoug: a fine wineI’ve been listen to Doug and bill for years in various spaces. Like a fine wine, I feel like they’ve aged to perfection as they’ve steadily improved over time. KOTN is the perfect blend of advanced analytics, in depth understanding of the game, rational takes and irrational rants. This is the best football listen on the market. I love the change many years ago to add nonfootball content to the end, giving the listener the choice to engage or not.
-
Good ol’ no eyesBest podcast for the northColorado: The only team in CFB history that can have the worst run game in the FBS and still be considered “a complete team”. This is a good podcast, but let’s be consistent about how we view teams.
-
perrydreThe South Can Cram It!A must listen every day! Very informative about Northern football. Perfect amount of SECtion talk. Duel Swords and a dragon statue! Doug being semi yo very abrasive at points! 5 stars!

Dakota Bensonlove these guys but…So unbelievably tired of the Georgia/SEC obsession. Can we talk about other teams? Like… northern teams? I don’t listen to “southern biased national media” so I end up skipping through a bunch of this show that only reacts to “southern biased national media.” Can we get a timestamp for when you talk about northern teams and not the SEC? I’m at least ten minutes into this week’s Saturday night show and you haven’t talked about anyone but Georgia and Miami. I mean the description for the episode starts talking about Georgia and Miami. I used to lean on Buckeyetalk and The Podcast to get me through my commute to and from work. I’ve been so disappointed this year with how much the show talks about Georgia and “the south.” Doesn’t a show called Kings of the North, that talks about Georgia more than any other team, miss the mark? I’m bummed about it because Doug and Bill have been my absolute favorites covering OSU, but KOTN is really missing the mark for me this year.
-
Caleb ArdleI hate the southThis show is great! I followed Doug from his previous ventures and think even though he’s a bit kooky at times he is one of my favorite sports personalities to listen to/watch! Kings of the North allows him to fully go Lesmerises-mode more than ever before, which makes it super fun and interesting. The biggest thing this show has done for me is to make me hate the south. Doug has a way with words I guess because now I go around talking to my friends about how pretty much every southern team is a fraud and the north rules football. I think Doug is rubbing off on me and I’m not quite sure if that is a good or bad thing yet. Go North!
-
Alden GuyInformative and a lot of funDoug and Bill do a great job highlighting northern football and the incredible bias by the media, poll voters and others against northern football and for southern football. They picked an amazing season with very validating performances on the field to make his case. The south can cram it!
-
pjprengerFor the North!Entertaining show, great perspective.
-
BeegersonLove the showSorry I can’t tune in on most Saturday nights - but it’s my first listen Sunday morning on this platform

Flying BuckeyeBest CFB Show!!Doug and Bill carry the sword for northern football! They are fighting against the SEC bias in the mainstream media and have great insight on the college football landscape. I can’t get enough “Whatcha”!

GSTitanThe podcast that saved meFor years, I wondered aimlessly and helplessly to doctors offices, therapist chairs, in and out of the love one’s arms. No one could help me. I had an incurable condition. A terminal disease. TheSouthCanCramIttosis. But this show—with its insights, analysis, and commentary on northern college football and its propensity to tell the South to cram it—saved me. In all seriousness, I look forward to the show daily. I’m excited to see its continued growth as the premiere college football show of the North.
-
Darth MCThe best college football podcastI listen to every podcast Doug and Bill do. They cover great topics and explain why they think what they think. The observations are true and thought provoking.
-
TG52531523Finally…No more SEC biasLove listening to a college football podcast without SEC bias. At this point it’s pathetic how lazy the analysis is on other shows claiming that overrated southern teams like ole miss, Missouri, and lsu are legitimate national title contenders. We love college football and want to hear more about the rest of the country. It’s made watching college football way more fun when you know more about the chaotic Big 12 and middle of the pack big 10 teams like Illinois, Nebraska, and Washington. I used to listen to an OSU podcast Doug was on but like this one way better talking about the full landscape of college football vs a full hour talking about OSU’s 3rd string LBs.
-
JScottAZTook over my podcast feedYou’ll want to listen to Kings of the North for three reasons. 1. Smart football analysis. 2. Random off the cuff comments and tangents that will make you laugh. 3. It will balance out what you hear or read from ESPN. Doug (a Northwestern grad) and Bill (Penn State grad) covered Ohio State before starting this show. Well, Doug also covered the Cleveland Browns too. They call out where they were wrong, regularly talk about all 28 teams in what they define as the north of college football, most of the Big 10, 1/2 of Big 12, the northern ACC teams and bring in interesting guests. You’ll be interested in and informed about more games on Saturdays as a result. Give it a listen. It took over my podcast feed. Keep up the good work! Joel in Phoenix
-
Alicia724I Hate the SECI was born in Cleveland, raised just north of Pittsburgh, and now live about 15 minutes away from UGA. The way Doug talks about SEC fans is perfection. Love the show.
-
Tian 785“I intend to make Georgia howl.” W.T. ShermanFinally somewhere that promotes the North like so many pods do for the south. It’s made watching ball more enjoyable because I know more about Northern teams and I care more if they win. - Great mix of guests. - Variety of content- Rankings, analysis, coach/player interviews, betting. - Great hosts. Doug and Landis do a great job.
-
mah2325Great showMy go to podcast to stay up today on college football. Keep up the great work!
-
Frank OutbackThe North!!I’m watching Rutgers run out the clock versus Virginia Tech, pumping my fist for another Northern victory. Been listening to these guys for years as a Buckeyes/Buckeye Talk fan. Love the show, love the idea.
-
DavybbqqChipotleGreat show. Enjoy the topic. I firmly agree with Mike that chipotle is much better than moe’s. Keep up the great work.

-
amoats22Love DougDoug has always been my favorite Ohio st reporter. Not afraid to ask the tough questions. Great podcast with great insight.
-
ScubaSteve0004Will listen, still skepticalLove Doug and Bill from the days with Ari at Cleveland.com. I’m still a little skeptical of this “northern” football theme gaining traction but Doug and Bill have gained my trust over the years to keep my perspective in check as an OSU fan and also to teach me a few things about the broader scope of college football. 5 stars! Hope it catches on!
-
Ian2424Solid potentialI was very into the show at first but increasingly, it seems to be pro-North, anti-Michigan. While the rest of the CFB is moving on and giving Michigan credit for its success, these guys seem to take every opportunity available to question whether the Stalions harebrained scheme was responsible for Michigan’s success. Those that know ball know that sign stealing is a marginal advantage and sending your mom to record signs at games is marginal stacked upon marginal. But Doug postulates that Michigan beating OSU by 15 and 22 in back to back years was because of Stalions’ nonsense. I don’t even think it’s intentional but these guys are based in Columbus so it’s hard to filter out all the noise they must get.
-
Morris826Great show. Great hosts. Great conversations. Too big of a scopeGrowing up in the Columbus area and moving away, I listened to Bill and Doug’s work in other forums. Hating the SEC, I was excited to have people bring pride to the north. I think they do great and I love the podcast and will continue to listen. My feedback though is I think the scope of teams is just too large. I am a football/sports fan mainly focusing on Ohio State. I love hearing the different perspectives of teams that aren’t as nationally recognized and in the SEC. However, some teams I just don’t care about because they’re not relevant enough to me. Finebaum, while being a southern guy, I still think of SEC dominated. If the SEC got UW and OU, he would be hyping them up because of conference alignment even though they’re northern states. My point is, I think KOTN needs to be big ten focused, at least at the beginning. While I thought the Kansas/Kanas State pod was well done, I found myself not caring because it’s not related to the teams I care about. As an OSU fan, I care about every big ten team because they’re impacting my team even if they don’t play each other. Now, I would love to see deep analysis on other northern teams if it’s relevant to another big ten program. I would come to KOTN first for every Iowa/Iowa state game analysis and look forward to it. Teams like BCU and Kansas just don’t move the needle for me because I’m not seeing why I should care outside of a made up line dividing the country despite widely varying northern cultures. Keep up the great work and love the pod.
-
VickiZ531Great listen.Knowledgeable guys talking college football. Fun, good natured conversation about midwestern/northern teams. Easy to listen to.
-
imperial boobahGreat listenInteresting and these guys do their homework,I’m hooked as a RU fan “in the north”
-
Sculer02OSU Fan MasqueradeI really have tried to give this show a good effort. I have been listening since it started just can’t get past the fact they are Ohio State fans, masquerading as fans of Northern college football. They definitely know a lot about football, but you might as well just go listen to another Slappy Ohio State podcast, there are hundreds of them.
-
MJan30301212Superficial or Lazy or BothHard to trust you about other teams if you really think Notre Dame fans wish Brian Kelly was back. I think it’s less than 1 percent of the fan base. If that’s a gauge of the accuracy your knowledge of other “northern” teams—-most of which are far more obscure than Notre Dame—than I’m not sure what the point of listening to the show is. Clearly it’s as superficial as it comes
-
FMB2222Here for Kings of the Notth and Kings of Columbus!I love listening to Doug and Bill. You can tell their chemistry is built on genuine friendship. Doug has such unique spins and both work incredibly hard.
-
Danny McQuaideHere for Doug and BillI was SO sad when I heard Doug was leaving Buckeyetalk, I felt like I was losing a part of day. When I found out Doug was jumping to THE Podcast, I was ecstatic. Doug and Bill are FANTASTIC together. To be honest, the idea of KOTN is interesting, but I’d enjoy even more a full view of college football. I know, I know, the south can cram it, but I just enjoy listening to these two, and would love an even more national view on college football, especially with the expanded playoff. So in short, the south can cram it, but I want to hear about what’s going on there more so I can more roundly and fully appreciate cramming it.
-
jrmilettiThe premise is horribleI like Doug and Bill. Been a fan of then since the BAD podcast. But the premise of the show is so bad. Trying to listen to them stretch to talk up Cuse, Boston College or Maryland or Minnesota is comical. The majority of their audiences Ohio State fans as am I. As Ohio State fans we are not part of northern college football culture. Our fan base is far more of a “southern” fan base than it is a Northern fanbase. The North does not recruit hard they don’t invest in football and most of their fanbases don’t care. I think Doug cares more about Illinois football than any Illinois fan I’ve ever met. We’ve been carrying the North for 100 years. Listening to a college football show they just excludes the south is about the most boring thing I can possibly listen to. Even from two hosts that I actually like. I would love to listen to them do a college football show to a company King of Columbus. Just a regular college football show without some goofy twist that excludes 70% of the good football in the country. Maybe someday.
-
Defense MikeGreat concept, great executionThis show provides great context on the northern half of the sport at a time when college football feels increasingly polarized along those lines. And as a son of the north, I love the passion!
-
TheBuckeyeDI must say…I must say… living in SEC country and working in public parks as I do, nothing made me happier than listening to a podcast on full blast that is going in detail to let everyone know exactly why their beloved SEC teams are overrated! 😂😂
-
Kevin LP fanGo to pod for north footballDo a good job of equally covering northern teams even though they also cover Ohio state more specifically on other podcasts. South can cram it carry on gentlemen
-
Ruff321CuriousI love the show. Have followed Doug for years (in his previous lives) and have always thought him to be the most curious and insightful of all the reporters on the OSU beat. And it is a very good group of beat writers. Doug has now led me to know and listen to Bill Landis who is fantastic and makes a great counter to Doug’s sometimes crazy sidebars. This is a great show! It’s my believe that the media overvalues Southern talent. Anyone ever compare the number of players in the NFL raised in the south vs. the 60% that get rated in 247 Sports top 247. I wonder if the same % holds up. It seems like most of 247 focus is the southern camp circuit and 7on7. Northerners not as likely to get exposure.
-
TheJollyrancher6Great showDoug and Bill do a tremendous job covering all things northern football.
-
Revans50Much Needed For Northern College Football FansGreat show and sorely needed to offset all the noise about the SEC and southern football in general. A few thoughts: Virginia Tech is not a northern team nor is Louisville but Kansas and Kansas State absolutely belong in a podcast about northern football. Missouri is iffy.
-
Greggc74My #1 PodcastPhilly Billy and French Vanilly add the best context, best stats, best format and perspective of all college Football coverage. The South can Cram It, and these guys can lead the way! GreggC74
-
😎🤓💩😺Excellent Premise and ShowDoug and Bill are incredibly educated in their profession of covering CFB. A show about Northern CFB is what this sport needs, because it’s soooo Southern driven. What a year for Northern CFB, and they educate the fans and listeners about the Boston College QB, or also make fun of Northern Nepotism. Great Show, Great Premise… and the South can Cram It!
-
O-H-I-O Go BucksMinor tweakA B1G/Northern specific podcast has been needed for some time. Please include USC & UCLA in your podcast. I understand they literally are south on a map but they are in the B1G, it doesn’t make sense to me to leave them off the podcast.
-
AX-5Best of the Best!!!Doug & Bill are the very best when it comes to their coverage - analysis and contextualization of Ohio State football - and now this new venture of analyzing and contextualizing the broader topic of Northern Football - which is much needed - to contrast the constant hyperbole surrounding the SEC and southern football.
